Laevatain Guide & Best Builds

Welcome to our Laevatain build guide for Arknights: Endfield. Laevatain is a 6-star Sword Striker Character available in Arknights: Endfield who utilizes the Heat element.

In this guide, we'll cover everything you need to know to get the most out of your Laevatain, from building the best Gear and Weapons, to important stat priorities and combos.

Laevatain's Best Weapons

Forgeborn Scathe
  • Intellect +156 (9/9)
  • Attack +39% (9/9)

Twilight: Blazing Wail (4/9):
Heat DMG Dealt +25.6%.
When the wielder casts an ultimate, the wielder gains Basic Attack DMG Dealt +120% for 20s.
Effects of the same name cannot stack.
Forgeborn Scathe is Laevatain's signature weapon. It grants the wielder Heat damage and a large Basic Attack Damage bonus after triggering their Ultimate, for 20 seconds. Since Laevatain wants to use her Ultimate as often as possible, this weapon perfectly synergizes with her kit and abilities.
Umbral Torch
  • Intellect +156 (9/9)
  • Heat DMG +43.33% (9/9)

Infliction: Covetous Buildup (4/9):
ATK +11.2%.
Whenever Combustion or Corrosion is applied to an enemy, the wielder gains Heat and Nature DMG Dealt +12.8% for 20s.
Max stacks for effects of the same name: 2. Duration of each stack is counted separately. Effect only triggers once every 0.1s.
As a more free-to-play option, Umbral Torch grants Attack as well as a Heat and damage boost for each enemy afflicted with Combustion, stacking up to 3 times. This effect works pretty well with Laevatain's kit, since she can forcibly trigger a temporary Combustion with her Battle Skill.
Fortmaker
  • Intellect +124 (9/9)
  • Ultimate Gain Efficiency +37.14% (9/9)

Inspiring: Back to the Broken City (9/9):
ATK +14%.
Arts Intensity +70.
For a 5 Star option, Fortmaker slots in well since its main stat lines up with Laevatain's stat speciality and its secondary can feed into her Ultimate Gain and its got an intrinsic atack boost as well.
Wave Tide
  • Intellect +93 (9/9)
  • Attack +23.4% (9/9)

Pursuit: Unending Cycle (9/9):
When the wielder casts a combo skill, the wielder gains ATK +33.6% for 20s.
Effects of the same name cannot stack.
For a 4 Star Option, Wave Tide will work well. The fact is though that with the availability of 5 Star options, this weapon should only ever really be used in a leveling situation and replaced with something better as soon as possible.

Laevatain's Best Essences

Essences are one of the repeatedly farmable ways to further boost the damage of your Laevatain. Which area and essence you will want to farm will depend on the weapon you are playing, as not all Essences are compatible with every weapon. Essences will increase the stats of your weapon, as well as enhance the passive effect it provides.

  • Forgeborn Scathe: Intellect, Attack Boost, and Twilight, farmable in Wuling City.
  • Umbral Torch: Intellect, Heat Dmg Boost, and Infliction, farmable in Origin Lodespring and Power Plateau.
  • Fortmaker: Intellect, Ultimate Gain Boost, and Inspiring, farmable in Originium Science Park.
  • Wave Tide: Intellect, Attack Boost, and Pursuit, farmable in Originium Science Park and Power Plateau.

Essences can be further upgraded through a system called Etching which will be a long-term investment due to how much Sanity it takes to fully max out a weapon. You may therefore want to farm and Etch Essences for a signature weapon already if you plan on getting it in the near-future, even if you do not have the weapon yet. A simple +1/+1/+1 Essence for a temporary weapon like Fortmaker or Wave Tide will be good enough until you can get your hands on Laevatains's Forgeborn Scathe or Umbral Torch from the pass weapong selector.

Best Gear for Laevatain

Hot Work
3-piece set effect: Wearer's Arts Intensity +30.
After the wearer applies Combustion, the wearer gains Heat DMG +50% for 10s. After the wearer applies Corrosion, the wearer gains Nature DMG +50% for 10s. The aforementioned effects cannot stack.
The Hot Work 3-piece set bonus grants a large Heat damage bonus whenever the wearer applies Combustion - a perfect fit for Laevatain, who can trigger this on demand with her Battle Skill. You will want to combine this with an Offpiece that grants Ultimate Gain Efficiency, to have more frequent access to her powerful Ult. The Tide Fall Light Armor chest is the best fit since it grants both Intellect and Strength, Laevatain's Main and Secondary attributes. For kit pieces, doubling up on the Hot Work Pyrometer will grant Battle Skill Damage Bonus which is of great benefit for Laevatain.
  • Body: Tide Fall Light Armor Offpiece — Intellect, Strength, Ultimate Gain Efficiency
  • Gloves: Hot Work Set — Intellect, Strength, Heat Damage Bonus
  • Kit 1: Hot Work Set — Intellect, Battle Skill DMG%
  • Kit 2: Hot Work Set — Intellect, Battle Skill DMG%
Eternal Xiranite
3-piece set effect: Wearer's HP +1000.
After the wearer applies Amp, Protected, Susceptibility, or Weakened, other teammates gain DMG Dealt +16% for 15s. This effect cannot stack.
This is likely overkill... but it might still be worth a shot! The big draw here is the Ultimate Gain Efficiency, which were doubling down on hard here. Combining all the listed pieces will end up granting a massive 82.8% Ultimate Gain Efficiency boost, and all the gear pieces perfectly align with Laevatain's Main and Secondary attributes. Since Laevatain's main goal is to cast her Ultimate as often as possible, this set might be surprisingly potent especially at higher Artifice levels. Hot Work is likely still going to be the superior set for her, but this combo is an alternative option that can be a lot more fun to play with all the additional Ultimate casts, even if the theoretical damage might be lower.
  • Body: Tide Fall Light Armor Offpiece — Intellect, Strength, Ultimate Gain Efficiency
  • Gloves: Eternal Xiranite Set — Intellect, Strength, Ultimate Gain Efficiency
  • Kit 1: Eternal Xiranite Set — Intellect, Strength, Ultimate Gain Efficiency
  • Kit 2: Eternal Xiranite Set — Intellect, Strength, Ultimate Gain Efficiency

Leveling Gear for Laevatain

While the above gear set is the optimal choice, it might take you some time before you will be able to craft it. Below is one of the more early and mid-game sets that we recommend until you've reached the pinnacle of craftsmanship.

Mordvolt Insulation
3-piece set effect: Wearer's Intellect +50.
When the wearer's HP is above 80%, Arts DMG +20%.
Laevatain is an Int-Str Operator which makes the Blue Rarity Mordvolt Insulation set a great choice for her during the early game. The set effect itself is also quite easy to maintain as long as you don't get hit all that often.

Laevatain's Skill Priority

Skill Priority: Twilight = Smouldering Fire > Flaming Cinders > Seethe

Laevatain's primary source of damage comes from her Ultimate Twilight and her Battle Skill Smouldering Fire, making them by far the most important of her skills to prioritize for upgrading. While her Combo Skill Seethe is good and can help to build up Melting flame stacks and Ultimate charge, it is her Ultimate enhancing her Basic Attack, Flaming Cinders, that need to be prioritized first to maximize her damage, before investing in the other skills.

How to Play Laevatain

Laevatain is a Heat Damage monster whose Battle Skill has the ability to summon a Magma Fragment, and trigger temporary Combustion to all enemies in a large area. She also generates Ultimate Energy when the forced Combustion triggers. At launch she is slated to becoming the best AoE character in the game, with her Ultimate offering Sustained AoE damage and allowing her third basic attack to apply Heat Infliction.

Melting Flame stacks and Combustion are key to her playstyle, so acquiring them via her Battle and Combo Skills will speed up her Ultimate replenishment, which should be prioritized when entering combat. You will want to stack 4 Melting Flame stacks as quickly as possible, so that using her Battle Skill once more will trigger the forced Combustion Effect.
