Demon Warlock Build for Diablo 2 Resurrected

Last updated on May 22, 2026 at 10:00 by MrLlamaSC

The Demon Warlock is a new Summoner in the game that forms pacts with Demons to fight his way through Sanctuary. He can have a total of up to 3 Demons at a time including Goatmen, Tainteds, Defilers, or even a Demon that is encountered in the game! Fully geared, this hero packs quite a punch and can solo a lot of content on lower player counts.

1.

Introduction

The Demon Warlock uses his control of various Demons to slay his enemies. While he cannot Summon as big of an Army as the Necromancer or Druid, his Demons are more powerful and he has much greater control of them. From Death Mark to teleport and focus his demons on an enemy, the Demon Warlock packs quite a punch and is the most interactive Summoner yet.

Demon Warlock Skill Build

The following section shows the core skills for the Demon Warlock. For a detailed breakdown of all core and optional skills as well as the recommended order for allocating skill points, refer to the Skills page of this guide.

  1. 20 points to Summon Goatman – One of the three Demon choices. A great tank and Melee fighter, the Goatman has high damage output and can keep enemies away from you.
  2. 20 points to Bind Demon – Bind any Demon in the game. This Summon persists between games so it can be really nice to get Lister the Tormentor or some other giant Demon.
  3. 20 points to Demonic Mastery – Increases Number of Demons, Damage, Attack Rating, Attack Speed, Run Walk Speed, and more. Definitely a Skill to max in any Summoner Build.
  4. 20 points to Blood Oath – Improve defenses of Summons and yourself.
  5. 1 point to Sigil: Lethargy – Slows enemies and increases their damage taken.
  6. 1 point to Sigil: Death – Explodes enemies when low on life.
  7. X points to Death Mark – Teleport Demons to fight a specific target. Increased points synergizes with your other summons. A great place to dump remaining points.
  8. X points to Blood Boil – Rupture your Demons, dealing damage to them and enemies around them. Not the focus on this specific build but still a little bit of added damage if desired.
  9. 1 point to Engorge – Heal your Demons and increase their Defenses.

Starting out the Demon tree is a little slow as you only get 1 Summon, however as your Demonic Mastery increases and you gain more Summons and skills this character improves a lot. Blood Boil is a powerful skill is desired, however this build can run purely as a physical build as well.

Demon Warlock Breakpoints

In Diablo 2, stats that affect action speed (known as frames) for attacking, casting, blocking, and recovering from a hit can almost never be taken literally. For example, gaining 10% Increased Attack Speed from an item will not necessarily translate into 10% faster attacks. To achieve faster actions, certain breakpoints must be reached, which vary for every class. The tables below list how much of a given stat is required to actually improve the action speed of the class for the stated action.

6.1.

Faster Hit Recovery Breakpoints

Hit Recovery Breakpoints
Frames to perform action 13 12 11 10 9 8 7 6 5
Faster Hit Recovery required to reach frame 0% 5% 10% 16% 26% 39% 56% 86% 152%
6.2.

Faster Cast Rate Breakpoints

Faster Cast Rate Breakpoints
Frames to perform action 15 14 13 12 11 10 9
Faster Cast Rate required to reach frame 0% 9% 18% 30% 48% 75% 125%
6.3.

Faster Block Rate Breakpoints

Faster Block Rate Breakpoints
Frames to perform action 11 10 9 8 7 6 5 4
Faster Block Rate required to reach frame 0% 6% 13% 20% 32% 52% 86% 174%
7.

Demon Warlock Mercenary

An Offensive (Might) Desert Guard Mercenary in Act 2 will be the best for Goatman and certain bound Demons as it provides Might Aura to all of your Physical Summons. Otherwise, a Defensive (Holy Freeze) Mercenary could be useful to slow enemies for more survivability if using more caster Demons such as Tainteds.
