PvE Rankings
S-Tier
Night Elf
Being a Night Elf in WoW Forever has its pros & cons, as their
newly added active racial ability
Elune's Light is arguably the best active
trait among all races, giving you damage on demand. You can combine this with
any other powerful ability or cooldown to create very high burst.
Shadowmeld
has also received a minor rework, this time around also having use in PvE. If your threat
is too high, you can meld to drop it, although once you leave Shadowmeld the threat will return.
Unfortunately both
Quickness &
Wisp Spirit
have little impact on your overall competitive performance inside raids or dungeons, but
are still somewhat useful while leveling.
Human
Humans are another excellent Alliance choice for PvE simply because of their
Ruthless
passive, which increases their critical strike chance by 1%.
To make this deal even sweeter, they just received a substantial buff to their
The Human Spirit trait, buffing it from 5% to 10% Spirit, which is great
news for all Healers rolling Human. Overall, Human is one of the most well-rounded races you can
pick in WoW Forever, and they are great in both PvE and PvP!
Orc
Playing Orc in PvE has some solid benefits, with their iconic
Blood Fury
on-use ability giving them 10% more
Attack Power & Spell Power for 15 sec on a 2-min cooldown. On top of this, Command
lets Hunter and Warlock pets do 5% more damage, making it a decent choice if you are truly
focused on PvE. If you plan to play all competitive aspects of the game, including PvP, Orc
is a great choice.
A-Tier
Gnome
Playing Gnome in PvE can have its benefits.
Eureka! was a great
addition for WoW Forever, adding more damage or healing on-demand.
In addition to that,
Expansive Mind has been reworked, previously giving
exclusively 5% Intellect, but now this has been expanded to grant 5% Mana, Energy, or
Rage, depending on class. More resources are always nice, and the
Engineering Specialization
can have its uses too, although it is quite niche for PvE.
High Order Skyborne
High Order Skyborne is the newly added Race in WoW Forever, which
comes with its own set of unique racial abilities.
Read Ley Line helps you
regenerate 50% more Mana & Health, but if there is a nearby Ley Line it turns into
a 60-minute buff which persists through death, that grants you 100%
Mana & Health Regen for 15 seconds. Sadly these benefits don't work inside raids.
Wind Blessed provides
great offensive value for your kit, increasing your spellcasting, melee, and ranged Haste
by 2%. Last but not least,
Elemental Insight will give you 5% more damage
against Elementals, which can be useful in some occasional raid & dungeon boss fights.
Windshaper Skyborne
Windshaper Skyborne is an excellent choice for PvE content for severals reasons;
Skysight
will provide you with extra movement speed, which can help you dodge raid & dungeon mechanics
easier, and
Wind Blessed buffing you with 2% increased spellcasting, melee
and ranged Haste is a solid DPS boost.
Elemental Insight will give you 5% more damage
against Elementals, which as we mentioned earlier can be quite useful in
certain dungeons or raids.
Dwarf
There are a few benefits to playing Dwarf in PvE in WoW Forever, with the biggest
one being Artisan's Precision. This increases your hit chance with spells and attacks
by 1%, so hit caps might be a bit easier to reach. Their newly reworked
Stoneform (it used to give 10% flat Armor instead of all
physical damage taken reduced by 10%) is also quite potent defensively, and the
dispel itself can be useful against some of the new raid & dungeon boss fights.
Unfortunately,
Find Treasure has little to no use in competitive content,
and
Big Game Hunter can be quite limiting as it only works against Beasts.
Troll
Troll is another strong Horde race in WoW Forever, with
its unique
Berserking on-use ability giving you a nice DPS & Healing
spike in dungeon & raid content. The newly added on-use ability
Rapid Regeneration can
be quite useful during downtime moments in PvE encounters, giving you some nice self-healing
capabilities. And of course let's not forget
the
Beast Slaying bonus, which can be useful in a niche situations when fighting
bosses that are classified as beasts! Trolls are
a fantastic choice, offering you both offensive
and defensive racial benefits.
B-Tier
Tauren
Tauren's
Plainsrunning might be the best open-world
racial trait to date, especially during leveling before you acquire your
ground mount. However, once you grab your mount, this bonus becomes nigh useless. If you
are a Ranged DPS trying to PvP, Plainsrunning might allow you to kite easier,
and if you are melee, you can move form pack to pack a bit faster.
Endurance will grant
you 5% more HP, improving your survivability. Lastly,
War Stomp is
also a great addition to your utility kit, if you need extra crowd-control. That being said,
strictly for higher-end PvE purposes, Tauren is looking kind of grim right now.
Undead
As the Horde kings of PvP, Undead unfortunately are not looking that great
in PvE dungeons and raids.
Touch of the Grave will help you deal a bit of extra
damage and heal yourself on a short proc cooldown, but both
Cannibalize and
Will of the Forsaken have little to no use in actual boss encounters, unless it is
the occasional encounter with a fear mechanic.
PvP Rankings
S-Tier
Gnome
Gnomes are considered one of the best races in Forever for
PvP for several reasons:
Eureka! as their newly added active
racial ability can be used both offensively and defensively, and is incredibly strong!
Additionally,
Expansive Mind has been reworked, previously giving
exclusively 5% Intellect, which has now been expanded to grant 5% Mana, Energy, or
Rage, depending on class. Finally,
Escape Artist frees you from any movement impairing effect, and
also gives you a 3 sec immunity against those effects (which is broken). Beyond actual combat,
Engineering Specialization will reduce the rate of Engineering
devices failing or backfiring by 20%, which is another great addition for PvP
where Engineering has always been one of the best professions you could pick!
Human
Humans are one of the strongest Races for PvP due to their
Will to Survive active
racial ability, which removes all stun effects (similar to a PvP trinket, but baseline). In addition
to this, their critical strike chance is increased by 1% thanks to their
Ruthless
passive.
The Human Spirit trait also received major buffs, going from 5% to 10% Spirit,
which is great news for all Healers choosing Human. Lastly,
Perception makes PvP
against stealthed targets a lot easier - Rogues and Druids will hate you!
Orc
Historically, Orc has always been one of the best PvP options on
the Horde side and in WoW Forever is unlikely to change. They are
getting a brand new on-use racial ability,
Shatter Curse, which can be used
as an additional defense against Magical damage and also serves as a Curse and Bane removal.
The iconic
Blood Fury received a minor rework, now giving you 10% more
Attack Power & Spell Power for 15 sec. While
Hardiness received a minor nerf,
dropping its value to 20%, that is still incredibly powerful, and Hunter and Warlock Orcs
get to enjoy Command, making their pets do 5% more damage. Lots of bonuses,
and all of them are great.
A-Tier
Undead
Undead might have gotten the biggest racial rework to date.
Their newly added and changed passive trait,
Touch of the Grave,
grants a decent chunk of damage in PvP, and even heals you, on just a ~15-second cooldown!
Cannibalize has received a much warranted rework, now regenerating 7% Health & Mana
every 2 sec, letting you heal back up after a quick CC on an opponent. All of those
are fantastic changes for PvP, with the cherry on top being
Will of the Forsaken, which,
although nerfed, is still a great button to have against anyone who can fear you. If
you are looking to hardcore PvP, Undead is one of the best choices.
High Order Skyborne
The new High Order Skyborne race will provide you with
Read Ley Line, helping you
regen 50% more Mana & Health, but if there is a nearby Ley Line, it turns into
a 60 min buff, which gives you 100%
Mana & Health Regen for 15 seconds when it triggers.
Walk on Air has some great use in open-world PvP and
battlegrounds, as it helps you manuever much quicker from point A to point B when you can make
use of the gliding effect. Lastly,
Wind Blessed will increase your spellcasting, melee and ranged Haste
by 2% for a little bit of extra damage. Overall not a bad choice for PvP, but there
are far better races out there on the Alliance side!
Night Elf
Night Elf's
Elune's Light is the biggest
argument to playing the race in PvP, as it makes bursty classes even better, creating
some sweet opportunities for quick burst thanks to the increased critical strike chance.
Shadowmeld has its value in PvP, especially if you are trying to "camp" someone and you don't want to be
seen, or are defending a spot in a battleground. Lastly,
Quickness adds a slight
defensive and offensive opportunity for you, and provides even more value if you are Rogue
or a Druid in Stealth. Not the best bet for PvP, but certainly not the worst either!
Windshaper Skyborne
Windshaper Skyborne is the newest race for the Horde side, which comes with its
own unique set of traits;
Skysight will provide you with a 15% increased
movement speed for 15 sec once you use it, and if there is elemental convergence, it charges
it and converts it into 60 min buff, changing it to a 15-second 30% increased movement speed
buff, which is perfect to either chase down a target, or let you escape from someone.
In addition,
Wind Blessed provides you with 2%, increased spellcasting, melee
and ranged Haste, and
Walk on Air can be used to Glide down and reach
your enemy faster if you're jumping off an elevated area.
Dwarf
Running Dwarf in PvP scenario can be quite an advantage, depending on who you
are fighting. The newly reworked
Stoneform, which used to give 10%
flat Armor, but now grants 10% physical damage reduction instead, is quite nice against
melee classes. Meanwhile the dispel effect can also be quite useful in 1v1 combat, to get
rid of a nasty poison, bleed, or disease. In addition,
Artisan's Precision increases your hit chance with spells and attacks
by 1%, which can help you reach the hit-cap easier and focus more on stacking
other damaging stats. Lastly,
Big Game Hunter is only truly useful against
Beasts, i.e. when you fight Druids in Beast Form or Hunter Pets, which isn't much, but
still better than nothing.
Troll
If you are thinking of rolling Troll in WoW Forever and focus mainly on PvP,
you should know that
Regeneration can be quite useful for open
world PvP, while the newly added on-use ability
Rapid Regeneration will further
bolster your self-healing capabilities, making you much harder to defeat in PvP combat.
In addition, their unique
Berserking on-use racial ability provides a strong burst
cooldown that lets you attack and finish casts a lot faster. Not the best , but certainly
not the worst choice for competitive PvP either!
B-Tier
Tauren
Although
Plainsrunning is definitely the best open-world passive for leveling,
it has little to no value in PvP.
Endurance will add
5% more HP, which is always a welcome stat in PvP, while
War Stomp can be useful
against melee attackers. Unfortunately, Tauren don't have much more to offer.
