On this page, you will find out the best PvE talents for your Ranged DPS Survival Hunter in WoW Classic — Season of Discovery, as well as advised runes.

1.

Survival Hunter DPS Talent Build

These are going to be the optimal talent points to take at level 60 in Season of Discovery, assuming that you are wanting to play Survival. Survival will be noticeably stronger at level 60, particularly due to the power of combining trap, melee, and ranged weaving all into one playstyle. This talent build focuses on the two strengths of Survival: Lightning Reflexes Icon Lightning Reflexes to scale Agility stacking, and the significant buffs to traps. With the Trap Mastery Rune, Hunters can trap in combat at level 50, which is a significant advantage for Survival as a spec. Finally, with the remaining points after taking Lightning Reflexes Icon Lightning Reflexes, you are going to want to jump into the MM tree and grab Aimed Shot Icon Aimed Shot and Mortal Shots Icon Mortal Shots. Keep in mind that since we play with Lone Wolf Icon Lone Wolf, pet talents are completely useless.

  • Pants — Sniper Training Icon Sniper Training
  • Gloves — Chimera Shot Icon Chimera Shot
  • Chest — Lone Wolf Icon Lone Wolf
  • Belt — Expose Weakness IconExpose Weakness
  • Boots — Wyvern Strike Icon Wyvern Strike
  • Helm — Lock and Load Icon Lock and Load
  • Wrists — T.N.T. Icon T.N.T.
  • Cloak — Resourcefulness Icon Resourcefulness
  • Ring 1 — Ranged Weapon Specialization Icon Ranged Weapon Specialization
  • Ring 2 — Pole Weapon Specialization Icon Pole Weapon Specialization

For the gloves rune, while Explosive Shot Icon Explosive Shot was incredibly strong in the first few days during leveling, it was subsequently reworked and is now very weak for single target damage. It is an AOE spell that is only useful on extremely high target situations, which is not common even in the raid. Chimera Shot Icon Chimera Shot is the strongest choice overall and will be incredibly important for single target damage.

For pants, after the recent buffs Sniper Training Icon Sniper Training is too powerful to pass up for the massive increase to your crit. The other options don't compare when you account for your own damage.

For chest rune, Lone Wolf Icon Lone Wolf is the only choice after some absolutely massive buffs. Losing your pet is well worth the damage increase.

For belt, Expose Weakness IconExpose Weakness is going to be the obvious choice for the huge passive damage bonus it will provide.

Finally, for boots, you'll either use Trap Launcher Icon Trap Launcher for encounters where you need the extra Trap throw range, or more likely you will use Wyvern Strike Icon Wyvern Strike. When melee-weaving, this is an incredibly powerful attack to weave with.

At level 50, your two new runes will be Lock and Load Icon Lock and Load and T.N.T. Icon T.N.T.. There are not many options to choose from, and while these aren't particularly stellar, the other options are designed specifically for melee. These will be your go-to runes in all situations.

At level 60, you have access to the back and ring rune slots. These will be relatively static due to the nature of the runes. For back, Resourcefulness Icon Resourcefulness is the best option by far due to the huge trap benefit this offers, as well as some mediocre secondary options. For rings, you have the leeway to pick what you want here, but you will always want to just take whatever weapon types you are currently using.
