Illuga Best Teams and Team Compositions

Illuga is a synergistic 4-star support for Zibai. Zibai deals direct Lunar-Crystallize and enables the reaction, whereas Illuga can buff direct Lunar-Crystallize damage through his burst and provide further buffs, such as 5% CRIT Rate and 10% CRIT DMG for Geo attacks.

Columbina pairs well with Illuga in most teams, especially with Zibai. Columbina can buff lunar reactions and is a Hydro unit who enables Lunar-Crystallize and fulfills Illuga's 4th ascension passive requirement.

Without Zibai, Columbina can be with other damage dealers, especially Geo damage dealers, where she enables the Lunar-Crystallize reaction. She can also make use of Illuga's Lunar-Crystallize buffs by acting as a quick-swap DPS, where Columbina is briefly used on-field to deal direct Lunar-Crystallize damage between rotations.

Other Geo damage dealers, such as Navia or Arataki Itto, do not deal direct Lunar-Crystallize or enable the reaction. However, if used with Columbina, other Geo damage dealers can also be played in Lunar-Crystallize teams. In such teams, Illuga buffs both your Geo damage dealer's Geo damage and Columbina's direct Lunar-Crystallize damage whenever she switches in.

Alternatively, Illuga can be used just to buff Geo damage, which he has the ability to do through his burst, though the bonus damage provided is at a much lower scale compared to his direct Lunar-Crystallize damage buff. In such teams, Illuga can provide decent value, but not at the same level as a dedicated 5-star support such as Xilonen.
