Retribution Paladin DPS Amirdrassil Raid Guide — Season 4
On this page, you will find tips, tricks, and strategies tailored to your Retribution Paladin for each boss of the following raid: Amirdrassil. All our content is updated for World of Warcraft — Season 4.
Introduction
Below, you can find class and spec-specific advice for every fight in Amirdrassil. If you are looking for a general overview of the Raid that is not spec-specific, check out our dedicated Amirdrassil, the Dream's Hope guides.
This page contains talent builds and information specific to Retribution Paladin. The information here assumes that you have a general understanding of how the basic mechanics in the raid work, so if you are not fully clear about any mechanical aspects, see the guide above.
Here, you can find information about the best talents to use for each encounter in Amirdrassil, as well as information on how to best deal with the various mechanics on each boss. The information here is focused on helping your progression, which is not always the same thing as doing the highest damage for the encounter. Strategies that aim to do more damage at the cost of making the encounter more difficult to kill are outside of the scope of this page.
Retribution Paladin Talents for Amirdrassil, the Dream's Hope
Retribution uses largely the same single-target build for most of the raid, with only occasional talent changes. This is the build you should use for most bosses, and that will serve as a foundation for all encounters:
Gnarlroot
Talents
Use the single-target build linked above.
This encounter does have some adds, but they will die passively to cleave without you needing to lose a large amount of single-target by running AoE talents.
Tips
- Place Controlled Burn on dormant Lashers.
- Soak Splintering Charcoal and then drop this debuff off on the Doom Roots during the intermission.
- After the intermission, Gnarlroot will take 100% more damage for 20 seconds. Make sure you have cooldowns available to use here.
For more information, please refer to our Gnarlroot guide.
Igira the Cruel
Talents
Use the single-target build linked above.
Tips
- Soak the assigned weapon during the intermission. Use Shield of Vengeance and Divine Protection as needed for this.
- You should not need to AoE the spears that spawn, but you can often save Wake of Ashes for a few seconds to do a bit of extra AoE damage for free.
For more information, please refer to our Igira guide.
Volcoross
Talents
Use the single-target build linked above.
Tips
- Soak Flood of the Firelands. Use Shield of Vengeance and Divine Protection as needed.
- Dodge Scorchtail Crash. These appear as large shadows on the ground.
For more information, please refer to our Volcoross guide.
Larodar, Keeper of the Flame
Talents
Use the single-target build linked above.
This encounter does have some adds, but they will die passively to cleave without you needing to lose a large amount of single-target by running AoE talents.
Tips
- Make sure to stand in the Renewed Bramble Barrier during Raging Inferno. Use Shield of Vengeance or Divine Protection to help survive this.
- Soak Falling Embers during Phase 2.
For more information, please refer to our Larodar guide.
Council of Dreams
Talents
Although this is a multitarget encounter, for most of the encounter, you are only able to hit 1-2 targets. You are best off using a single-target oriented build with small cleave adjustments:
- Auto-Attack: BYEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAQAAiWp0KJtSjolDkkSSAAAAAAARQSCBSQkSESCpkSCRCCJiShGAA
- Zero Downtime: BYEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAQAAiWp0KJtSjolDkkSSAAAAAAARQSCBSQkSESCpkSCRCCJiSjGAA
Tips
- Soak Barreling Charge as assigned.
- When polymorphed into a duck, run over Noxious Blossom to remove them. Make sure that other players are not within range of you when the polymorph effect ends so that it will not spread.
- Run over Noxious Blossom when Song of the Dragon is cast to remove it.
For more information, please refer to our Council of Dreams guide.
Nymue, Weaver of the Cycle
Talents
Use the single-target build linked above.
Tips
- Verdant Matrix creates lines on the ground that will apply a DoT effect to you when crossed. Make sure to not cross them too many times in a short period.
- Swap to Cycle Wardens when they spawn. The boss will be immune to damage during this phase.
- Surging Growth will spawn on the ground as green circles that will do pulsing AoE damage to the whole raid. These can be removed by standing in them.
For more information, please refer to our Nymue guide.
Smolderon
Talents
Use the single-target build linked above.
Tips
- Stand away from other players when affected by Overheated.
- Soak Brand of Damnation if you do not have Overheated.
- During the intermission, soak Living Flame to increase your damage and prevent the boss from gaining damage. You should make sure you have cooldowns for the intermission.
For more information, please refer to our Smolderon guide.
Tindral Sageswift, Seer of the Flame
Talents
Although there are periods where AoE is valuable, you will lose too much single-target damage by running a full AoE build. A single-target oriented build with a few AoE talents is the best overall choice:
- Auto-Attack: BYEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAQAAiWp0KJtSjoFJpkEAAAAAAQEkkQgEEpEhkQKpkoFJIkIKFaAA
- Zero Downtime: BYEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAQAAiWp0KJtSjoFJpkEAAAAAAQEkkQgEEpEhkQKploFJiQiogGAA
Tips
- You can use Blessing of Freedom to remove Mass Entanglement or to prevent its application on Normal and Heroic.
- You will need to use your Dragonriding mount to move between platforms as the boss phases. Pick Dream Essence up as you do for a damage buff.
- Use cooldowns when you land to burn through Supernova.
For more information, please refer to our Tindral guide.
Fyrakk the Blazing
Talents
Use the single-target build linked above.
Tips
- Use Divine Steed to drop Firestorm at the back of the room if you are targeted by it.
- Soak Shadowflame Orbs during the first intermission phase.
For more information, please refer to our Fyrakk guide.
