Shadowlands World & Zone Maps

Recommended Posts

46554-whats-next.jpg

This week's Shadowlands Alpha 9.0.1 Build 34137 added the Shadowlands world map to the game. We also look at maps of the new zones in more detail.

Shadowlands World Map

Here is the world map of Shadowlands. Oribos is the main hub of the expansion for both factions. The individual zones are separated from each other, which leaves room for discussion. We may see a Shadowlands Teleportation Hub similar to what we had back in Legion on Argus, or we'll be porting in and out of the new zones from Oribos and each zone will have flying enabled.

For comparison, below we have the Shadowlands map showcased at BlizzCon 2019.

Shadowlands is comprised of five zones: Ardenweald, Bastion, Maldraxxus, Revendreth, and the Maw, and next, we're looking at the five maps of the zones. Note that the Maw map is currently unfinished.

A new meta for Mythic+ is emerging, as Priests are capable of mind controlling mobs in dungeons and make them fall to their deaths, leading to efficient skips.
Here is a Priest mind controlling trash mobs in Mists of Tirna Scithe. There are no invisible walls, so it is possible to make the mobs jump to their death.
One Reddit user claims this also works for all mobs in Halls of Atonement up to the first boss.

Do you think this will get hotfixed soon?

They've gotten a bit smaller, but today's hotfixes are still pretty solid. Soul Ash will now be mailed to you if you forget to loot it, so you can go through Torghast without fear, there's more Covenant swap fixes, class tweaks and the regular huge quest fixes as well!
      November 27 (source)
      Classes
Mage General Fixed an issue where Clouded Diamond (Torghast Anima Power) would not trigger with Arcane Momentum. Warlock General Corrected an issue where Soul Rot (Night Fae Ability) was unable to be used if the warlock was low on health. Covenants
Corrected an issue that could cause players who were trying to switch covenants to incorrectly be treated as having previously been a member of their desired new covenant. Creatures and NPCs
Stablemaster Vasilica has taken up shop in Sinfall to help Venthyr covenant members recover their lost pets. Items and Rewards
TheMistcaller Ocarina trinket now refreshes its buff duration when the buff is already applied and the buff now lasts 15 minutes (was 5 minutes). Quests
Covenant Campaign Fixed an issue where characters who chose to enter the Threads of Fate could have quests in their log from "The Looming Dark" campaign that could no longer be completed. Bastion Fixed an issue where there were two Centurion Colossi visible during the quest "The Final Countdown." Maldraxxas Characters in Threads of Fate mode should no longer be offered the Maldraxxus quest "WANTED: The Key of Eyes" as it takes place in a level 60 area. Ardenweald Fixed an issue during the quest "Ride to Heartwood Grove" where the Riding Stag would not want to be mounted. Revendreth Players who logout during “Refuge of Revendreth” should no longer be required to restart the quest to complete it. Archivist Fane will now allow those sworn to the Venthyr to obtain the quest "Halls of Atonement: Your Absolution." Prince Renathal will now accept the turn in of "Cages For All Occasions" while mounted on a Bridled Shadehound. The Maw Resolved an issue where Brethlun the Brand can become stuck and permanently evade all oncoming attacks during the quest "The Brand Holds the Key." Battle for Azeroth Fixed an issue where Tyrande could get stuck in combat during the Battle for Azeroth Alliance scenario "In Darkest Night." Torghast, Tower of the Damned
Any Soul Ash that was not looted from defeated enemies will now be sent to the player’s mailbox. World Quests
Increased the spawn frequency of Brittle Bark Mischief-Makers needed for the World Quest “Spriggan Size Me!” Fixed an issue where Kleia could display incorrectly during the Bastion World Quest "Flight School: Falling With Style."

It seems the Shadowlands aren't getting the best of receptions over on the user side of things on Metacritic, and since the critic reviews aren't in yet that's the only score available. The negative reviews currently outweigh the positives, which wouldn't be problematic in general, but as often happens with Metacritic user reviews some negative ones are not really accurate or helpful. And the reasoning given in some of these some reviews is pretty... "interesting", so one might characterize this as review bombing.

The scores themselves are always problematic with Metacritic, but it seems Shadowlands is particularly afflicted with this issue at the moment, as the vast majority of the negative side of the slider are just 0 scores. There are some negative ones that are perfectly legitimate, with fair evaluations of the person's opinion, but most are just 0 or 1 scores (in a 0-10 scoring system), and many of them have some VERY insightful "reviews" to offer:
Regardless of some of the above perhaps having some valid points, assigning a 1 or 0 to a game as complex as WoW is just laughable, and while it has become the de-facto way to say "I don't like this", it's just pretty sad to see in the WoW community.
Then there are also those that are legitimately frustrated at the very real issues present, like queues and similar (although with this logic, Vanilla, BC, Classic and basically the majority of WoW expansions would also get a 0):
There's plenty more where that came from, as well as glowing 10-scores, so if you're interested, head on over to Metacritic's page and check them out!

The Neutral never stops! Doubleagent, the Pandaren that refuses to pick a faction and is thus trapped on the Wandering Isle, pre-Horde/Alliance choice, is back in the Shadowlands and chasing that maximum level via only herbing and mining!
The Shadowlands made this endeavour quite a bit easier, as XP from the nodes was substantially increased, so much so that a Vulpera was able to get from 10-50 in about 20 hours recently! The neutral club has also grown over the years, and we now have a full group (at least) of Pandaren that are standing up to the faction separation and have made their home on the Wandering Isle! Here's the start of Doubleagent's Shadowlands trip:
We're eagerly awaiting the level 60 ding! It'll almost be as awesome a level up as this one! You can also check out Doubleagent's previous max level ding, 120, or the Legion one in which he goes into detail on the entire journey.

The first 3 Torghast layers became available this week, and the total amount of Soul Ash you can collect is 810 if you are at max level.
Two Torghast wings are available each weak, meaning you can get up to 305 Soul Ash from each wing if you complete Layer 3 for a total of 610 Soul Ash. The Explore Torghast quest is also available and rewards an additional 200 Soul Ash upon completion. In total, you can acquire 810 Soul Ash this week. You will need 1,250 Soul Ash to craft your first legendary item, though, so you will be able to craft it next week (December 1, 2020).
Check out our Torghast guide for more information about the Tower of the Damned!
