They wanted to educate the player base at the same time Deathwing is hitting, that's why they invented Nexus Anomalies. The XP Globes improve solo laning, which has become stale over time. Nexus Anomalies, in general, is a new system that allows them to be more flexible with typical gameplay updates. The goal is to have Nexus Anomalies coming out with the Season rolls (once every three months). They want them to be focused and will listen to the community and collect feedback. They have a list of about 20 Nexus Anomalies that they want to bring to the game. One of the Anomalies they've tested internally revolves around bringing back Tower Ammo, but even after speeding things up, it took too much time for Towers to reload, which felt generally bad for the game, so they decided to scrap it. Another Anomaly thing they tried was turning wizards into sappers which is something the community's asked for a whole bunch, which delivered the globe to the enemy sometimes. They're overall happy with the cadence now that there's more breathing room in between updates. They're not developing any new Battlegrounds right now. Blackheart's Bay and Haunted Mines are still being internally tested and they still haven't figured out how to fix them. Interview VOD

Here's a recap of the Heroes Q&A from this year's BlizzCon. We learned more about Deathwing, why Ragnaros skins are hard to make, and plans for the game in 2020.
All of the brawl maps have their own data and coding. Every time they add something new to the game, they would need to update them too and maintain an upkeep which is a lot of work. The team wants to bring back old popular brawls like Pull Party, the Nova/Sgt. Hammer brawl, and so forth. The team's internally discussing a dedicated ARAM mode. All Heroes are free to play until November 11. 2020 will focus on Heroes and Seasonal events. Battlegrounds are tricky to make because they have massive art costs upfront and there are currently no plans to make news Battlegrounds at this time. They've made a lot of internal changes to Blackheart's Bay and Haunted Mines the development and playtesting are still ongoing. They had to carefully determine the size of Deathwing because when you're this massive Hero, you become a magnet for skill shots and AoEs, just because you're easier to hit. He is big, but not squishy. On the other hand, body blocking and fitting through certain elements on the map also needed to be taken into consideration. Deathwing can't heal in the fountain by design. He heals 2.5% of HP per second while in the sky and it would become better for you to hearth, walk out, and hearth again to get your health back faster than sitting in the sky, which they wanted to avoid. Deathwing can still hide in the bushes. Deathwing was the most requested Hero by the community. Ragnaros is hard to make skins for due to the way he was built. Red and blue Heroes cause a lot of weird scenarios and confusion, so they don't want to release more recolors for Ragnaros. Deathwing has five color variations. Deathwing's landing animation has different colors for each team. Deathwing will still have Frostbite on him, but won't get Slowed. Gravity Lapse will hit him, but do nothing, Frostbolt will actually pierce. Silences don't affect him, but Blinds do. Cassia will ignore his Armor plates, and any Armor Reduction will work. Malthael, Tychus, Valla, and Zul'jin are very effective Heroes against Deathwing. Deathwing has no Quest talents. His kit is unique enough and they didn't want to make it too overwhelming. They don't want level 1 talents to determine your whole build. You can find more details in our BlizzCon 2019 Content Hub and the Heroes Deep Dive Panel Recap.

What's Coming to Heroes of the Storm?
A Toy 2.0 event is planned shortly after Deathwing with the return of a familiar game board and quests. It comes with new skins.
Here's a new Mephisto skin to go with the event.
The team has been hard at work to also bring you Cosmonaut Qhira.
...and the very first interactive mount!
People that will own the toy train mount can share it with their allies.
Any Hero that doesn't own it can channel for a couple of seconds before jumping into their own cart mount. You can all move on the train as a team straight to the enemy Core.
These are targeted changes coming in the Deathwing patch that change the course of games. The team will be able to change them based on feedback or remove them from the game completely. All slain Minions, for instance, will drop small Experience Orbs that will magnetize towards you when you move close to them. This brings back meaningful solo lane. Abathur will receive XP from his hat.
Master-level players and higher will only be able to queue with one other player in Storm League, and those players must also be Master players or higher.
The team has listened to community feedback and designed new Hero Mastery Rings available at levels 50 and 100+. The final ring will show your current Hero level.
The team is hard at work creating a ready check system for the game at the start and an auto-requeue system for you and your party when the game fails to create to get you back in.
