Diablo 2: Resurrected Class Guides and Skill Calculator

Recommended Posts

Man, where were these guides back in the day, eh?!

I'm going pure nostalgia to one of my 3 favorites:

  • Summoner Necromancer (*filtered*)
  • Whirlwind Barbarian (spin2win)
  • Blizzard Sorceress (i'm not sober, need things moving slower)

With those listed, I think my FIRST character in this newly renovated game will be the Necromancer, Summoner specialty. While the boss fights usually proved to be difficult from memory, everything else was much easier to handle. You also never feel quite so lonely with your parade of skellies at your side!

Looking at the Sorc tree though, I'm getting mad memories too... I remember when I first played the game at launch 20+ years ago, thinking I should max Warmth 😂

edit: I forgot about magic find in this game, and memories just flooded into my mind. Going to go Cold Sorc so I can teleport to bosses, static field them down, and finish them off quick.

So looking forward to making my Trapsin! Then once I start getting the right gear and runes, it's Whirlwind time! 🌪

I remember back in the day, getting so excited when I got a superior lance to drop for me to upgrade 😄

That's the feeling I want to have again! It felt really good when something nice dropped during Alpha and Beta, even knowing the items would be deleted in a few days. It's like being a kid all over again! 😂

Don't forget the Town Dump Bear Build! This is a late game build dependent on all skill points being available, a high strength requirement when using

Shape Shifting Skills
1 point to all prerequisites
20 points to Lycanthropy: Required
1 Werebear: Primary form. Candidate for additional points especially since 1.13 boost
5 points minimum to Maul: Main attack. Candidate for additional points
1 Hunger: Auxiliary skill
1 Shock Wave: Auxiliary skill

Summoning Skills
1 point to all prerequisites
20 Heart of Wolverine: Primary spirit
20 Summon Dire Wolf: Primary summon
20 Summon Grizzly: Summon for bosses

Stats
Strength: Enough for gear
Dexterity: Enough for gear
Stamina: Everything else
Energy: None

Gear
Helm: Jalal's Mane
Amulet: Angelic Wings | Highlord's Wrath pre-Angelic
Armor: IK's Soul Cage | Fortitude or Chains of Honor pre-IK
Gloves: IK's Forge | Dracul's Grasp pre-IK
Belt: IK's Detail | String of Ears or Arachnid Mesh pre-IK
Boots: IK's Pillar | Gore Rider pre-IK
Ring 1: Raven Frost
Ring 2: Angelic Halo | Bul-Kathos' Wedding Band pre-Angelic
Weapon: IK's Stone Crusher | Beast + Phoenix pre-IK
Weapon Swap: Doom + Spirit
Charm 1: Hellfire Torch
Charm 2: Annihilus
Charm 3: 9x Skiller Grand Charms with Life or Faster Hit Recovery
Charm 4: Max Damage/Attack Rating/Life Charms
Charm 5: 10 Small Charms with Life, Resistances, Mana, or Faster Hit Recovery depending on needs

4-5 piece Immortal King's is due to the +elemental damage on the IK's Stone Crush for partial set bonus:

  • Adds 211-397 Fire Damage (2 Items)
  • Adds 7-477 Lightning Damage (3 Items)
  • Adds 127-364 Cold Damage, 6 sec. Duration (Normal) (4 Items)
  • +204 Poison Damage Over 6 Seconds (5 Items)

Since Maul and your Summons are physical damage, this overcomes the issue of Physical Immune bosses..

2 piece Angelic Rainment is for the huge attack rating partial set bonus given to the ring, and the amulet's damage soak by 20% of it hitting your mana pool instead. The extra Life ain't unwelcome either.

Mercenary
Act 2 Nightmare Offensive (your gear/skills are complete, otherwise Defensive)
Armor: Fortitude or Chains of Honor
Helm: Andariel's Visage + Ral
Weapon: The Reaper's Toll or Obedience

* Charms shamelessly pilfered from the Fury Druid guide here on Icy.

MrLlamaSC just set a new Baal world record in Diablo 2 with a Necromancer run – and hinted that he might try for an even faster time soon!
MrLlamaSC Just Crushed the Baal WR in Diablo 2 Resurrected!
If you missed it, MrLlamaSC just pulled off a new world record time for a full Baal run in Diablo 2: Resurrected. Clocking in at 4:24:02, this puts him over 11 minutes ahead of the previous listed WR (4:35:47) – a huge improvement for the current ladder.
He pulled it off using a Necromancer, which is not always the go-to class for Baal WR attempts.
As you can see in the screenshot below, his splits showed strong times across all five bosses:
      Andariel – 3:24:41 Duriel – 3:35:59 Mephisto – 3:48:09 Diablo – 3:55:10 Baal – 4:24:02
You can spot the record right on his timer overlay from the run.
And He Is Not Done Yet
Llama already confirmed the time is a new personal best, and mentioned he might run it again later today. With some better early maps and a bit more luck, we could see an even faster WR soon.
In any case, we will be watching to see if he starts another run later today and how the next attempt goes. Seeing new Diablo 2 records being set to this day feels both nostalgic and exciting!
If you want to watch the full record-setting run, you can catch the VOD on his Twitch channel under recent broadcasts. He also regularly shares tips, builds, and other content over on MrLlama's YouTube for anyone looking to learn more about Diablo 2.
If you are curious about his build, route, or want to revisit the best way to start your own Ladder push, check out our D2 guides section on Icy Veins for more.

However subtle, a joyous invocation permeates Sanctuary, casting a ray of holiday celebration upon its inhabitants. . . or is this demonic trickery?
