Welcome to our Addons & Macros guide for Priests where you will find out what the best addons and macros are for your Priest in WoW Classic.

1.

Macros for Priests

Macros can be a vital part of both effectively healing your allies as Holy or Discipline, but also doing damage to your enemies as Shadow in a timely manner. They enhance the buttons you have on your bars and can add some extra functionality to make the button presses smarter. A popular alternative to macros for healing is the Clique addon, mentioned below in the addons section.

1.1.

Basic Healing Macro

This macro is the basis of all of your healing and buff spell macros. You simply replace SPELL with the spell you want that should be cast on a friendly unit including healing spells and dispels. It works like this:

  • Holding Alt: Self Cast.
  • Mouseover Friend: Cast on Mouseover.
  • Target Friend: Cast on Target.
  • Target Enemy Targeting Friend: Cast on Enemy's Target.
  • Default casting Behaviour: Casts as if there was no macro, and generates the tooltip.
  • #showtooltip
  • /cast [mod:alt,@player] [@mouseover,help,nodead] [help] [@targettarget,help,nodead] [] SPELL
1.2.

Basic Damage Macro

This is a basic mouseover macro for offensive spells, it works like this:

  • Mouseover Enemy: Cast on Mouseover.
  • Default casting Behaviour: Casts as if there was no macro, and generates the tooltip.
  • #showtooltip
  • /cast [@mouseover,harm,nodead] [] SPELL

This macro can also be used for offensive spells that do not do damage, such as Shackle Undead Icon Shackle Undead and Mind Control Icon Mind Control.

1.3.

Wand Macro

This macro lets you shoot with your wand and does not cancel shooting if you press it multiple times, reducing the chance you accidentally stop wanding.

  • #showtooltip
  • /cast !Shoot
1.4.

Shadow Healing Spell macro

Because you cannot use most Holy and Discipline spells in Shadowform Icon Shadowform, adding the below line after #showtooltip to your macros will remove Shadowform if it is active, allowing the spell to be cast.

  • #showtooltip
  • /cancelaura Shadowform
  • /cast [mod:alt,@player] [@mouseover,help,nodead] [help] [@targettarget,help,nodead] [] SPELL

Addons for Priests

Your interface can help make playing the game easier, allowing you to customize the positioning of different things. You can also use Addons to track more specific things, such as swing timers and Energy regeneration, allowing you to plan your abilities and cooldowns easier. Your UI is specific to you and your own preferences, but this section will give recommendations on Addons that will enhance your playing experience.

2.1.

TukUI

TukUI is a complete replacement of the default interface. It is highly customizable and provides many useful features that the default interface does not. If you are looking to get up and running quickly and do not want to mess around with trying to build your own interface out of many different Addons, TukUI is highly recommended.

2.2.

OmniCC

OmniCC provides numbers over your bars that show the remaining cooldown on abilities.

2.3.

Clique

Clique Classic allows you to bind your spells and abilities to mouse button presses on your player, party and raid frames. This can complement or be an alternative to mouseover macros and makes your spells and abilities be easily accessible when working with your party and raid frames.

2.4.

Questie Classic

Questie Classic marks quests and quest objectives for the quests you are currently doing on your world map and minimap. This addon will help speed up your leveling a lot, but it was not available in the original WoW Classic, so if you want a true WoW Classic experience, then you can avoid using this addon.

2.5.

Azeroth Auto Pilot - Classic

Azeroth Auto Pilot - Classic also deals with questing, but instead of showing you quests adequate for you level like Questie, it will specifically direct you in a predefined quest path, depending on your level, zone, race, and class.

2.6.

WeakAuras

There is a Weak Auras version under development for WoW Classic. While it is still uncertain what functionalities it will have, we will keep track of the project and update as required.

2.7.

MapCoords Classic

MapCoords Classic places coordinates on your world map and minimap, which allow you to communicate and understand exact locations on WoW Classic easily. This is very helpful since the map did not outline where things were in Classic accurately, such as not showing where quest monsters were.

2.8.

Boss Mods: Deadly Boss Mods

Boss mods are Addons that warn you about boss abilities and give you live advice on how to handle some mechanics. Deadly Boss Mods has already released a WoW Classic version.

2.9.

Threat Meter

While a threat meter is certainly indispensable in WoW Classic, this is very important as a Priest, since you can experience threat issues during your burst phase. We will update this page once there is a stable working one for the Beta.

2.10.

Classic Aura Durations

By installing Classic Aura Durations, the buffs/debuffs on your UI gain a duration indicator. This includes raid frame debuffs, which are very handy when raid-wide de-cursing is needed.

2.11.

Recount

You can find a working version of Recount here, back in all of its old school glory for WoW Classic.
