Welcome to our Addons & Macros guide for Warriors where you will find out what the best addons and macros are for your Warrior in WoW Classic.

1.

Foreword

While this is not an exhaustive list of all possible / useful macros, we will be exemplifying almost all macro functionalities below. Use these templates as an example and replace their spells with the ones you feel will be most useful to you, personally.

2.

Classic Warrior Macro Templates

2.1.

StartAttack Macro

  • #showtooltip Rend
  • /cast Rend
  • /startattack

Using attack skills such as Rend Icon Rend does not start your auto attacks in WoW Classic, and as such, you should aim to use a macro such as the one above to easily engage enemies. If you want to use it with other skills, just copy the code and replace Rend with the skill you wish to attack with.

2.2.

Button Reduction Macro

  • #showtooltip Charge
  • /cast Charge
  • /cast Rend
  • /startattack

This macro is similar to the first one, but it tries to cast two spells instead of one. The logic here is that Charge Icon Charge is not usable during combat or when in proximity of the target, while Rend Icon Rend works in mostly the opposite way. Thus, even though you can only cast one spell with a macro at a time, this combination will Charge if you are outside of combat and far enough away from the target, and Rend otherwise, making for a great double press opener on early enemies.

2.3.

Stance Dance Macro

  • #showtooltip Shield Wall
  • /startattack
  • /cast Defensive Stance
  • /cast Shield Wall

Many Warrior skills in WoW Classic are stance-bound and, thus, require you to be in the correct stance to be used. By creating this sort of macro for those spells, you can ensure you are in the correct stance to use them.

2.4.

Stance Dance plus Weapon Swap Macro

  • #showtooltip Shield Wall
  • /startattack
  • /equip Carpenter's Mallet
  • /equip Worn Large Shield
  • /cast Defensive Stance
  • /cast Shield Wall

You might have noticed that the previous macro had a rather large flaw: Shield Wall Icon Shield Wall requires a shield to be equipped in order to be used. But, in many of the situations where you want to quickly swap to Defensive Stance Icon Defensive Stance and activate it, you are not already wearing a shield. Thus, you should include "/equip" lines on your macro to ensure you always equip the right tools for the skill or stance you want to cast.

2.5.

Mouseover Macro

  • #showtooltip Taunt
  • /cast [@mouseover,harm,nodead] Taunt; Taunt

This macro allows you to Taunt Icon Taunt your mouseover target, or your current target if the mouseover target is not valid.

2.6.

Crowd Control into Bandage Macro

  • #showtooltip Intimidating Shout
  • /cast Intimidating Shout
  • /cast Heavy Runecloth Bandage

The logic behind this macro is that the first press will use a skill that disables opponents, while the second press (due to the first skill being on cooldown) will immediately start a bandage for self-healing.

2.7.

Rare Targeting and Tagging Macro

  • /target Silithid Harvester
  • /cast Hamstring
  • /startattack

When there are a lot of players waiting for a spawn, this macro will help you try and get the tag as quickly as possible. Remember to use Bloodrage Icon Bloodrage as close to the respawn as possible, in order to have Rage for Hamstring Icon Hamstring, otherwise you will probably lose the tag war to Earth Shock Icon Earth Shock and similar spells.

2.8.

Death Macro

  • /click HelpFrameCharacterStuckStuck
  • /run RepopMe()

Sometimes, dying can be the fastest way to reach your next destination, as it will teleport you to the nearest graveyard. This macro allows you to kill yourself on demand, which will come in handy, especially if you are following a detailed leveling guide, where dying is often the next step in your path, especially at low levels where graveyard resurrection penalties are minor.

3.

Classic Warriors Addons / Auras

While a clean UI is important for Warriors in WoW Classic, you also want to have as much useful information as you can so that you can perform well as a tank or a DPS. Addons and auras will help you customize your gameplay experience by replacing the default UI's information with the information you deem important.

They can also automate many of WoW Classic's repetitive tasks:

  • Repairing your gear;
  • Selling gray items;
  • Accepting and turning in quests.

In the following sections, we will be listing various addons that do this and more for you, so that you can focus on actually playing the enjoyable parts of the game as much as possible!

This spreadsheet is an exhaustive list of WoW Classic addons. If you are looking for something that we did not list below, feel free to check it out.

3.1.

Most Important Addons for Classic Warriors

The addons in this list are the ones that impact your gameplay experience the most. They have very important features which will make your life much easier and, as such, are highly recommended to install.

3.1.1.

Complete UI replacement: ElvUI Classic

ElvUI Classic, just like its retail counterpart, allows you to replace most elements of the default UI with a customizable, modern set of action bars, unit frames and most other conveniences you can think of. By using ElvUI you can avoid using a lot of other, narrower, addons.

Alternatively, TukUI lacks some of ElvUI's functionalities but is even cleaner, if you prefer a minimalistic UI.

3.1.2.

Menial Task Automation: Leatrix Plus

Annoyed by the slow scrolling quest text? Wiping in dungeons due to having red gear because of forgetting to repair? Getting carpal tunnel due to all the spam clicking to sell your gray items? Want to know what the items on your inventory will sell for at the vendor?

Leatrix Plus Classic automates these tasks for you and more, such as automatically accepting summons or releasing. All configurable in case you do not want certain things to be automated.

3.1.3.

WeakAuras 2 for Classic Warriors

Weak Auras 2 allows you to configure all types of warnings for yourself with a simple user interface.

Due to its large user base, there is a huge library of auras already created for you to import at the Wago classic Warrior section, make sure to check it out before starting your adventure!

There are also several general weak auras available, such as:

  • Max Camera automatically sets the maximum amount you can zoom out with your camera higher than the UI normally allows, which would require you to type a / command every time you logged in, otherwise;
  • Combat Time shows a timer when you are in combat, useful to instantly know when you are in / out of combat.
3.1.4.

Details Damage Meter

You can get the latest version of Details here, so you can track your damage and that of party members, as well are other useful functionalities such as death logs, damage taken logs and healing done.

3.1.5.

Questie Classic

Questie Classic marks level-appropriate quests you can pick up and quest objectives you can turn in on your world map and minimap. Use it for efficiency, or don't use it for the real Vanilla Experience!

3.1.6.

MapCoords Classic

MapCoords Classic places coordinates on your world map and minimap, which allow you to communicate, and understand, exact locations on WoW Classic easily when reading guides such as ours. It can also help you locate Mankrik's Wife, we promise.

3.1.7.

Guidelime

Guidelime will allow you to download and follow a predefined optimized questing path, complete with an arrow pointing towards your next location and World Map notes on what your next steps are and their location.

There are many guides available to download at Guidelime's Guidelist. We are currently using Sage's guide for Alliance leveling and Sevenleaves for Horde leveling.

Finally, if you will be dungeon grinding for an extended period, we would recommend Hakurai's dungeon leveling guide!

3.2.

Raiding Addons for Classic Warriors

While the previous addons dealt with general UI, which is your main priority, when you start raiding you will want to have a few more tricks up your sleeve to make your life easier.

3.2.1.

Boss Mods: Deadly Boss Mods

Boss mods are addons that warn you about boss abilities and give you live advice on how to handle some mechanics. Deadly Boss Mods has already released a WoW Classic version, so make sure to help on its testing!

Optionally, DBM Voicepack VEM can be used alongside DBM to audibly warn you of upcoming mechanics.

3.2.2.

Threat Meter

A threat meter is indispensable for raiding in WoW Classic, as you should always aim to deal as much DPS as possible without ever pulling threat from the tanks. ClassicThreatMeter will show you how many threat each of the people in your party has, as long as they also have it installed.

3.2.3.

RC Loot Council

RC Loot Council allows you to distribute master loot more efficiently and quickly than doing it with the default UI.

3.3.

Addons for Warriors in WoW Classic Player vs Player (PvP)

While this section is starting small, Player vs Player is a huge part of what makes WoW Classic great, and there are many addons being made / retrofitted for the upcoming battlegrounds and dueling / class specific gameplay. For now, enjoy World PvP without any stakes!

3.3.1.

Spy Classic

Spy Classic scans for nearby enemy faction players and announces their presence / lists them and their class / level in your UI. This is very useful in order to be aware of potential world PvP activity going around you and to avoid being caught off guard!

3.4.

Miscellaneous Addons

While these addons are not quite as impactful as the ones listed previously, they can still be helpful to certain people, especially for those who dislike the setup we presented beforehand.

3.4.1.

TomTom

TomTom is a navigation addon which allows you to set waypoints on your map with /way CoordX CoordY (replace with the numbers of the coordinates you want to go to). An arrow will then point towards that waypoint, making it easy to reach a set of coordinates, such as the ones we use on the Warrior leveling page.

3.4.2.

Auctionator Classic

Auctionator Classic makes it easier to search and post on the Auction House. It also lists the price per item on stacks of items being sold. While it has much simpler functionality than something like TSM Classic, it is also much simpler to use for most users.

3.4.3.

Unit Frames

If you dislike ElvUI / TukUI Unit Frames, try Luna Unit Frames or Dominos, which are great alternatives!

3.4.4.

Classic Aura Durations

By installing Classic Aura Durations, the buffs/debuffs on the default UI gain a duration indicator. This includes raid frame debuffs, which are very handy when raid-wide decursing is needed.

3.4.5.

Classic Castbars

Classic Castbars adds information on what spell is being cast, along with a rough estimation of its cast time, to the default target frames and nameplates. This makes it much easier to land a timely Shield Bash Icon Shield Bash or Pummel Icon Pummel!

3.4.6.

Atlas Loot Classic

By installing Atlas Loot Classic, you become able to browse loot from various sources (PvP, Raids, Dungeons, Crafting, etc.) inside the game, without the need to visit third party websites.

3.4.7.

Advanced Interface Options Classic

This addon allows you to change a lot of UI options that are normally hidden, such as Floating Combat Text customization options, mouse wheel chat scrolling, the displaying of Lua errors, among other options.

3.4.8.

Twitch Emotes

Twitch Emotes is all about having some modern day fun with many of the emotes we are used to from Twitch. This is not for everyone, but if memes are part of your experience, this is a good addon for you.

3.4.9.

Azeroth Auto Pilot - Classic

Azeroth Auto Pilot - Classic is an alternative to Guidelime, which will point you in a predefined questing path. Guidelime has a lot more guide options, however.
