Firepower Enhancement Artillerist Guide for Lost Ark

Last updated on May 18, 2022 at 23:37 by Sywo 6 comments

This Artillerist build, based on Swiftness and Crit, provides a balanced gameplay, with a relatively easy learning curve and rotation, and specializes in maximizing damage during the Firepower buff.

1.

Firepower Enhancement Artillerist Overview

DISCLAIMER: Artillerist has recently received many changes to it's class engravings and skills but only on the KR version as of today. These changes will affect how you build your character. The following guide is up-to-date based on the version we currently have in NA/EU, however, after we will get the most recent balance patch, parts of your build will need to be changed.

The Swiftness/Critical build provides stable DPS with a very high crit chance, centered around our Firepower buff, while at the same time, empowering the Artillerist to feel comfortable during faster paced fights thanks to the Swiftness main stat.

3.

Artillerist Firepower Enhancement Skill Build

Here are two builds, depending on your available skill points:

If you need a faster counter, or more mobility, you can easily replace Enhanced Shell Icon Enhanced Shell with Swing Icon Swing, in which case you would take your party synergy on Summon Turret Icon Summon Turret. Here is how that build would look like:

Your group synergy skill is Enhanced Shell Icon Enhanced Shell with the level 1 tripod Armor Destruction, which reduces the target's defense by 12% for 6 seconds. It can and should be maintained for 100% uptime.

Your group utility skill is Napalm Shot Icon Napalm Shot with the level 1 tripod Target Focus, which increases the stagger damage dealt by you and your party members on the foe by 20% for 4 seconds. Napalm Shot Icon Napalm Shot is also used as a counter skill in this build, if necessary.

Artillerist's hardest hitting skills are Homing Barrage Icon Homing Barrage, Air Raid Icon Air Raid and Multiple Rocket Launcher Icon Multiple Rocket Launcher. Firepower gauge generation comes mainly from Flamethrower Icon Flamethrower.

As for skill points priority, invest in the following order:

  1. Homing Barrage Icon Homing Barrage
  2. Air Raid Icon Air Raid
  3. Multiple Rocket Launcher Icon Multiple Rocket Launcher
  4. Summon Turret Icon Summon Turret
  5. Flamethrower Icon Flamethrower
  6. Enhanced Shell Icon Enhanced Shell
  7. Energy Field Icon Energy Field
  8. Napalm Shot Icon Napalm Shot

Artillerist Firepower Enhancement Skill Rotation

Enhanced Shell Icon Enhanced ShellSummon Turret Icon Summon TurretNapalm Shot Icon Napalm Shot > Flamethrower Icon Flamethrower → (Level 1 Firepower reached) → Enhanced Shell Icon Enhanced Shell > Homing Barrage Icon Homing BarrageAir Raid Icon Air RaidMultiple Rocket Launcher Icon Multiple Rocket Launcher) > Enhanced Shell Icon Enhanced Shell (Level 2 Firepower reached) → Summon Turret Icon Summon Turret > Napalm Shot Icon Napalm ShotEnhanced Shell Icon Enhanced ShellFlamethrower Icon Flamethrower (level 3 Firepower reached) → Homing Barrage Icon Homing BarrageAir Raid Icon Air Raid > Enhanced Shell Icon Enhanced ShellBarrage: Howitzer Icon Barrage: Howitzer > Barrage: Energy Cannon Icon Barrage: Energy CannonMultiple Rocket Launcher Icon Multiple Rocket Launcher > Summon Turret Icon Summon TurretEnhanced Shell Icon Enhanced ShellHoming Barrage Icon Homing Barrage > Air Raid Icon Air Raid.

The above is an ideal rotation, however, it often gets interrupted by various things such as your need to move, participation in mechanics, or boss movement. The key things are to not use big skills without any firepower buff and to maximize your DPS during Firepower level 3, by using as many high DPS skills as possible.

The first goal is to reach level 1 Firepower without committing any big skills. Upon reaching it, several things come together. Some of them are related to the Firepower buff, such as a 10% increase in damage and a 30% increase in crit chance from Firepower Enhancement Icon Firepower Enhancement. Other things that are unrelated to the Firepower buff but also come at the same time as we reach there, are the Adrenaline Icon Adrenaline effect with an extra 15% crit chance and 6% attack power increase and the 5 set piece bonus of 50% increased crit damage. This is when our first usage of the big skills comes along.

The second goal is to use Homing Barrage Icon Homing Barrage and Air Raid Icon Air Raid twice during Firepower level 3, alongside the two Bombardment skills and Multiple Rocket Launcher Icon Multiple Rocket Launcher after we exit bombardment mode. Due to mechanics or various circumstances, you might not be always able to use the important regular skills twice, during a Firepower buff, and that is okay.

Your Bombardment mode is a high-risk-high-reward deal. Because of this, try to always maximize its potential by using them during Firepower level 3 buff. But as we discussed above with the regular skills, do not be afraid to skip entering the Bombardment mode during a Firepower buff if you feel that it is too risky.

It is very important to remember that Enhanced Shell Icon Enhanced Shell should be used as often as it is available. It is sort-of an "in-between" skill. Not only do we need the debuff it provides, but it is also a decent DPS skill and helps to keep up Adrenaline Icon Adrenaline.

Summon Turret Icon Summon Turret does not come with the armor reduction debuff in this build, thus, it can be cast off cooldown as it is a good DPS skill. The high Swiftness stat also allows for a short enough cooldown to keep 100% uptime on the bleed stacks.

Napalm Shot Icon Napalm Shot stagger debuff should also be on the target as often as the skill is off cooldown, but it is not as crucial as Enhanced Shell Icon Enhanced Shell, for example. In the rotation above, it is used at the beginning, in order to have it on the boss before other classes commit their skills.

Energy Field Icon Energy Field should be used as often as you need it. In this build, it serves no rotation purpose but comes in very handy to avoid being interrupted during skill casting. Overall, this is a fantastic skill worth investing to level 10. It can be immensely useful right before entering level 3 Firepower, as you do not want to be interrupted while attempting to burst.

If you start with the Awakening skill, because you use the Nightmare relic gear set, your Firepower Gauge is almost instantly at level 3, then only apply the part of the rotation that comes after Firepower level 3 is reached.

5.

Artillerist Firepower Enhancement Stat Priority

The goal of this build is to achieve a crit rate of 70% or above.

The combat stats we are looking for are 500 Crit and 1500+ Swiftness. In other words, enough Crit stat to get you to ~15% crit chance, and the rest in Swiftness.

5.1.

Artillerist Firepower Enhancement Pet Selection

Swiftness should be taken as we already have enough crit rate and in general. Assign your pet to give you the stat you already have more of, simply because it provides a larger benefit mathematically.

Artillerist Gearing Options

Before item level 1445: The Argos set, Harsh Oath, is a good fit for this build, as it provides a flat 50% increase in crit damage for having all five pieces. Play this set with ~1300 Crit and 500 Swiftness. The reason why we deviate from a full-on Swiftness build before item level 1445 is mana consumption. Anything above 1000 Swiftness will cause you to run out of mana often during fights, and since we do not have a mana regen set of gear available, it is better to play with a lower Swiftness stat. It is important to note that if you do play with ~1350 Crit stat, you do not need Adrenaline Icon Adrenaline, as it would put you over 100% crit chance, which is not ideal. Furthermore, if you use Lostwind Cliff Icon Lostwind Cliff card set, you can even play with Firepower Enhancement Icon Firepower Enhancement at level 1, maybe as your 4th or 5th engraving. To be noted that if a party member has the opposite Argos set equipped, we receive an extra 25% crit rate increase, on paper.

Needless to say, that would put us at over 100% crit rate, which is not ideal, but at the same time, we can not really count on the Total Lunar Eclipse bonus, because it gets activated once you have five stacks of Full Moon. So there is always a downtime of five skills or five attacks before we receive it. This downtime might come at a time when we are in a burst phase or during Firepower level 3, or while we are in Barrage mode. Because of this uncertainty, I would rather not count the Total Lunar Eclipse set bonus of 25% extra crit chance, and just have enough without it. This set bonus is still great for the time when we are in Firepower level 1 so there is value - just do not build your character assuming you will always have it at the right moments.

After item level 1445: The Nightmare relic set is a fantastic choice. You can play this with 500 Crit and 1500 Swiftness.

Artillerist Firepower Enhancement Engravings

  • Grudge Icon Grudge - top tier Engraving for DPS classes. Only use it if level 3. In Artillerist's case, the +20% damage taken is basically negated by our Firepower Enhancement Icon Firepower Enhancement.
  • Firepower Enhancement Icon Firepower Enhancement - fantastic choice because of the damage reduction and Crit rate increase. This Engraving is very valuable even at level 1.
  • Keen Blunt Weapon Icon Keen Blunt Weapon - fits perfectly with our high Crit rate.
  • Adrenaline Icon Adrenaline - a great addition to this build, putting us at just over 80% Crit chance, and increasing our attack power, too. Easy to maintain in a Swiftness build as it is a faster paced one.

After item level 1415, with Relic grade accessories, you have the possibility to max out five different engravings. As a fifth, you can take Cursed Doll Icon Cursed Doll or Hit Master Icon Hit Master.

8.

Artillerist Firepower Enhancement Runes

Below is the listed priority for placing Runes on skills. Note the quality of the Rune, as it may be important to prioritize certain grades of Runes onto certain skills based on usage.

9.

Artillerist Firepower Enhancement Gems

We focus on gems for the skills that are the most important, so in order of importance:

  1. Homing Barrage Icon Homing Barrage - damage and cooldown
  2. Air Raid Icon Air Raid - damage and cooldown
  3. Multiple Rocket Launcher Icon Multiple Rocket Launcher - damage and cooldown
  4. Summon Turret Icon Summon Turret - damage and cooldown
  5. Enhanced Shell Icon Enhanced Shell - damage
  6. Barrage: Focus Fire Icon Barrage: Focus Fire - damage
  7. Barrage: Energy Cannon Icon Barrage: Energy Cannon - damage
  8. Flamethrower Icon Flamethrower - damage

Make sure you use the highest level of the cooldown rune on your Multiple Rocket Launcher Icon Multiple Rocket Launcher because it is the only high damage skill that has a higher cooldown than the rest.

10.

Artillerist Firepower Enhancement Card Sets

The best DPS card set is Light of Salvation Icon Light of Salvation, so this should be your priority. The Lostwind Cliff Icon Lostwind Cliff set is a great choice as well, and is much easier to obtain.

Artillerist Firepower Enhancement Tips

Remember that the highest potential for damage is during Firepower level 3, so try to get comfortable with looking at your gauge alongside the boss mechanics and cast accordingly.

In case you have miss used your skills or the rotation was interrupted, do not be afraid to simply wait a couple of seconds, until your big skill cooldowns recover, before going into level 3 Firepower.

If you feel that entering Bombardment mode is too risky during a Firepower 3 buff - do not do it. Even though the skills are high DPS, we are not playing a Specialization build, so it is more important to stay alive and/or feel comfortable.

It is important to try and hit certain timings with skill usage, in particular Homing Barrage Icon Homing Barrage and Air Raid Icon Air Raid, which need to be cast immediately after entering level 1 Firepower. If you cast them sooner, they become less valuable as a lot of buffs come available at the same time as hitting Firepower 1. If you cast them too late, they will not be available at the time you hit level 3 Firepower (or you will have to hold back on getting to Firepower 3 on purpose).

If you are finding it hard to keep up the armor reduction debuff from Enhanced Shell Icon Enhanced Shell, feel free to use Summon Turret Icon Summon Turret instead, but make sure not to spam cast them as you need a constant debuff on the target. You can keep Enhanced Shell Icon Enhanced Shell as a DPS skill, choosing Vital Point Barrage instead.

If you are struggling with mana, or for an increase in DPS, use Expert Crispy Grilled Swewers or Master's Chewey Grilled Skewers.

If you cannot get four Engravings to level 3, feel free to remove Grudge Icon Grudge. Even though it is a fantastic DPS increase and a core Engraving, this build does not work without the crit rate provided by Adrenaline Icon Adrenaline or Firepower Enhancement Icon Firepower Enhancement at level 3, while Keen Blunt Weapon Icon Keen Blunt Weapon will.

If you cannot get four Engravings to level 3, feel free to remove Keen Blunt Weapon Icon Keen Blunt Weapon or in the worst case scenario, Grudge Icon Grudge. Even though they are core Engravings, this build does not work without the crit rate provided by Adrenaline Icon Adrenaline or Firepower Enhancement Icon Firepower Enhancement at level 3.
