Saviors of Uldum Card Reveal: Shadow of Death

A new Rogue spell, pictured above, has been revealed by Russian streamer, YouTuber and Hearthstone Grandmaster Silvername: Shadow of Death!

It's a classic tricky Rogue card, and it's not immediately clear where it might fit in. Its effect is reminiscent of Fal'dorei Strider, but without the 4/4 Minion up front it's not nearly as good as a tempo option.

One potential plan is to use the card in fatigue to get your three Shadows immediately and pull off a killer combo. We haven't thought of one just yet though. (The thought of playing it on Desert Obelisk isn't filling us with hope.)

Watch the full Russian reveal video below:

Saviors of Uldum releases worldwide on August 6th. Check out our expansion hub for more info on the Reborn mechanic, the return of the League of Explorers, and every card revealed so far.

Do you draw another card after the effect goes off similar to other cards?

If so this could be an easy lethal with Leeroy Jenkins as the poster above says, except that you'd use myra's first after getting leeroy and this in hand.    6 damage that turn, then 18 more the next should be a pretty successful finisher.

Yes, as illustrated in the video.

Indeed you can't play Myra's Unstable Element if there are too many cards in your deck besides the Leeroys, otherwise there's a risk that your hand gets full before you reach them and they get discarded instead of played - if I understand the mechanism right.

The combo looks appealing, however you are also announcing to your opponent that you have lethal next turn. This kills the surprise effect of the traditional OTK. If the opponent knows what is coming next turn, they may be able to anticipate it. And if you no longer have lethal, then you better have some sort of Academic Espionage in your sleeve, because now your deck is empty and fatigue is going to kill you.

It's far from a easy lethal since Myra discards after the 10th card you can easy discard all the Leeroys...

if you want Leeroy just use Waggle Pick that is free 4+4+6 damage on top of the first 6 of Leeroy making 20 dmg with a single Leeroy needed in hand.

This card does absoultely nothing and is unplayable since the cost is ridicolous for an effect so weak and completely RNG.

Copying a big minion is only possible if the enemy dropped such minion since with your own card you can copy at best a 6 cost minion and it can't even be a battlecry minion since it's useless if summoned by a spell.

It's just a much worse Academic Espionage that at least with 10 cards added the chance to draw one is decent and BC minions aren't garbage if you get them...

Best way to use this card... copy a King Krush dropped by the enemy... downside if you see a King Krush you gonna see a defeat screen very soon. Pogo-Hopper tier card once again for the rogue while warrior has reached 4 new top tier cards out of 9 reveals.

They shoulda start make cards with text Battlecry: if the enemy hero is Dr. Boom, Mad Genius deal 150 damage to the enemy hero or the meta will be the same since still there aren't any groundbreaking card in the reveals and almost all cards are revealed.

The poor Lord Jaraxxus has a card to one hit him so why don't use the same concept when it's most needed?

Sure but having one turn to deal with a coming 18 damage (in the form of charging leeroys who are not yet on the board to deal with) is a tough nut to crack.   Moreover the rogue can easily have the capability to follow up with bounces, more damage, etc from other cards they've drawn with Myra's.     The deck and card (Myra, Leeroy in the same deck too for that matter) are already in use, this just adds a huge kill potential combo to add to it.

Or not: Explosive Trap. There are also a variety of secrets which will mitigate the Leeroys possibly enough to avoid the lethal: Freezing Trap, MisdirectionSnipe for Hunter; Ice Barrier and Vaporize for Mage; Noble Sacrifice for Paladin. Any Taunt minion will also do, even small ones like the tokens from Mirror Image.

Don't get me wrong, the option exists, players will do it, and it will be fun. But I suspect you are a bit too optimistic about the outcome.

its not game breaking or meta defining. its just an option you can have with in existing tempo rogue. combo is not a sure thing but you usually use myra to seal out the game. having a bunch of leroys in draw pull will certainly help that.
