Stellar Reactions in Genshin Impact
This guide explains Stellar Conduct and Stellar Swirl in Genshin Impact, the Elemental Reactions added in version 6.7 and 7.0.
Stellar-Reactions are brand new reactions nominally introduced in 6.7, and play a major role in Snezhnaya's character designs. Our 7.0 Stellar-Reactions guide covers everything you need to know about these new reactions and which characters can use them.
The currently available Stellar-Reactions are:
- Stellar-Conduct - An upgraded version of Super-Conduct
- Stellar-Swirl - An upgraded version of Swirl
These reactions follow a similar formula to Lunar-Reactions introduced in Nod-Krai. Some characters with a Stellar Linchpin can deal Direct Stellar damage. These include newly buffed characters and brand new characters introduced in Snezhnaya. Much like Lunar-Reactions, Stellar-Reactions Require Certain Characters to be enabled; these are:
Characters who can utilize Stellar-Reactions include:
| Character | Ability |
|---|---|
| Sandrone | Deals Either Stellar-Conduct or Stellar-Swirl DMG. |
| Odette | Deals Either Stellar-Conduct or Stellar-Swirl DMG. Provides Stellar DMG buffs to Party Members. |
| Cryo Traveler | Deals Either Stellar-Conduct or Stellar-Swirl DMG. Provides EM and Stellar DMG buffs at higher constellations. |
| Yumemizuki Mizuki | Deals & Increases Stellar-Swirl DMG. |
| Yae Miko | Deals Off-field Stellar-Conduct DMG. Provides Stellar-Conduct DMG at C1. |
| Wriothesley | Deals Stellar-Conduct DMG. |
| Cyno | Deals Stellar-Conduct DMG. |
| Qiqi | Deals Either Stellar-Conduct or Stellar-Swirl DMG. Provides Stellar DMG buffs to Party Members. |
| Diona | Provides Stellar DMG Buff at C6. |
| Beidou | Provides Cryo RES Shred & EM towards Stellar-Conduct at C6. |
Stellar Artifact Sets include:
| Artifact Set | Effect |
|---|---|
| Disenchantment in Deep Shadow | Increases ATK %, Stellar-Conduct DMG Bonus, and CRIT Rate. |
| Scarlet Proof | Increases ATK %, Stellar-Swirl DMG Bonus, and CRIT Rate. |
| Heart of the Furnace | Increases ATK %, provides a Stellar DMG Bonus to Party Members. |
| Viridescent Venerer | Increases Stellar-Swirl DMG, reduces enemy Anemo & Cryo RES. |
Other Artifact sets with effects that trigger with Elemental Reactions also work with Stellar-Reactions.
Both Stellar-Conduct & Stellar-Swirl are Transformative Reactions, which means they ignore enemy DEF. This also applies to Direct Stellar DMG dealt. Stellar-Reactions can also CRIT, much like Lunar-Reactions. The general formula for Direct Stellar DMG follows:
TL;DR: Direct Stellar DMG scales off a character's ATK, EM, CRIT, and Stellar DMG % Bonus, as well as other kit-specific bonuses.
To trigger Stellar Reaction DMG, the party must include either Sandrone or Odette (both provide up to a 14% Stellar Base DMG bonus via Stellar Jubilee: Light of Rationalisme). Cryo Traveler also enables Stellar Reactions and grants up to a 7% Stellar Base DMG Bonus.
- Dealing Direct Stellar-Conduct DMG requires the character to be in the Polestar Field.
- Direct Stellar-Swirl DMG can be dealt for 8s after triggering a Stellar-Swirl reaction.
Stellar-Conduct
When Electro & Cryo react, Stellar-Conduct is triggered (assuming enabling characters are present). A Polestar Field is created, granting characters inside the Polestar Field a Base Reaction Coefficient for Direct Stellar-Conduct DMG dealt, an Electro & Cryo DMG Bonus, and reducing enemies' Physical Resistance by a constant 40%.
To grant the buffs, the Polestar Field records the number of Electro & Cryo Elemental Applications made by all party members on-field & off-field in the Polestar Field for a 4s duration. Based on the number of Elemental Applications, buffs are granted for the next 4s - and the cycle repeats.
| Number of hits recorded | Base Reaction Coefficient | Electro & Cryo DMG Bonus | Enemy Physical RES Decrease |
|---|---|---|---|
| 0 | 1 | 20% | 40% |
| 1 | 1.45 | 29% | 40% |
| 2 | 1.5 | 30% | 40% |
| 3 | 1.55 | 31% | 40% |
| 4 | 1.6 | 32% | 40% |
| 5 | 1.65 | 33% | 40% |
| 6 | 1.7 | 34% | 40% |
| 7 | 1.75 | 35% | 40% |
| 8 | 1.8 | 36% | 40% |
| 9 | 1.85 | 37% | 40% |
| 10 | 1.9 | 38% | 40% |
| 11 | 1.95 | 39% | 40% |
| 12 | 2 | 40% | 40% |
Stellar-Swirl
When Anemo & Cryo react, Stellar-Swirl is triggered (assuming enabling characters are present), dealing Anemo DMG and summoning a Vortex.
The Stellar-Swirl Vortex will detonate after 4.5s, dealing DMG. The Vortex scales on Elemental Mastery (as well as CRIT) and utilizes a contribution scale to determine the final DMG, much like Lunar-Charged. While the Vortex is active, it records the stats of all characters who contributed to triggering the Swirl Reaction. The final damage of the Vortex scales more heavily on the side of the character who has the highest EM, CRIT, and Stellar DMG stats.
Triggering the Swirl Reaction while the Vortex is summoned can increase the Vortex's DMG and allow it to detonate faster.
| Number of Swirl Reactions | Vortex Base Multiplier |
|---|---|
| 1-2 Swirls | 2x Base Multiplier |
| 3-6 Swirls | 3x Base Multiplier |
When 6 Swirls are triggered, the Vortex detonates immediately.
Both Stellar-Swirl and Stellar-Conduct rely on increased Elemental applications to deal more DMG through the reactions and trigger other effects.
Stellar Teams Overview
Playing Stellar-Conduct or Stellar-Swirl teams without Sandrone as a Main-DPS requires Odette to enable the Stellar-Reactions. Alternatively, in the case of Anemo Stellar-Swirl, Cryo Traveler can also be used to enable the reaction.
With Stellar-Conduct Main DPS characters such as Wriothesley or Cyno, using another Main-DPS like Sandrone or Cryo Traveler does not perform as well since these characters do not have off-field presence to generate Stellar-Conduct stacks and would require splitting on-field time.
Stellar-Conduct teams
A common team core for a Stellar-Conduct team is going to feature Yae Miko & Odette, where both are off-field Sub-DPSes, with both being able to consistently apply their element from off-field. Yae Miko can deal a significant portion of the team's damage. Her C1 Yakan Offering can also provide a 50% Stellar-DMG buff to party members. Odette can also deal decent off-field damage, and provides up to a 60% Stellar-DMG buff. Odette is also often the best user of the Heart of the Furnace set to provide a consistent Stellar-DMG bonus buff.
The last slot of Stellar-Conduct teams can be another Electro or Cryo character who can buff Stellar-DMG or provide relevant buffs such as Alyosha or Qiqi, or a character who can be used to provide consistent stacks such as Escoffier. The last slot can also be any other character who can provide large ATK or EM buffs instead of stacks, such as Sucrose or Nicole.
Non-Stellar-Conduct Electro or Cryo DMG dealers can also be considered for such teams for the DMG bonus provided by Stellar-Conduct. However, solely using these teams for the DMG bonus provided is not recommended, as other characters can provide greater DMG buffs.
Stellar-Swirl teams
Currently, Yumemizuki Mizuki is one of the best Stellar-Swirl on-fielders, where she can provide EM buffs and apply consistent Anemo to trigger the Swirl Reaction. These teams would usually require Cryo Traveler or Odette to enable the Stellar-Swirl Reaction. Both characters can also deal decent DMG and provide relevant buffs. The last slot of this team can be another Anemo character to provide either consistent off-field Anemo application or provide relevant buffs such as EM. Sucrose is often the best option for this last slot.
The goal in a Stellar-Swirl team is to apply as much Anemo & Cryo onto enemies to trigger Cryo Swirls and deal damage through the Vortex. Cryo Main DPS Characters who can deal Direct Stellar-Swirl damage such as Sandrone can also be played in Stellar-Swirl teams.
