Qingyi Guide and Best Builds
Qingyi Guide & Best Builds
Welcome to our Qingyi build guide for Zenless Zone Zero. Qingyi is an S-Rank Electric Stun Agent who provides easy stunner gameplay. In our guide, we will cover everything you need to know to get the most out of your Qingyi, from building the best Drive Discs and W-Engines, to important stat priorities and combos.
Qingyi's Best W-Engines
Listed below are Qingyi's best W-Engines. While W-Engines are listed in a priority order, what is best to build can vary slightly depending on your team composition or account funding.
Ice-Jade Teapot
When a Basic Attack hits an enemy, gain 1 stack of Tea-riffic. Each stack of Tea-riffic increases the user's Impact by 0.7/0.88/1.05/1.22/1.4%, stacking up to 30 times, and lasting for 8s. The duration of each stack is calculated separately. Upon acquiring Tea-riffic, if the equipper possesses stacks of Tea-riffic greater than or equal to 15, all squad members' DMG is increased by 20/23/26/29/32% for 10s. Passive effects of the same name do not stack.
Qingyi's best W-Engine is her signature Ice-Jade Teapot, which
is obtainable through the W-Engine Channel during limited-time periods.
However, if players are unable to obtain this W-Engine, there are several
alternatives to choose from, as Qingyi is fairly straightforward to build
as a Stun Agent.
Overall, this W-Engine is greatly beneficial for Qingyi, as she wants to finish her Basic Attack Combo as much as possible, to maximize on her Core Passive bonuses from Subjugation. Most of Qingyi's kit increases both her Stun and Damage potential, which this W-Engine can provide.
The Restrained
When an attack hits an enemy, DMG and Daze from Basic Attacks increase by 6/7.5/9/10.5/12% for 8s, stacking up to 5 times. This effect can trigger at most once during each skill. The duration of each stack is calculated separately.
For W-Engine alternatives at the S-Rank, players can use any of the Stun W-Engines that give an 18% Impact Advanced Stat at Lv.60.
However, keep in mind the Daze % stacks from The Restrained may be inconsistent on Qingyi compared to other more compatible Stun Agents.
Hellfire Gears
While off-field, the equipper's Energy Regen increases by 0.6/0.75/0.9/1.05/1.2/s.
When using an EX Special Attack, the equipper's Impact is increased by 10/12.5/15/17.5/20% for 10s, stacking up to 2 times. The duration of each stack is calculated separately.
Hellfire Gears also depends on the player's preferred gameplay, as to get either 10% or 20% additional Impact, players must focus on using Qingyi's EX Special Attacks. Qingyi also gets a passive Energy Regeneration Rate from using Hellfire Gears off-field, which is a nice bonus to help with getting more EX Specials with Qingyi (and therefore enter her Basic Attack Combo or the Flash Connect State more often).
Blazing Laurel
Upon launching a Quick Assist or Perfect Assist, the equipper's Impact increases by 25/28.75/32.5/36.25/40% for 8s. When the equipper launches and hits an enemy with a Basic Attack, apply Wilt to the target for 30s, stacking up to 20 times, repeated triggers reset the duration. When any squad member hits an enemy, for every stack of Wilt applied to the target, the CRIT DMG of the Ice DMG and Fire DMG dealt by that attack increases by 1.5/1.72/1.95/2.17/2.4%. Only one instance of this effect can exist in the same squad.
If players enjoy squads that have Ice or Fire DMG, they may also consider the Blazing Laurel as an alternative to the above. Qingyi is able to achieve the Wilt stacks alone (as she can use Basic Attacks to build her Flash Connect gauge), maximizing the party DMG bonus received from the effect Flowing Flame. However, keep in mind that Qingyi cannot deal Ice nor Fire DMG, so this W-Engine is very reliant on other Agents to take advantage of it.
Additionally, Blazing Laurel is the most inefficient S-Rank W-Engine for building Impact on Qingyi.
Steam Oven
For every 10 Energy accumulated, the equipper's Impact is increased by 2/2.3/2.6/2.9/3.2%, stacking up to 8 times. After Energy is consumed, this bonus remains for 8 more seconds. The duration of each stack is calculated separately.
This W-Engine also provides up to 60% Energy Regen, which would benefit Qingyi if she does a lot of EX Specials.
Demara Battery Mark II or Precious Fossilized Core
In a Flash of Light
Increases Electric DMG by 15/17.5/20/22/24%. When the equipper hits an enemy with a Dodge Counter or Assist Attack, their Energy Generation Rate increases by 18/20.5/23/25/27.5% for 8s.
Behemoth Hunter
When the target's HP is no lower than 50%, the equipper inflicts 10/11.5/13/14.5/16% more Daze to the target. When the target's HP is no lower than 75%, this bonus is further increased by 10/11.5/13/14.5/16%.
This W-Engine provides more Electric DMG and Energy Generation Rate, which is always helpful for increasing Qingyi's personal damage.
Six Shooter
The equipper gains 1 Charge stack every 3s, stacking up to 6 times. When launching an EX Special Attack, consumes all Charge stacks and each stack consumed increases the skill's Daze inflicted by 4/4.6/5.2/5.8/6.4%.
As Qingyi primarily wants Impact, she can use various A-Rank W-Engines which would mostly work with what she wants. None of them currently can achieve a maximum of 220 Impact. While these W-Engines will not reach the same maximum Impact an S-Rank W-Engine can, they can still provide additional bonuses.
For example, the Six Shooter helps multiply Qingyi's Daze by accumulating stacks to use on activation. The maximum stack accumulation time will generally align well with Qingyi's rotation, but may overcap if she cannot build enough Energy in time.
Best Drive Discs for Qingyi
King of the Summit
4-Piece Set: When the equipper is a Stun character and uses an EX Special Attack or Chain Attack, increases CRIT DMG of all squad members by 15%, and when the equipper's CRIT Rate is more than or equal to 50%, further increases CRIT DMG by 15%, lasting 15s. Repeated triggers reset the duration. Passive effects of the same name do not stack.
Qingyi's best 4-Piece Drive Disc set is King of the Summit. The base 4-Piece effect gives 15% CRIT DMG to all Agents in the squad whenever Qingyi uses an EX Special Attack or Chain Attack. Qingyi can also build enough CRIT Rate on her Drive Discs, allowing her to benefit from the additional 15% CRIT DMG bonus.
2-Piece Recommendations include:
- Shockstar Disco
- Thunder Metal
- Woodpecker Electro
- Swing Jazz or Moonlight Lullaby
Shockstar Disco
4-Piece Set: Basic Attacks, Dash Attacks, and Dodge Counters inflict 20% more Daze to the main target.
Alternatively, Shockstar Disco can also be a good option, as it provides Impact and additional Daze upon using Basic Attacks, Dash Attacks, and Dodge Counters. All of these actions are likely what you will perform on Qingyi. This is a budget 4-Piece recommendation, as Qingyi mostly prefers Shockstar Disco for its 2-Piece Impact bonus instead.
2-Piece Recommendations include:
- King of the Summit
- Thunder Metal
- Woodpecker Electro
- Swing Jazz or Moonlight Lullaby
Thunder Metal
4-Piece Set: As long as an enemy in combat is Shocked, the equipper's ATK is increased by 28%.
The last 4-piece set recommendation is Thunder Metal, as it improves Qingyi's personal Electric DMG output.
2-Piece Recommendations include:
- Shockstar Disco
- King of the Summit
- Woodpecker Electro
- Swing Jazz or Moonlight Lullaby
Qingyi's Stat Priority
Try to build at least 50% CRIT Rate first, then focus on other substats.
Realistically, the most important stat for Qingyi is Impact, as Qingyi cannot get more Impact beyond 184 through Drive Disc substats. She needs to supplement the remaining Impact through W-Engine Effects or Drive Disc Set Effects. As a result, Qingyi can work with a variety of different builds, as long as her Disc 6 has an Impact Main Stat.
Is Impact a Difficult Stat to Build?
Impact is a stat that cannot be built through Drive Disc substats. She has to supplement the remaining Impact to 220 through beneficial W-Engine Effects (any that increase Impact) or Drive Disc Set Effects (such as 2-Piece Shockstar Disco).
It is difficult to suggest how much Impact is too much, as different players will have varying experiences based on their account progression, budget, or available resources. There is no definitive answer that works for all levels of content. With the current information available, players should expect to build Qingyi's Impact to at least 220 to capitalize on her build's Daze potential.
Why Does Qingyi Want so Much Impact?
Firstly, the base objective for Qingyi's best build is to reach her
Impact threshold for the ATK bonus from Three Verses of Farewell at Yang Pass.
If Qingyi's Impact stat is 120 or above, she can additionally increase her ATK
stat, up to 600 additional ATK total.
As her Impact to ATK stat increases at a 1:6 ratio, Qingyi would require a threshold of
220 Impact to fully benefit from her Three Verses of Farewell at Yang Pass.
Any additional Impact will increase the rate at which Daze accumulates on targets, which helps
Qingyi solidify her place as a beneficial Stun Agent in your squad.
However, keep in mind that by building Qingyi's Impact to 220, you may already accumulate enough Daze on certain targets with just one full Basic Attack Combo. If this happens, you may have diminishing returns on additional Impact beyond 220, and should consider looking into increasing her overall damage output instead, such as through ATK, CRIT Rate, CRIT Damage, and Electric DMG. Players can also look into increasing her Energy Generation Rate, as it affects the speed of activating Qingyi's Flash Connect.
Qingyi's Skill Priority
Prioritize Qingyi's Core Skill first, as it improves her unconditional Stun DMG multiplier whenever she uses Basic Attack: Enchanted Moonlit Blossoms.
How to Play Qingyi
As a Stun Agent, Qingyi is able to accumulate more Daze than Agents of other types, making it easy to stun targets and enable Chain Attacks. In addition, Qingyi is also able to Dodge while maintaining her Basic Attack Combo, which can have a wide area of effect. This gives Qingyi the freedom to manoeuver around multiple enemies without losing damage uptime nor daze accumulation.
Qingyi's general gameplay focuses on two goals:
- Building Flash Connect Voltage to enter the Flash Connect State
- In Flash Connect State, applying and maintaining stacks of Subjugation
Much of Qingyi's kit is synergetic, and she thrives in a squad that allows her to attack for long periods on-field. While she may not do as much damage as an Attack or Anomaly Agent can, Qingyi can provide an increase to overall squad DMG through Flash Connect, giving Qingyi a solid place in any composition looking for both fast stuns and better squad damage overall.
Qingyi's Flash Connect
Qingyi has a unique combat system called "Flash Connect." Whenever she does Electric DMG, she builds up her Flash Connect Voltage gauge. When this gauge hits 75% of the bar or higher (up to 100%), Qingyi enters the Flash Connect State, giving her increases to both Damage and Daze inflicted on targets.
Qingyi can build her Flash Connect Voltage through the following means:
- Basic Attack: Penultimate (also known as the Basic Attack Combo)
- Basic Attack: Enchanted Blossoms
- Special Attack: Sunlit Glory
- EX Special Attack: Moonlit Begonia
- Quick Assist: Wind Through the Pines
- Assist Follow-Up: Song of the Clear River
- Dodge Counter: Lingering Sentiments
- Chain Attack: Tranquil Serenade
- Ultimate: Eight Sounds of Ganzhou
Alternatively, Qingyi cannot build Voltage through her Basic Attack: Enchanted Moonlit Blossoms (only available in Flash Connect State), Defensive Assist, or Dash Attack.
As much of Qingyi's kit has Electric DMG built in, she benefits from staying on-field, dealing damage until she cycles through a Flash Connect State; or until the target is stunned (and a Chain Attack sequence can begin). As a result, players will want Qingyi to build her Voltage gauge and enter the Flash Connect State as soon as possible. This is feasible, as long as Qingyi is able to maintain her bread-and-butter, the Basic Attack Combo.
Qingyi's Basic Attack Combo
(1st) > (2nd) > (3rd) > ... > Hold (4th / Finisher)
Before we get into Qingyi's Core Passive, we should go over Qingyi's primary Voltage builder: the Basic Attack Combo. Qingyi's Basic Attack: Penultimate allows her to indefinitely maintain the string of attacks after the 3rd hit applies, so long as she continues to attack the target(s). If the attacks following the 3rd hit are maintained for a short period, she can do an enhanced finisher, dealing 200% more damage than the un-enhanced finisher. Qingyi can also continue to maintain her Basic Attack Combo through Dodge, giving her the freedom to move around without fear of getting hurt or interrupting her Combo.
If players start the attack string with an EX Special Attack, Qingyi can directly follow up with the 3rd hit of the Basic Attack Combo.
Qingyi's Subjugation Stacks
Qingyi's Core Passive: Eternal Seasons is only in effect when Qingyi is in the Flash Connect State. This means that, to start applying Subjugations, which are Stun DMG Multiplier stacks, Qingyi needs to build her Voltage gauge to 75% or higher as fast as possible.
In the Flash Connect State, Qingyi is able to do an enhanced Basic Attack Combo called Basic Attack: Enchanted Moonlit Blossoms. When Qingyi does the Finishing Strike (or Finisher) of the enhanced Basic Attack Combo, she can apply Subjugation stacks on enemy targets. This Finishing Strike can also be executed sooner if the combo button is released early. However, keep in mind that based on Rush and Finishing Strike Multipliers, ending the enhanced Basic Attack Combo early will make Qingyi do less Damage and Daze overall.
If Qingyi performs a Perfect Dodge with her Finishing Strike while in the Flash Connect State, Qingyi will immediately apply 10 stacks of Subjugation to the target upon hitting.
Each Subjugation stack increases the targets' Stun DMG Multiplier by 3%, up to 20 stacks total per target (or 60%). These stacks will remain indefinitely until the corresponding target recovers from being stunned, after which the stacks reset and Qingyi can re-build them again.
How to Play Qingyi Summary
Essentially, if players are looking to play Qingyi effectively, they should keep the following in mind:
- Qingyi can sustain damage over long periods of time on-field
- When built correctly for Impact, she can do both high Damage and Daze in one Basic Attack Combo
- Her Basic Attack Combo can be held indefinitely with high mobility (both in and out of Flash Connect State)
- In Flash Connect State, early Finishers will have faster applications of Subjugation stacks and Invincibility Frames
- In Flash Connect State, the fastest way to build Subjugation stacks is to perform a Perfect Dodge while executing the Finisher
Qingyi's Best Mindscapes
For Qingyi's Mindscape Cinemas, while all of them benefit from her Flash Connect State to some degree, Qingyi is quite playable as a Stun Agent at M0, depending on players' gameplay and resources. Some of Qingyi's best Mindscapes are her M1 (for Voltage's quality of life), M2 (for Subjugation buffs), and M6 (for the squad's overall Attribute DMG). The M4 is nice for an extra shield (as Qingyi will often be on-field for long periods) and extra Energy (for faster EX Specials), but it is not as significant of an upgrade compared to her M1.
