WotLK Classic Demonology Warlock Gear and Best in Slot
On this page, you will find the best PvE gear and best in slot items for your Demonology Warlock in WotLK Classic.
Demonology Warlock Phase 2 Best in Slot Gear
In this guide we go over the different gear available for Warlocks in Phase 2 of Wrath of the Lich King Classic. First off, there are a ton of options for gearing in this phase. We have 10-man and 25-man loot with options at normal or Hardmodes loot. That being said, I know some of this gear will be hard to obtain for most of us, so we will briefly show some alternatives to use until you get your absolute Best in Slot. We will offer multiple different pieces as some can be expensive or very rare to obtain. Some slots also have multiple "best" items that can change depending on your other gear choices.
Tier 8 Set Bonuses
Recently Blizzard buffed the item level of the gear inside of Ulduar, but they did not touch the tier, so all of the tier pieces will just overall be not as good as the non-tier pieces. As for the 2-set, this increases the damage of your Immolate by an additional 10%. Making one of our main damage over time abilitie hit even harder. For this reason, you will be looking to wear at least 2 of these pieces. Which two pieces will depend entirely upon which you have received from raid, but of course the 2 best options are generally the robe and the pants. If you want to play a more support Demo role, then you would not use the 2 piece and would instead use two more powerfully stat'd off pieces.
As for the 4-set, this increases the damage of our Shadow Bolt by 5%. This sounds
better than it is when you think about how often we really are casting
Shadow Bolt.
Outside of keeping our three DoT's up, we also have an execute phase where we are rarely
casting any
Shadow Bolts. On top of all of that, Demonology Warlocks are in the raid
for
Demonic Pact, so we want the off pieces for more spirit and spell power to make
the
Demonic Pact buff larger. For this reason, it is not suggested for Demonology
Warlocks to use the 4-set.
Gearing as Support Demonology vs Personal DPS Demonology
There are generally two types of Demonology Warlocks. You have the
ones who are purely there for support, whose job is to 100% do everything they can
to supply the largest Demonic Pact buff that they possibly can for their
Raid, even at the loss of some of their own personal DPS. For the second type,
you have the players who are not there to buff the raid and are there to just
deal as much damage as they possibly can as Demonology, since Demonology is such a
strong specialization, whether there are multiple Demonology Warlocks in
the raid and they can just blast, or the guild does not mind them taking more of a DPS role
and losing out on some Spell Power from
Demonic Pact. Demonology has a real choice
to make. This is talked a lot about in the Warlock community and which one
you choose is completely up to you and more importantly, up to your Raid Leader.
The bigger difference between support and Personal Demonology is the gearing, or more importantly, the stats. Without getting too deep into it, the most common difference objectively is that as a personal DPS Demo, you would choose Haste and would gear more like an Affliction Warlock would for the most part, whereas a full support Demo chooses the pieces of gear that give up that haste for a healthy amount of Spell Power and Spirit and to a degree even Hit rating. Any items marked 'Best Support' are specifically if you are looking for more support.
Best in Slot Gear List
Below you can find a list of recommended pieces for each slot. The best in slot items will be marked as Best.

Crown of Luminescence is the strongest helmet to in Ulduar. For that reason,
this item is highly contested. Not only that, but it also comes only from Hardmode on
one of the more difficult bosses in Ulduar, Mimiron.
Cowl of Dark Whispers,
Collar of the Wyrmhunter, and
Conqueror's Deathbringer Hood are all excellent
alternatives to wear until you are able to obtain the coveted
Crown of Luminescence.
Collar of the Wyrmhunter is a great helm if you need any hit rating, meanwhile both
Cowl of Dark Whispers and
Conqueror's Deathbringer Hood are great helmets if you
do not need any hit rating.

Pendant of Fiery Havoc and
Sapphire Amulet of Renewal are the best options for
necks in this phase.
Pendant of Fiery Havoc is the best option if you need some hit
rating, while
Sapphire Amulet of Renewal is amazing if you do not need any,
while also bringing in a healthy amount of spirit for you Support Demo's out there. Both of
these necks come from Hardmode bosses that might take some time to defeat, so both
Watchful Eye of Fate and
Pendant of the Shallow Grave are great alternatives that
will be much easier to obtain and use until you are able to get one of the Hardmode necks.

Amice of Inconceivable Horror is the best option for shoulders out of this phase. Luckily
this will be easier to obtain, as it comes from 10-man, so you should have no issues obtaining
them.

Algalon the Observer — (10) Ulduar |
Cloaks are pretty easy to obtain in Ulduar. So long as your guild can kill Algalon the Observer,
as he drops three of your best in slot cloaks from this phase. Sunglimmer Cloak is the best
out of the option all around and is the reward from the Reply Code Alpha Quest which drops from
Algalon the Observer, a lot like how
Wyrmrest Necklace of Power worked with Malygos
in Phase 1.

As mentioned at the start of this page, if you want to wear two of your Tier 8 pieces so you
can take advantage of the 2-set bonus, then his is mathematically one of the two best slots to
achieve this. So for 2-set, you want Conqueror's Deathbringer Robe. If you want the support
piece, then choose
Raiments of the Iron Council.

Grasps of Reason are the best options for bracers in this phase.
Bracers of Unleashed Magic
is another set of bracers that drops in Ulduar that you can use until you get
Grasps of Reason.
Unsullied Cuffs are from Phase 1, but still extremely strong and better
than the new bracer options.

Both Pharos Gloves and
Pulsar Gloves are the best options for gloves in this phase
and both of these also drop from Algalon. Which one you choose should be based around your hit
rating.
Pulsar Gloves are amazing if you need any hit rating and
Pharos Gloves are
amazing if you do not need any, as these have a big chunk of spirit. For pure
support builds, we suggest
Pharos Gloves.

Bind on Equip — Tailoring |
There are many options for belts this phase. However only these two are worth mentioning.
Starwatcher's Binding is a very strong neck and the best of the two, but will be
harder to obtain as it comes from 25-man Algalon the Observer.
Sash of Ancient Power
is a great alternative that is Bind on Equip, meaning you can purchase one from the auction
house if you are sitting on some extra gold.
Sash of Ancient Power is also a very good
choice if you need some hit rating as well.

As mentioned at the start of this page, if you want to wear two of your Tier 8 pieces so you
can take advantage of the 2-set bonus, then his is mathematically one of the two best slots to
achieve this, so for 2-set, you want Conqueror's Deathbringer Leggings; meanwhile
Leggings of Profound Darkness are the best options for pure support as it brings some more
spell power and spirit than the Tier 8 legs.
Leggings of the Enslaved Idol are another amazing
pair of pants that are great for pure support since the extra socket, but also great for pure DPS
Demo as well.

Boots of Fiery Resolution are the best options in this phase. These drop from
a Hardmode boss, granted not one of the most difficult ones.
Treads of the False Oracle
are a great alternative, but also drop from Hardmode and a harder boss. This leaves
Starlight Treads as another great option that comes from 10-man Algalon the Observer
that you can use until you get the big
Boots of Fiery Resolution.

There are a handful of options for rings. Shimmering Seal and
Conductive Seal
are the best options as they supply the most stats on the rings, while supplying a nice amount
of spirit for your
Demonic Pact.
Nebula Band is a great option to use while waiting
for either of your main rings or if you are more pure DPS. Lastly,
Frozen Loop
is an excellent ring if you are looking for some hit rating.

There are a ton of options for trinkets for Demonology in Phase 2, but the following are the
main ones and what you wear depends on your role. Flare of the Heavens is the best one
out of all the options, no matter what your role is. Nothing comes close to this in terms
of spell power. As for you second trinket, if you are looking to support via
Demonic Pact
then
Dying Curse is your best second option. This still has the most spell power you can
gain outside of
Flare of the Heavens. If you want more of a DPS role then you will want
Scale of Fates to go with your Flare.
Living Flame is a good alternative option
for those not able to obtain a
Dying Curse or patiently waiting for your
Flare of the Heavens.

There are many many options for weapons that drop inside of Ulduar
ranging from outstanding to not so great. The following three are the main ones you will want
to target. Starshard Edge is the best choice for weapons as its the strongest
of the new weapons.
Fusion Blade is next in line and another great option for
weapons. As for the staff,
Staff of Endless Winter is not only a great staff,
but comes with an extra socket and more spirit than anything in the game can bring you. This is a great
option to wear while waiting for one of the two big main hand weapons we talked about.

You have a few really strong options for offhands. Cosmos is the best

Ironmender is the
best if you are looking for more support with
Demonic Pact.

You have got two great options for wands in Ulduar. Petrified Ivy Sprig
is the best though, and you should aim to get this as soon as possible. It should not be
too hard to get as it drops from a rather simple 10-man boss.
Scepter of Lost Souls
is a great alternative if you are having troubles obtaining
Petrified Ivy Sprig.
