Blackrock Foundry is a raid instance introduced in the World of Warcraft: Warlords of Draenor expansion. The raid is available in the following difficulties and sizes:

  • Raid Finder;
  • Normal mode (between 10 and 30 players, using the flex system);
  • Heroic mode (between 10 and 30 players, using the flex system);
  • Mythic mode, the hardest difficulty in the game (availably only in 20-man size).

The raid is part of Tier 17, in terms of PvE progression, and it houses 10 boss encounters.

Currently, we offer you the following strategy guides:

The raid instance entrance is located in the North of Gorgrond, just East of The Pit.

Overview of the Bosses

The instance is comprised of 4 wings. The wings presumably have to be attempted in order, and within each wing a certain boss must be attempted first, and the other two can be attempted in any order (and these two bosses are also optional). The final wing contains a single boss, Blackhand.

The Slagworks

The Slagworks is the first wing of the instance.

The first boss in the Slagworks is Gruul. This is a straightforward single target encounter that will test your raid's gear and ability to move in order to accommodate certain mechanics.

Oregorger is a single-target fight that, once again, will test the raid's ability to move, more than anything else. The boss will regularly enter a phase where he rolls around on the ground, and players must avoid him when this happens.

The Blast Furnace is a complex, three-phase encounter during which you fill face an extremely high number of adds and mechanics. The first two phases will spent dealing with adds, as you work your way to eventually releasing the boss, which you must defeat during the final phase.

The Black Forge

The Black Forge is the second wing of the instance.

The encounter against Hans'gar and Franzok is the first one in the Black Forge. This is an encounter that takes place in a very particular setting. You fight the two bosses (who share many of their abilities) in a room comprised of 5 moving conveyor belts. Positioning and movement play a crucial role in this fight, where you will sometimes have to perform a dance on the conveyor belts, in a fight that might remind players of Heigan the Unclean in Naxxramas.

Flamebender Ka'graz is a boss encounter that consists of a cycle of abilities (which the boss uses depending on how much energy she has, always in the same order) that repeats itself over and over again. Overall, the fight will test your raid's positioning, as well as your ability to handle adds, but it is worth noting that it places considerable strain on your tanks (and on their ability to switch adds and the boss between them).

Kromog is a stationary boss that blocks your raid's path, being very similar to Kologarn in Ulduar in this respect. This is a very interesting encounter with a few creative mechanics that will require your raid members to move in very precise ways.

Iron Assembly

The Iron Assembly is the third wing of the instance.

Beastlord Darmac is the first in the Iron Assembly. This is an encounter that will remind players of Iron Qon in the Throne of Thunder. The boss uses a number of different mounts throughout the fight, each one granting him different abilities. This is an encounter that will present the raid with a large number of abilities to handle, but most of them revolve around moving at the right time to avoid damage.

Operator Thogar is another boss encounter that takes place in a highly dynamic setting. You will fight Thogar on 4 train tracks, and throughout the fight trains will regularly come in on some of the tracks, killing any raid members who stand in front of them. When the trains come in, they drop off a number of adds that your raid keeps having to deal with, in addition to dealing with Thogar himself.

The Iron Maidens is a council-type encounter where you will face three bosses that do not share health. Periodically, one of the bosses will jump onto a nearby ship, and some of your raid members will have to follow the boss there in order to deal with some new adds or mechanics. Overall, this is a long and challenging encounter.

Blackhand's Crucible

Blackhand's Crucible is the final wing of the instance.

Blackhand is the final boss of the instance and of the entire raiding tier. The encounter is a brutal 3-phase fight which will strain your raid on every level.
