Nangong Yu's Best W-Engines

Listed below are Nangong Yu's best W-Engines. While W-Engines are listed in a priority order, what's best to build on your Nangong Yu can vary based on how much you plan to invest into Nangong.

Neon Fantasies

The equipper's Anomaly Proficiency increases by 90/103/117/130/145. When the equipper's EX Special Attack or Basic Attack deals Ether DMG, all squad members' DMG dealt increases by 15/17/19.5/21/24% for 40s, stacking up to 2 times. This effect can trigger once per use of a skill and repeated triggers reset the duration. With 2 stacks, the equipper's Anomaly Proficiency increases by an additional 60/69/78/87/96. Only one instance of this effect can exist in the same squad.

The Daze dealt by the equipper's EX Special Attack, Chain Attack, and Ultimate increases by 28/32.2/36.4/40.6/44.8%.
When using a Chain Attack or Ultimate to deal Fire DMG, the DMG dealt by all squad members increases by 10/11.5/13/14.5/16%, stacking up to 2 times and lasting 30s. The duration of each stack is calculated separately. Triggers once per use of a skill. Only one instance of this effect can exist in the same squad.

When using an EX Special Attack, the equipper's Impact is increased by 10/12.5/15/17.5/20% for 10s, stacking up to 2 times. The duration of each stack is calculated separately.

When an attack hits an enemy, DMG and Daze from Basic Attacks increase by 6/7.5/9/10.5/12% for 8s, stacking up to 5 times. This effect can trigger at most once during each skill. The duration of each stack is calculated separately.

When activating an Assist Follow-Up, the equipper's Daze inflicted on the target increases by 7.2/8.2/9.2/10.2/11.5%, and DMG dealt increases by 7.2/8.2/9.2/10.2/11.5% for 30s. Repeated triggers reset the duration.

Six Shooter

The equipper gains 1 Charge stack every 3s, stacking up to 6 times. When launching an EX Special Attack, consumes all Charge stacks and each stack consumed increases the skill's Daze inflicted by 4/4.6/5.2/5.8/6.4%.

For every 10 Energy accumulated, the equipper's Impact is increased by 2/2.3/2.6/2.9/3.2%, stacking up to 8 times. After Energy is consumed, this bonus remains for 8 more seconds. The duration of each stack is calculated separately.

Best Drive Discs for Nangong Yu

Phaethon's Melody

2-Piece Set: Anomaly Mastery +8%.
4-Piece Set: When any squad member uses an EX Special Attack, the equipper's Anomaly Proficiency increases by 45 for 8s. If the character using the EX Special Attack is not the equipper, the equipper's Ether DMG is increased by 25%.

Freedom Blues

2-Piece Set: Anomaly Proficiency +30
4-Piece Set: When an EX Special Attack hits an enemy, reduce the target's Anomaly Buildup RES to the equipper's Attribute by 20% for 8s. This effect does not stack with others of the same attribute.

Shockstar Disco

2-Piece Set: Impact +6%
4-Piece Set: Basic Attacks, Dash Attacks, and Dodge Counters inflict 20% more Daze to the main target.

Nangong Yu's Stat Priority

While Nangong Yu is a stunner and acts more like an Anomaly-adjacent unit, she generally wants to be built similarly to other Anomaly units, more so than around stats favoured by traditional stunners. This means you should build your Nangong Yu with Anomaly Proficiency and Anomaly Mastery for her Disc 4 and 6 respectively. With how Nangong Yu scales, building Impact % is simply worse than building more Anomaly.

Nangong Yu's Skill Priority

Nangong Yu generally wants heavy investment into all of her skills except dodge which can be a few levels lower but is still something you want to invest into. Nangong benefits from essentially every skill making her more expensive compared to many other characters.

How to Play Nangong Yu

Unique Resources

Nangong Yu has 2 main resources called Downbeat and Dance Prowess. Both can be seen below the HP bar with Downbeats being the bar and Dance Prowess being the 2 dots.

100 Downbeats can be held at any time while Nangong starts with 30 at the beginning of combat. These passively generate over time at a rate of 3.8/s and you also gain 12 per Anomaly infliction with a 6s cooldown. These are spent on additional charged basic attacks.

Dance Prowess on the other hand has a maximum of 2 stacks, which are both generated when an enemy is stunned. These are used during the stun window to trigger a Polarity Disorder and Quick Assist to the previous character. These are automatically consumed when Aria is in the party and Nangong Yu is present in their combo attack.

On top of the 2 resources seen below her HP, Nangong Yu also provides a debuff to enemies called Vibrato which can stack up to 4 times. These are built up during any Anomaly, Disorder or Abloom while the enemy is stunned. When at 4 stacks or if the stun ends, Vibrato stacks are cleared and Nangong deals a massive Abloom attack.

Basic Attacks Are Key!

Basic attacks are an important part of Nangong Yu's gameplay, with charged attacks providing increased Daze when triggered with the right timing, also called precise charging. Subsequent hits consume Downbeats at a cost of 50 downbeats per basic.

Additionally, if Nangong Yu has enough Downbeats after a Chain, Ultimate or EX Special holding Basic Attack will guarantee precise charging and also skip to the second and third hits.

This results in a basic combo of / > Charged .

Charged Basic Attack or EX Special also provide increased Anomaly Buildup Rate, Daze Increases and a team-wise DMG buff. These are all easy to maintain lasting for 30s.

Nangong Yu's Best Mindscapes

Nangong Yu has some incredibly powerful early mindscapes that may be worth looking into if you plan to invest more into your Nangong Yu. With her M1 Lazy Spotlight providing 18% RES decrease that’s always up and her M2 Painless Tears providing additional DMG as well as a further 30% increase to your Stun DMG multiplier.

That being said, due to Nangong being so restricted with W-Engines, we advise pulling for her weapon before additional copies.
