Tried it today since I had a mage daily quest. Never played Reno Mage and went 5-2. Notice though I now played from rank 17 to 16.
Definitely going to try this list out when I hit higher ranks.

Issue in the guide: The paragraph on mulligan strategies mentions Arcane Intellect, but it's not included in the deck list.

Thank you for pointing it out. We will be fixing this soon.

at about what rank would this deck cap out at?

This deck is very skill dependent, meaning that the max reachable rank is strongly dictated by one's skill, much more than with pirate warrior or dragon priest. That being said this deck can definitely reach legend rank.

can i still run this deck if i have everything but Thalnos? if so what are some replacements for him

Absolutely. Loot Hoarder against control, Kobold Geomancer/Cult Sorcerer against aggro. In current meta, I'd go with Cult Sorcerer. Another possible swaps are Han SoloIce Barrier or Sen'jin Shieldmasta.

Why use the kobold when you are a mage? 3\2 is better than 2\2

Oh, sorry. I automatically suggest Kobold Geomancer since Spirit Claws were released and so many people were asking for a Bloodmage Thalnos swap. Yeah, Cult Sorcerer is better than Kobold Geomancer and the only reason a player would use Kobold Geomancer is because of not having Cult Sorcerer. Again, I apologize.

The team has finally responded to the community's concerns on the new Shaman legendary minion.
Two weeks after The Witchwood's release, Team 5 has addressed the issues surrounding Shudderwock. Its animation will go faster and it will cap at 20 Battlecries. Hopefully, it will be less of a nuisance now. Lifedrinker will also receive a bump on its animation speed.
I assume the fix will go live on April 26 along with the Monster Hunt.
      Jesse Hill
Recently, our players have had feedback regarding the Shaman card, Shudderwock. We understand that the length of its Battlecry animation and other animations spawned from its Battlecry can be frustrating. In a future update, we will be doubling the animation speed of Shudderwock’s Battlecry so it will lessen the impact on the overall pacing of your current Hearthstone match. In addition, the amount of Battlecries Shudderwock can reproduce will be capped at 20.
We will also be speeding up the animation of Lifedrinker for similar reasons.
Thank you for your feedback, and we’ll see you in the Tavern.
      Cheers!

The rewards are different for each rank. You receive the chest for the best rank you achieve, so do not be afraid of dropping a rank. Additionally, after reaching a milestone rank (ranks in bold), you will not fall below them that season again. This means that if you lose a game at rank 15 with 0 stars, you will not drop to rank 16, but rather stay at rank 15 with no stars.
      Rank Reward 25-21 None 20 1 golden common, 5 dust 19 1 golden common, 10 dust 18 1 golden common, 15 dust 17 1 golden common, 20 dust 16 1 golden common, 25 dust 15 1 golden common, 1 golden rare, 5 dust 14 1 golden common, 1 golden rare, 10 dust 13 1 golden common, 1 golden rare, 15 dust 12 1 golden common, 1 golden rare, 20 dust 11 1 golden common, 1 golden rare, 25 dust 10 2 golden commons, 1 golden rare, 5 dust 9 2 golden commons, 1 golden rare, 10 dust 8 2 golden commons, 1 golden rare, 15 dust 7 2 golden commons, 1 golden rare, 20 dust 6 2 golden commons, 1 golden rare, 25 dust 5 2 golden commons, 1 golden epic, 5 dust 4 2 golden commons, 1 golden epic, 10 dust 3 2 golden commons, 1 golden epic, 15 dust 2 2 golden commons, 1 golden epic, 20 dust 1 2 golden commons, 1 golden epic, 25 dust Legend 3 golden commons, 1 golden epic You also receive a card back for winning 5 games during the season.
