General Information

On this page, you will find tips, tricks, and strategies tailored to your Augmentation Evoker for each boss of the following raid: Aberrus, the Shadowed Crucible. All our content is updated for World of Warcraft — Season 4.

1.

Introduction

Below, you can find class and spec-specific advice for every fight in Aberrus. If you are looking for a general overview of the Raid that is not spec-specific, check out our dedicated Aberrus, the Shadowed Crucible guides.

On this page, you will find Augmentation Evoker specific information to deal with each boss in the Aberrus raid. These are not complete encounter guides but rather provide specific tips for doing the bosses as a Augmentation Evoker.

This page assumes that you already understand most of the mechanics of each encounter. These can be found on the full raid guide, so what is contained here are details specifically tailored toward Augmentation Evoker and what you can do to deal with each fight as best as possible.

This page contains some more detailed advice on which classes are good to buff for each fight. The single target priority still will loosely apply even in the fights with adds, so if you wish to follow that always, you can without too much DPS loss. I would like to reiterate that optimizing buff targets on a fight-by-fight basis is not required to play Augmentation. While there are significant damage gains associated with doing so, it is not necessary to still perform well or enjoy the class. Finally, how well the player you are buffing plays their class, as well as their gear, can impact the value of the buffs by more than their class.

We suggest reading the dedicated page where this is discussed along with general target recommendations for your buffs that are linked below:

3.2.

Tips

  • Kazzara is a normal single-target encounter with nothing to change the value of your buffs. We recommend following the normal priority from our targeting page.
  • You can opt into using Zephyr Icon Zephyr as a personal cooldown for the Hellsteel Carnage Icon Hellsteel Carnage casts at 80%, 60%, 40%. Otherwise, use Obsidian Scales Icon Obsidian Scales, Renewing Blaze Icon Renewing Blaze for these.
  • Be ready to move away from Hellbeam Icon Hellbeam if it is cast in your direction.
  • Have Hover Icon Hover active for the Wings of Extinction Icon Wings of Extinction knockbacks to carry on casting.
  • If you are targeted by Rays of Anguish Icon Rays of Anguish, Hover Icon Hover to a Dread Rifts Icon Dread Rifts to carry on DPSing whilst handling the mechanic correctly.

For more information, please refer to our Kazzara guide.

Talents/Build

For this boss, I suggest you use the default build at the top of this page. The import string is linked again below for convenience.

BEcBAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAQikWkkQIJplESSSDAAAAAEAAkEAISISSCAAAASk0ikkIJQ0SA

4.2.

Tips

  • This fight is two target cleave on pull which dramatically inflates the value of classes that can cleave both, such as Destruction Warlock, Frost Mage (if they stacked) and Shadow Priest. This boost is enough to bring those classes up in power to be competitive with normal standouts like Unholy Death Knight on pull. After the bosses combine, you go back to normal single-target buff priority.
  • When you have high stacks of Corrupting Shadow Icon Corrupting Shadow (Shadow: P1), Blazing Heat (Fire: P1), or Shadowflame Contamination Icon Shadowflame Contamination (P2) start to use defensives.
  • Be ready to Hover Icon Hover if you are targeted by Umbral Detonation Icon Umbral Detonation (Shadow: P1) or Blistering Twilight Icon Blistering Twilight (P2) to place the pools away from the raid.
  • If you are on the Fire side in Phase 1, try not to stand in the middle of the room as you may bait Swirling Flame Icon Swirling Flame to the Shadow group.

For more information, please refer to our Amalgamation Chamber guide.

5.

The Forgotten Experiments

5.1.

Talents/Build

For this fight, we suggest swapping Echoing Strike Icon Echoing Strike for Pupil of Alexstrasza Icon Pupil of Alexstrasza, and 1 point of Innate Magic Icon Innate Magic for Cauterizing Flame Icon Cauterizing Flame.

BEcBAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAQikWkkQIJpkESSSDAAAAAEAAkEIg4AhIJJAAAAIRSLSSikARLB

5.2.

Tips

  • This fight is very different in priority on Mythic to lower difficulties. If you are not fighting the Mythic version, use the standard single-target buff priority.
  • On Mythic, the fight is two target stacked cleave with adds that spawn throughout. Depending on your guild strategy, the exact time at which you will use your first Breath of Eons Icon Breath of Eons changes, but we suggest pairing it with your guilds Blood Lust/Heroism use as this is consistently when guilds want people to use their first set of cooldowns.
  • Because of the stacked cleave nature of this fight Shadow Priests, Destruction Warlocks, Frost Mages and Devastation Evokers perform notably better during the multi-target portions, and make them a recommended buff target during these windows.
  • For opener (if 2 targets when Bloodlust is used) we suggest buffing Unholy Death Knight > Destruction > Arcane Mage > Frost Mage > Shadow Priest > Frost Death Knight > Follow Normal Priority for everyone else.
  • Cauterizing Flame Icon Cauterizing Flame can remove the Rending Charge Icon Rending Charge debuff.
  • Use Hover Icon Hover to escape the cone from Massive Slam Icon Massive Slam and the lines from Deep Breath Icon Deep Breath.
  • As Phase 2 goes on, more and more Erratic Remnant adds will spawn. You can cast Eruption Icon Eruption on these adds to help your team kill them quickly.
  • Use personals and Zephyr Icon Zephyr for Violent Eruption Icon Violent Eruption and Disintegrate Icon Disintegrate.

For more information, please refer to our Forgotten Experiments guide.

Assault of the Zaqali

6.1.

Talents/Build

For this fight, we suggest swapping Echoing Strike Icon Echoing Strike for Pupil of Alexstrasza Icon Pupil of Alexstrasza.

BEcBAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAQikWkkQIJpkESSSDAAAAAEAAkEAISISSCAAAASk0ikkIJQ0SA

6.2.

Tips

  • Zaqali starts as a single target encounter, so we suggest following our standard recommendations on pull.
  • Shortly after pull, he will jump away, and you will split into two groups to deal with the many adds spawning. The hectic AoE nature of this fight makes choosing who to buff difficult, especially with the split raid team; our suggestion for the rest of this fight is to just buff whoever is on your side is doing the most damage. Enhancement Shamans, Boomkins, Shadow Priests, Frost Death Knights, and Devastation Evokers are all solid options
  • Magma Mystics are the highest priority add to kill, and they have a gigantic absorb shield. Take advantage of Unravel Icon Unravel here.

For more information, please refer to our Assault of the Zaqali guide.

7.

Rashok, the Elder

7.1.

Talents/Build

For this boss, I suggest you use the default build at the top of this page. The import string is linked again below for convenience.

BEcBAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAQikWkkQIJplESSSDAAAAAEAAkEAISISSCAAAASk0ikkIJQ0SA

7.2.

Tips

  • Rashok is a standard single-target encounter with movement getting more and more hectic nearer the end. Use standard single target buff priority for this fight.
  • Be ready to soak Doom Flames Icon Doom Flames. Take advantage of Hover Icon Hover to get ones that are a little out of reach for most players, even if they push you out of range of the boss for a short period if no one else is nearby to take it instead of you.
  • Avoid the Shadowlava Blast Icon Shadowlava Blast. This will happen after the third Searing Slam Icon Searing Slam of each Phase 1 cycle.
  • There is a lot of periodic damage on this encounter, be sure to take advantage of this by using Verdant Embrace Icon Verdant Embrace on yourself for more DPS.
  • Use Obsidian Scales Icon Obsidian Scales when soaking Charged Smash Icon Charged Smash.

For more information, please refer to our Rashok the Elder guide.

8.

The Vigilant Steward, Zskarn

8.1.

Talents/Build

For this fight, we suggest swapping Echoing Strike Icon Echoing Strike for Pupil of Alexstrasza Icon Pupil of Alexstrasza.

BEcBAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAQikWkkQIJpkESSSDAAAAAEAAkEAISISSCAAAASk0ikkIJQ0SA

8.2.

Tips

  • Zskarn is mostly a single-target fight, so normal buff rules apply however when golems are out, classes that excel in spread cleave shoot up in value. We suggest buffing Destruction Warlocks and Shadow Priests before golem waves as they will be doing very high damage.
  • Hover Icon Hover into melee range of the boss just before Blast Wave Icon Blast Wave is cast to ensure you do not get pushed out of range and can keep DPSing the whole time.
  • If your strategy requires Golems to be CC'd when they spawn Landslide Icon Landslide is great for this.
  • You can stop casts from Golems with Quell Icon Quell, Wing Buffet Icon Wing Buffet and Tail Swipe Icon Tail Swipe.

For more information, please refer to our Zskarn guide.

9.

Magmorax

9.1.

Talents/Build

For this boss, I suggest you use the default build at the top of this page. The import string is linked again below for convenience.

BEcBAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAQikWkkQIJplESSSDAAAAAEAAkEAISISSCAAAASk0ikkIJQ0SA

9.2.

Tips

  • Magmorax is a standard single-target encounter. Standard single target buff priority for this fight.
  • Hover Icon Hover to move out of Blazing Breath Icon Blazing Breath.
  • Overpowering Stomp Icon Overpowering Stomp can be negated with Glide (hitting spacebar once you are in mid-air). If you have any Priests or Paladins, it can be worthwhile to Rescue Icon Rescue them.
  • Use Obsidian Scales Icon Obsidian Scales or Renewing Blaze Icon Renewing Blaze when you need to do any soaking of Magma Puddle Icon Magma Puddle's.
  • There is near-constant ticking damage on this encounter, be sure to use Verdant Embrace Icon Verdant Embrace to gain a slight DPS benefit.

For more information, please refer to our Magmorax guide.

10.

Echo of Neltharion

10.1.

Talents/Build

For this fight, we suggest swapping Echoing Strike Icon Echoing Strike for Pupil of Alexstrasza Icon Pupil of Alexstrasza.

BEcBAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAQikWkkQIJpkESSSDAAAAAEAAkEAISISSCAAAASk0ikkIJQ0SA

10.2.

Tips

  • Phase 1: Neltharion starts out as a single target encounter, so we suggest following standard buff targeting priority on pull.
  • Phase 2: During Phase 2 there will be a 2nd add to cleave down. We suggest still using the standard priority, but Frost Death Knights and Devastation Evokers gain notable value.
  • Phase 3: During Phase 3, there will be lots of small adds. During this phase, it is hard to predict who will be strongest, but Frost Death Knights, Devastation Evokers, Demonology during their cooldowns, Arcane Mages during their Cooldowns are all extremely potent. We suggest basing who to buff in this phase off logs from your own guild and checking Phase 3 Damage.
  • Phase 1 and 2: Move away with Volcanic Heart Icon Volcanic Heart.
  • Phase 1: Aim Rushing Darkness Icon Rushing Darkness to an external wall to not break any destructible walls.
  • Phase 2: Aim Rushing Darkness Icon Rushing Darkness to an external wall unless the way to the next segment has not been opened yet. It is important to note that if you jump and glide, it may not break the wall.
  • Heroic & Mythic. Phase 2: Unravel Icon Unravel will be a huge benefit on the adds if you are marked with Corruption Icon Corruption as you do very little damage otherwise as an Augmentation.
  • Phase 2: Be ready to move to a new location when an add has died.
  • Phase 3: When Ebon Destruction Icon Ebon Destruction is cast run into a portal to survive.

For more information, please refer to our Neltharion guide.

Scalecommander Sarkareth

11.1.

Talents/Build

For this fight, we suggest swapping Echoing Strike Icon Echoing Strike for Pupil of Alexstrasza Icon Pupil of Alexstrasza.

BEcBAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAQikWkkQIJpkESSSDAAAAAEAAkEAISISSCAAAASk0ikkIJQ0SA

11.2.

Tips

  • Phase 1: Sarkareth starts out as a single target encounter so we suggest following standard buff targeting priority on pull and for the rest of Phase 1.
  • Phase 2: During Phase Two there are constant add waves spawning. You can use a Long Prescience Icon Prescience into a short Prescience just before you go into the intermission, and then as you come back up from the intermission, you should cast two Prescience Icon Prescience instantly into an Ebon Might Icon Ebon Might giving you get four targets of your choice. We recommend buffing Devastation Evoker > Frost Death Knight > Arcane Mage > Shadow Priest > Enhancement Shamans > Other Specs as they are about to do a massive burst AOE to that first wave of adds with their cooldowns. Follow up the Prescience Icon Prescience with Ebon Might Icon Ebon Might and then get ready to use Breath of Eons Icon Breath of Eons to hit the boss. If you are on Mythic difficulty, make sure you also hit the large add, as it is incredibly important to kill.
  • Phase 2: Outside of the initial cooldowns 2min cooldown burst we recommend you continue to buff Devastation Evokers, Shadow Priests, Enhancement Shamans and Frost Death Knights as they do large out CD dps to the adds. Whenever Arcane Mages or Unholy Death Knights get their cooldowns back, we suggest buffing them over anyone else, though.
  • Phase 3: There are several different strategies for phase 3, especially on Mythic, which involves DPS going down; however, in all of them it is a common trend for DPS to press their cooldowns straight after with the massive Haste buff. You will want to use your Breath of Eons Icon Breath of Eons then. In this phase, we suggest buffing the same class priorities as Phase 2. After you come up from the Ascensions, you will want to prioritize the Demonology Warlock again.
  • Phase 1: Use Hover Icon Hover during forced movement from Drifting Embers Icon Drifting Embers to avoid losing dps, have Obsidian Scales Icon Obsidian Scales up when you are soaking Searing Breath Icon Searing Breath or Mass Disintegrate Icon Mass Disintegrate.
  • Phase 2: Same as phase 1 for Hover Icon Hover usage, defensives should be used for the later Infinite Duress Icon Infinite Duress dispels as they are the only dangerous part of the phase.
  • Phase 3: This phase is primarily single target, you will spend the vast majority of this phase stacked as a raid group as positioning is key, the damage intake early in the phase is very minimal, so do not be afraid to hoard your defensives toward the end of the phase when you are resetting stacks of Oblivion Icon Oblivion.

For more information, please refer to our Scalecommander Sarkareth guide.
