1.

Holy Paladin Overview

Holy Paladins specialize in very strong single-target healing, being one of the few healers that can truly impact whether a single player will live or die at any given moment. They also possess several tools that help them mitigate or avoid damage, both on themselves and on other raid embers, such as Blessing of Protection Icon Blessing of Protection and Devotion Aura Icon Devotion Aura. With so much utility, they are consistently one of the strongest specs in every form of content and have been that way for years.

Holy Paladin often falls behind other healers in terms of pure healing output, due to us offering more utility and damage reduction than other healers. Additionally, Holy Paladin lacks strong AoE healing abilities and cooldowns, but makes up for that with some of the strongest single-target healing in the game. They often serve a role of keeping priority players alive who may have dangerous debuffs, or are in more danger than others.

Patch 11.2.7 Changes to Holy Paladin

Unfortunately Patch 11.2.7 has no changes for Paladin or our specialization itself. However, there are regular updates to the Class and Spec happening on the Midnight Beta almost every week, and with the Midnight launch on the horizon, you may want to familiarize yourself with the upcoming changes to better prepare you for the pre-patch and upcoming expansion. You can view these changes and how they might impact you on our dedicated page for Midnight linked below:

Patch 11.2.5 Changes to Holy Paladin

With this patch there are no class changes, just the release of Turbo Boost and Legion Remix. This will provide you with the opportunity to upgrade your gear to higher item levels while also purchasing some items off a vendor. Legion Remix will allow you to unlock new transmogs and mounts from the Legion expansion! You can visit our dedicated pages for these below:

Patch 11.2 Changes

Holy Paladin has received some changes, but the most notable of which comes down to the Infusion of Light Icon Infusion of Light rework again. The changes will be:

  • Infusion of Light Icon Infusion of Light now reduces the cast time of Holy Light Icon Holy Light by 30% and has its healing increased.
  • Infusion of Light Icon Infusion of Light makes the next Flash of Light Icon Flash of Light cast instant and has its healing increased.

These changes make Holy Light Icon Holy Light a much stronger choice for consuming Infusion of Light Icon Infusion of Light, but due to the heavy mana cost of it, you will often stick to using Flash of Light Icon Flash of Light or Judgment Icon Judgment which remains unchanged.

The new tier set bonuses in Patch 11.2 revolve around each specs respective hero talents. The Herald of the Sun tier set bonuses will focus on amplifying the effects from Sun's Avatar Icon Sun's Avatar and Dawnlight Icon Dawnlight whereas the Lightsmith set will focus on Hammer and Anvil Icon Hammer and Anvil. Herald of the Sun players won't see much rotational change but Lightsmith ones will have Crusader Strike Icon Crusader Strike move up in the priority list once the full tier set is acquired.

Additionally, Reshii Wraps Icon Reshii Wraps was added in Patch 11.2 and will be BiS for every class. That being said, it will not alter your gameplay in anyway.

Leveling a Holy Paladin

If you want to play a Holy Paladin but currently do not have one at max level, you can check out our leveling guide for tips on your journey.

Once you reach the max level, it can be somewhat overwhelming to completely change the way you play by suddenly implementing a large number of addons in a short space of time, especially if they have a heavy visual impact on your UI. We recommend using some of the more basic addons recommended on our Addons page below while leveling so that you have more time to get used to them during the easier phases of playing your class.

Having a not only comfortable but solid UI is incredibly important, especially once you hit max level. To prevent yourself from being overwhelmed by all the choices, we recommend starting with some basic addons while you are going through the leveling process. This will help you get accustomed to the different addons while the class is still in a relatively easier phase.

Basics of Holy Paladin Gameplay

Holy Paladin, like any healer, is all about using your abilities strategically. Rather than a fixed rotation, you will be using your flexible spell kit to adapt and overcome whatever the game throws at you.

In order to be a successful Holy Paladin, you must make use of your cooldown abilities as efficiently as possible.

If you are an absolute beginner to the spec but would like to learn the fundamentals of the class, I recommend looking through the Spell Summary first, as well as the Easy Mode page linked below.

If you are familiar with Paladin and how it plays, you can jump right into our Talent and Rotation pages.

How to Gear Up a Holy Paladin

If you are interested in finding out what gear will put your Holy Paladin in the best possible position to perform well, I would recommend looking at our gear page. Here, you can find information on the best items available for Holy Paladin.

To be successful, you will want to make sure you have the correct consumables, gems, enchants, and more. On top of this, you will want to check our stats page to help you make the correct decision when choosing what consumables to use.
