Castrum Lacus Litore (CLL) Special Dungeon Guide

Castrum Lacus Litore, also known as 'CLL', is a special dungeon that can be can taken on and completed by up to 48 players. Players will receive a scaling echo buff when attempting it with 24 players or less, and with enough honor buffs as well as proper usage of Lost Actions, skilled players will be able to clear the duty with as few as just two players.

2.

Entry Requirements

In order to unlock CLL, players must first attain Resistance Rank 10 and begin the quest The Lady of Blades. They will then be able to see CLL in the Resistance Recruitment tab of the Duty UI, and will be able to join it in the same way as any other Critical Engagement.

  • Like most Critical Engagements, CLL has a 60 minute respawn timer, with the timer starting once the duty is completed. Unlike most Critical Engagements, CLL's respawn can be sped up by completing Skirmishes and other CEs, so an active instance will often only see 25-30 minutes between CLL runs.
  • Additionally unlike regular CEs where only one can spawn at a time and players have a total of three minutes to register and deploy, CLL has an independent spawn timer and can be available for registration and engagement alongside regular ones and has a total registration and deploy time of eight minutes.
  • CLL initially has a 20 minute time limit, however players will gain an extra 10 minutes each time a boss is defeated, as well as when the prisoner rescue section is completed.

Preparation

Players should prepare suitable Lost Actions for this duty. All players should use an Essence of some kind no matter what, as they are easily accessible and can provide extra beneficial effects to other Lost Actions that players may wish to use. Damaging actions are always beneficial, but healing or resurrecting actions are extremely helpful when playing with a smaller party or without healers. First-time players should aim to have at least one Resistance Reraiser to hand in order to mitigate lethal mistakes.

Upon entering the duty, players will see a Lost Finds Cache next to the player spawn location. This can be returned to at any point in the duty in order to pick up additional Lost Actions.

4.

Entry

Upon entering the duty, players should ensure that all participating players are in parties with other players. An equal distribution of roles is not necessary, but ensuring all parties have at least one healer and one other player with the ability to raise (either innately or through the use of Lost Actions) will ensure that no deaths occur due to a lack of healing. Phoenix Downs are useable in Bozja, but have a five minute recast time and so cannot be used reliably.

Players should then split the party roughly 50/50, with half climbing the ladders at the sides of the arena to take on Brionac atop the gates, while the other half remain at ground level to take on the Helldiver. Yell chat is the best chat for co-ordinating groups here, and parties should do their best to ensure that all members will be fighting the same boss. Both bosses must be pulled within around 15 seconds of each other, or unkillable adds will spawn that will one-shot all players, forcing a restart.

Rewards

Each chest within CLL provides a number of Bozjan Coin Icon Bozjan Coins, with 70-100 coins being given overall per run depending on the number of prisoners saved. These coins can be used to purchase i495 Bozjan gear, as well as Bozjan Runners Secrets which can be used to augment this gear in order to add the Haste stat to it, which speeds up the player's GCD speed while in Save The Queen areas.

Additionally, each personal loot coffer has a chance of dropping other rewards including Field Notes, Bozjan Runners Secrets, Orchestrion Rolls and Minions. The six chests potentially available after Adrammelech each reward a guaranteed set of forgotten fragments, with the specific ones rewarded depending on how many prisoners were saved.

Completing CLL also provides 2,174,400 - 3,366,000 Experience, 110,000 - 600,000 Mettle, and 500 Allagan Tomestones of Poetics. Players currently progressing the quest Change of Arms for the relic weapons will also receive five Loathsome Memory of the Dying Icon Loathsome Memory of the Dying.
