Aria Guide and Best Builds
Aria Guide & Best Builds
Welcome to our Aria build guide for Zenless Zone Zero. Aria is a powerful S-Rank Ether Anomaly DPS Agent. In our guide, we will cover everything you need to know to get the most out of your Aria, from building the best Drive Discs and W-Engines, to important stat priorities and combos.
Aria's Best W-Engines
Listed below are Aria's best W-Engines. While W-Engines are listed in a priority order, what is best to build can vary slightly depending on your team composition or account funding.
Angel in the Shell
Increases the equipper's Anomaly Proficiency by 90/103/117/130/144. When the equipper is an Ether character, and comes on-field or uses a Special Attack or EX Special Attack, they gain a buff: DMG dealt to enemies afflicted with Attribute Anomalies increases by 20/23/26/29/32%, and all Attribute Anomaly DMG they trigger increases by 10/11.5/13/14.5/16%, lasting 15s. Repeated triggers reset the duration, and the effect is removed when switching off-field.
Flight of Fancy
Increases Anomaly Buildup Rate by 40/46/52/58/64%. When the equipper deals Ether DMG, their Anomaly Proficiency increases by 20/23/26/29/32 for 5s, stacking up to 6 times. This effect can trigger once every 0.5s, and repeated triggers reset the duration.
Of the W-Engines that provide Anomaly Proficiency as the Advanced Stat, Vivian's signature W-Engine is a solid choice. Its W-Engine effect additionally provides stackable Anomaly Proficiency upon attacking with Ether DMG multiple times. This will progressively increase damage dealt, so long as she continues attacking.
However, keep in mind that Core Passive: Innate Stage Presence's Abloom effect depends on Anomaly Mastery, not Proficiency. As such, Aria will need Anomaly Mastery from other sources, as this W-Engine (and many others) do not provide any.
Weeping Gemini
Whenever a squad member inflicts an Attribute Anomaly on an enemy, the equipper gains a buff that increases Anomaly Proficiency by 30/34/38/42/48, stacking up to 4 times. This effect expires when the target recovers from Stun or is defeated. The duration of each stack is calculated separately.
Electro-Lip Gloss
When there are enemies inflicted with Attribute Anomaly on the field, the equipper's ATK increases by 10/11.5/13/14.5/16% and they deal an additional 15/17.5/20/22.5/25% more DMG to the target.
Rainforest Gourmet
For every 10 Energy consumed, the equipper gains a buff that increases ATK by 2.5/2.8/3.2/3.6/4% for 10s, stacking up to 10 times. The duration of each stack is calculated separately.
If you are looking for a F2P option, the Rainforest Gourmet is a comparable option to Electro-Lip Gloss. Though it cannot provide the additional 15% DMG, the ATK % values are equal whenever Aria uses her .
This W-Engine also provides more consistent damage than Roaring Ride, but not necessarily lower. It does not provide any Anomaly Mastery.
Roaring Ride
When EX Special Attack hits an enemy, one of three possible effects is randomly triggered for 5 seconds. This effect can trigger once every 0.3s. The same types of effects cannot stack. Repeated triggers reset the duration, allowing several effects to be active at once:
Increases the equipper's ATK by 8/9.2/10.4/11.6/12.8%, increases the equipper's Anomaly Proficiency by 40/46/52/58/64, or increases the equipper's Anomaly Buildup Rate by 25/28/32/36/40%.
Best Drive Discs for Aria
Phaethon's Melody
4-Piece Set: When any squad member uses an EX Special Attack, the equipper's Anomaly Proficiency increases by 45 for 8s. If the character using the EX Special Attack is not the equipper, the equipper's Ether DMG is increased by 25%.
2-Piece Recommendations include:
- Shining Aria / Chaotic Metal
- Chaos Jazz / Freedom Blues
If you want a more diverse spread of damage multipliers, we recommend using a 2-piece set that provides additional Ether DMG. If you are lacking in damage, you can also consider any 2-piece set that provides Anomaly Proficiency as well.
Shining Aria
4-Piece Set: When the equipper's Basic Attack hits an enemy, their Anomaly Proficiency increases by 36, lasting 8s. Repeated triggers reset the duration. When any enemy on the field is Stunned, the equipper's DMG increases by 25% for 18s. Repeated triggers reset the duration.
Players are only recommended to farm this set if they are already working on White Water Ballad, as Phaethon's Melody is more cost-efficient for other Ether Anomaly Agents.
2-Piece Recommendations include:
- Phaethon's Melody
- Chaos Jazz / Freedom Blues
- Chaotic Metal
Aria's best stat to build is her Anomaly Mastery, and currently, only 2-piece Phaethon's Melody is available. There are not many sources of Anomaly Mastery available, so try to prioritize this set when possible.
Alternatively, you can also pair with the other Ether DMG Drive Disc set Chaotic Metal, or an Anomaly Proficiency one such as Chaos Jazz or Freedom Blues.
Aria's Stat Priority
When building Aria, try to prioritize the Anomaly Mastery, Anomaly Proficiency, and Ether DMG Drive Discs first. You can opt for ATK % on Drive Disc 6 as well, but try to replace it for Anomaly Mastery as soon as possible. On other Drive Discs, ATK may become oversaturated.
Aria's Skill Priority
Prioritize Aria's Core Skill first, then her Ultimate. Her Specials and Basic Attacks should both be equally distributed, as they make up the largest part of her damage spread. Leave her Dodge and Assist for last.
How to Play Aria
Aria's playstyle can be summarized into three aspects:
- Generate and Collect Fandom Powers to Charge Up with
- Use Ultimate: 100% Energy to activate Moment of Delusion
- Trigger Abloom via Basic Attack: Perfect Pitch when possible (thanks to Core Passive: Innate Stage Presence)
Aria's Combos
Aria primarily has two Basic Attack combo variations:
- > > > (4th) > (Hold)...
- (Hold) > 3 Levels of Charge > (Release) > (Hold)...
The first combo is when you have no Fandom Powers generated. These are stacks you can create on-screen whenever you:
- Finish Basic Attack: Sweet Melody combos
- Special Attack: Full-Sugar Electronica - No Ice
- Any attack ( EX Special Attack: Fall Into Delusion or EX Special Attack: Instantly Hooked)
- Any attack ( Chain Attack: Dream Collab or Ultimate: 100% Energy)
To collect the Fandom Powers, you need to begin charging Basic Attack: Perfect Pitch, which is the second combo shown.
Once Aria has at least 2 Fandom Powers, she can hold after Basic Attack: Perfect Pitch's third hit to spend them and attack. You can also spend Fandom Powers by holding after:
- The 4th hit of Basic Attack: Sweet Melody
- Special Attack: Full-Sugar Electronica - No Ice
- Any
- Quick Assist: Shatter Fantasy
- Chain Attack: Dream Collab
- Ultimate: 100% Energy
Whenever Aria gains Fandom Powers (via Basic Attack: Perfect Pitch), she can obtain an Ether Anomaly Buildup buff stackable up to 2 times. The buff is removed when she attacks again.
As Aria can continue to collect Fandom Powers when using the second combo (or variants), she can repeat the sequence until no more Fandom Powers are on the field. Begin the process again, starting with the first Basic Attack combo. Alternatively, you can swap to other Agents as needed.
Aria's Moment of Delusion
Aria's Ultimate, Ultimate: 100% Energy, allows Aria to enter the Moment of Delusion phase. Upon activation, she can also create an Ether Veil instance. Her Ether Veil: Delusion Reprise can provide additional ATK to all squad members for a short period. Additionally, if Additional Ability: Collaborative Stage is active, the Ether Veil also generates 4 Fandom Powers per section.
The other major effect of Ultimate: 100% Energy's Moment of Delusion is Aria's All-Out Cheering buff. This stackable buff can be used in various ways:
- When charging, All-Out Cheering is prioritized over Fandom Power
- All-Out Cheering can also charge twice per stack, doubling your charging speed
- Each remaining stack converts into 2 Fandom Powers at the start, middle, and end of Moment of Delusion
As you can only absorb up to 2 Fandom Powers each time, Aria must attack after charging up Basic Attack: Perfect Pitch. With 3 All-Out Cheering stacks to begin with, you can, at most, land three charged Basic Attack: Perfect Pitchs during the Moment of Delusion window.
Additionally, while Moment of Delusion is active, the 3rd hit of Basic Attack: Perfect Pitch is enhanced.
Triggering Abloom with Aria
And finally, if Aria is able to attack enemies affected by various Anomaly effects, she can trigger Abloom Attribute Anomaly DMG with the 3rd hit of Basic Attack: Perfect Pitch. There are a lot of beneficial effects that Aria's Fandom Powers and Basic Attack: Perfect Pitch can do, so it is important to learn how to use her combos well.
Aria's Best Mindscapes
As an Anomaly DPS, Aria's Mindscape Cinema is great overall. If you plan to obtain Construct's Dream, you will have a powerful Anomaly DPS for Version Updates to come.
If Aria's Anomaly Mastery stat is high, you should consider picking up Energetic Sound Waves. Her M1 can efficiently use 'excess' Anomaly Mastery to increase the CRIT Rate of Aria's Abloom from Core Passive: Innate Stage Presence. This is the most cost-effective option.
If you want more from Abloom, you can consider Fantastical Beat for some Ignore DEF bonuses when attacking. However, this should not be a priority if you do not have enough resources to build Aria's team, or obtain other Angels of Delusion Agents.
Mechanical Angel effectively boosts the Energy and Decibels Aria naturally obtains via Ablooms. Though this effect only happens every 10 seconds, Aria's combos will naturally cause her to trigger Abloom regularly. This is a good quality-of-life upgrade, but will not drastically change her general gameplay.
Last, but not least, Construct's Dream can make Aria's Moment of Delusion effect permanent upon using Ultimate: 100% Energy. Along with the huge Ether DMG bonus for her overall rotation, since she can generate infinite stacks of All-Out Cheering in theory, Aria can also convert excess stacks into more Fandom Powers on the field. This Mindscape Cinema is expensive, but well worth for any player who enjoys having Aria on their team.
