TBC Classic Frost Mage Enchants and Consumables

In The Burning Crusade, consumable and enchant requirements for Frost Mages have been greatly eased, so every Mage will be expected to bring them. Below you will find a list of required consumables and enchants for playing a Frost Mage in PvE.

Gloves	Enchant Gloves - Major Spellpower or Enchant Gloves - Spell Strike if you lack Spell Hit rating.
Legs	Runic Spellthread
Feet	Enchant Boots - Boar's Speed
Weapon	Enchant Weapon - Soulfrost, or if unavailable Enchant Weapon - Major Spellpower

As a Frost Mage, most of your gems will come from Jewelcrafters. Chaotic Skyfire Diamond is, by far, the best Meta gem for any caster class, but needs two Blue gems such as Glowing Shadowsong Amethyst (with Glowing Nightseye being the budget version of it) to be activated.

Always gem Runed Crimson Spinel ( Runed Living Ruby budget version) unless told otherwise in our BiS gear guides. Epic gems from Heroic dungeons are unique, so you can only have one of each at a time. In order to activate a socket bonus with a Yellow gem, or to make up for missing Hit Rating, Veiled Pyrestone ( Veiled Noble Topaz budget version) is the best craftable option. If you need no more Hit Rating, Potent Pyrestone ( Potent Noble Topaz budget version) is the play for Yellow sockets, if activating the socket bonus is required.

Epic gems can drop from bosses in Heroic dungeons and are usually better than their budget counterparts from Jewelcrafting. However, they are unique, so you can only have one of each gem at a time. Furthermore, most of them are worse than their epic counterparts from Tier 6 raids.

Fluorescent Tanzanite from Heroic Blood Furnace is your best Blue gem, followed by Glowing Shadowsong Amethyst.

Should you lack Hit rating in a blue gem slot, you may use Vivid Chrysoprase from Heroic The Slave Pens or Lambent Chrysoprase from The Underbog. For yellow gem slots, Veiled Pyrestone ( Veiled Noble Topaz budget version) is the preferred option, but you may also use Shining Fire Opal from The Mechanar Heroic, or Potent Fire Opal from Heroic Auchenai Crypts if you are already Hit capped.

Blackened Basilisk, Poached Bluefish and Crunchy Serpent all serve the same purpose. The 23 Spell Power are superior to any other buff food available and stack with the festival buff foods, such as Midsummer Sausage. Their Spirit can also be converted to Spell Damage by Priests' Improved Divine Spirit for 2 more Spell Damage, as 10% of your Spirit will turn into Spell Damage.

Flask of Pure Death is the best and most powerful consumable available to you, tightly followed by the Flask of Supreme Power

Super Mana Potions and Destruction Potions need to be used as required. Destruction Potion is usually considered the better potion, if used with Icy Veins, but running out of Mana makes you deal no damage. Always be prepared to use both potions.

Brilliant Wizard Oil is going to be your best weapon oil, as Frost benefits a lot from the Critical Strike chance and the added Spell Damage.
