Echoing Strike Hex Purge Warlock Build for Diablo 2 Resurrected

Last updated Today at 10:00 by MrLlamaSC

The Echoing Strike Hex Purge Warlock is a ranged magic fighter. With the ability to create astral projections of his current weapon he can throw up to five instances of his weapon at once to proc Hex: Purge on all of the monsters, causing eruptions that will clear everything in front of him.

1.

Introduction

The Echoing Strike Warlock throws projections of his weapons in front of himself, dealing damage both on the way out and the way in. This version of the build focuses on maxing out Hex: Purge and its synergies for high clear speed.

Warlock Echoing Strike Skill Build

The following section shows the core skills for the Echoing Strike Hex Purge Warlock. For a detailed breakdown of all core and optional skills as well as the recommended order for allocating skill points, refer to the Skills page of this guide.

  1. 20 points to Hex: Purge – Adds an AoE Hex. Since we are already hitting a lot of monsters at once, this hex will help blow up mobs even faster.
  2. 20 points to Hex: Bane – Synergy for Hex: Purge and great for single target farming bosses.
  3. 20 points to Eldritch Blast – Synergy for Hex: Purge and some added damage and leech.
  4. 20 points to Mirrored Blades – A Synergy for Echoing Strike + good for Single Target fights as it swings a bunch of times at once at one monster.
  5. X points to Echoing Strike – Remaining Skills go here for increased Attack Rating and Damage.
  6. 1 point to Levitation Mastery – Increases Damage, Attack Rating, Critical Strike, and lowers Weapon Requirements.
  7. 1 point to Summon Defiler – Grab a demon with Curse and Fanaticism for massive damage boosts.
  8. 1 point to Consume – Useful for Consuming a Defiler.

Hex: Purge is massive damage and the focus of this build, so it takes priority over all the other skills.

While not the fastest leveling build of the Warlock (Fire or Magic Warlock will be best there), this is still one of the better builds and should be decently safe thanks to it being a Ranged Attack. Focus on improving your weapon as a first priority and remember you can use 2-handed weapons with a book.

Warlock Gear

The following section shows some potentially strong items for the Echoing Strike Hex Purge Warlock. With Levitation Mastery many Weapons that had too high of Requirements to use are now viable.

Please be aware that Echoing Strike uses Faster Cast Rate and not Increased Attack Speed! This means you will want to focus on gear like Arachnid Mesh instead of Goldwrap to speed up your attacks.

Echoing Strike does not work with:

  • On Strike
  • On Attack
  • Crushing Blow
  • Open Wounds
  • Knockback
  • Added damage from Grief
  • Monster Flee/Blind

Echoing Strike does work with:

  • Deadly Strike
  • Critical Strike
  • Prevent Monster Heal
  • Life/Mana Leech

Echoing Strike Warlock Breakpoints

In Diablo 2, stats that affect action speed (known as frames) for attacking, casting, blocking, and recovering from a hit can almost never be taken literally. For example, gaining 10% Increased Attack Speed from an item will not necessarily translate into 10% faster attacks. To achieve faster actions, certain breakpoints must be reached, which vary for every class. The tables below list how much of a given stat is required to actually improve the action speed of the class for the stated action.

6.1.

Faster Hit Recovery Breakpoints

Hit Recovery Breakpoints
Frames to perform action 13 12 11 10 9 8 7 6 5
Faster Hit Recovery required to reach frame 0% 5% 10% 16% 26% 39% 56% 86% 152%

Echoing Strike Warlock Mercenary

You can either hire a Defensive (Holy Freeze) or Offensive (Might) Desert Guard Mercenary in Act 2, Nightmare difficulty, depending on whether you want to slow monsters for added safety or improve the overall damage of your Mercenary.
