Throw Barbarian Build for Diablo 2 Resurrected

Last updated on Sep 30, 2021 at 12:00 by MrLlamaSC 2 comments

The Throw Barbarian is a heavily gear dependent character that takes advantage of the Double Throw Double Throw and Throwing Mastery Throwing Mastery skills. While the build can put out a lot of single-target damage, its area of effect damage is very lacking, and so must be played carefully against large group of enemies, with Howl Howl typically used to isolate Unique monsters. Although damage may be low without gear, the Throw Barb is capable of taking on Uber Tristram once fully built.

1.

Introduction

Dual wielding Throwing Weapons on the Barbarian is not the first thing someone thinks about when they see a giant tank, but it is actually a viable build that can play through all areas of the game including Uber Tristram. The lack of area of effect damage and steep gearing requirements makes the build fairly inaccessible, especially on the first time playing through the game, but for an endgame build or a difficult challenge, the Throw Barb is a fabulous choice.

You can check the viability of this build in PvM by consulting our PvM Tier List.

Throw Barbarian Breakpoints

In Diablo 2, stats that affect action speed (known as frames) for attacking, casting, blocking, and recovering from a hit can almost never be taken literally. For example, gaining 10% Increased Attack Speed from an item will not necessarily translate into 10% faster attacks. To achieve faster actions, certain breakpoints must be reached, which vary for every class. The tables below list how much of a given stat is required to actually improve the action speed of the class for the stated action.

6.1.

Faster Hit Recovery Breakpoints

Hit Recovery Breakpoints
Frames to perform action 9 8 7 6 5 4 3
Faster Hit Recovery required to reach frame 0% 7% 15% 27% 48% 86% 200%
6.2.

Faster Cast Rate Breakpoints

Frames to perform action 13 12 11 10 9 8 7
Faster Cast Rate required to reach frame 0% 9% 20% 37% 63% 105% 200%
7.

Throw Barbarian Mercenary

The optimal Mercenary in for the Throw Barbarian is an Act 1 Cold Mercenary, but only if you can afford Faith. Otherwise, using an Act 2 Mercenary (Blessed Aim Blessed Aim, Might Might, or Holy Freeze Holy Freeze) is preferable.

8.
