Alchemy in WoW Forever is a primary crafting profession that lets you turn herbs and materials into beneficial potions, elixirs, and flasks.
Alchemy Profession Overview in WoW Forever
Alchemy is a primary crafting profession that turns herbs and other materials into potions, elixirs, flasks, oils, and useful reagents. This overview covers what Alchemy does in WoW Forever, where to train each rank, which profession pairs well with it, as well as the profession perks and campfire buffs it brings.
What Is Alchemy?
Alchemists turn herbs and other ingredients into potions, elixirs, and flasks with a wide range of uses. Some restore mana or improve a character’s stats temporarily; others increase the users defenses or provide them immunity to stuns and movement impairing effects for a short time. Alchemy has a deep supply of potions it can make, each with its own purpose.
Alchemists can also create elixirs, each granting a moderate buff for up to an hour. These elixirs are highly desirable in end-game content, as they are able to stack with each other, allowing players to stack several beneficial buffs up and greatly improve their stats.
Not limited to only making consumables, Alchemy can also make oils, dyes, and materials used in by other crafters. These various crafts are a great source of gold income, as most other professions require them to craft their own respective gear.
Healing potions are made through First Aid in Forever, so players returning from Classic should not expect to find them among their Alchemy recipes.
Alchemy Profession Benefits
Alchemists gain Mixology, a personal buff that makes the elixirs and flasks that they drink last twice as long, and increases their effects by 25%. The benefit applies when the Alchemist drinks them, so an elixir or flask crafted for another player does not give that player the Mixology bonus. Potions are not affected by Mixology.
Taking Alchemy lets you prepare your own consumables and reagents, and it
gives you access to transmutation recipes once you have learned them. Transmutations
can be used to transmute an uncommon crafting material from one element to
another one, giving you additional gold income. A
Philosopher's Stone is
required for transmutes, and most transmute recipes have a cooldown before they
can be used again.
Alchemy Campfire Items and Buffs
Alchemists can make items to place at a campsite once they have the required Alchemy skill for each individual item. These benefit can be shared with other players who visit the camp, as well as providing the Alchemist a place to craft their own recipes. Below are the skill level requirements needed to place each item:
| Campfire Item | Skill to Place | What It Does |
|---|---|---|
| 20 | Restores mana over time to players sitting nearby; its effect does not

| 140 | Lets players make certain reagents at the camp and also provides the
|
|
| 300 | Provides an Alchemy Laboratory for recipes that require one; and provides all previous items benefits. |
Best Profession to Pair with Alchemy
Herbalism is the recommended second profession for an Alchemist because herbs are used in nearly every single Alchemy recipe. Taking Herbalism and gathering the herbs yourself supplies you with a ton of materials to level up Alchemy alone, saving you plenty of gold in the process. If you would rather take a second crafting profession in place of Herbalism, you can still buy herbs from other players to get the materials you need.
Alchemy Trainers in WoW Forever
Alchemy has four trainable ranks, each of which increases the highest skill level that you can reach. You can learn the next rank before reaching your current skill cap, provided you meet both requirements shown below.
| Rank | Skill Cap | Alchemy Skill Required | Character Level Required |
|---|---|---|---|
| Apprentice | 75 | None | 5 |
| Journeyman | 150 | 50 | 10 |
| Expert | 225 | 125 | 20 |
| Artisan | 300 | 200 | 35 |
Use the buttons below to select a training rank, then your faction.
Each trainer appears under the highest rank they teach, and trainers
available to both factions are listed at the bottom of both faction tables.
You can copy a /mappin command into the game chat to place a
marker on your map, or click a trainer's name to view their location on
Wowhead.
