World of Warcraft: Forever Herbalism Guide

Herbalism is a primary gathering profession that lets you collect herbs from plants growing throughout Azeroth. This overview covers how to gather them, the benefits Herbalism provides in WoW Forever, the best profession to pair with it, where to find trainers, and the skill needed for each herb.

Herbalism is a gathering profession that lets you collect herbs from plants throughout Azeroth. Learning the profession also teaches you Find Herbs, which shows nearby herbs on your minimap and makes them easier to find while you explore.

Herbs grow in open fields, around trees, near water, and even inside caves, depending on the individual plant. You might pick Peacebloom along an early quest route, then look for Stranglekelp along a coast line, or Grave Moss near a graveyard when you need a particular reagent.

Most herbs are used by Alchemists to make potions, elixirs, and flasks. In WoW Forever, First Aid also uses herbs to make healing potions. You can use what you gather for your own recipes or sell it to other players who need the materials.

Alchemy is the best profession to pair with Herbalism because most Alchemy recipes use herbs. Gathering them yourself makes Alchemy much cheaper to level, and you can turn what you collect into potions, elixirs, and flasks for your own use or to sell to other players.

Once you have learned Herbalism, turn on Find Herbs to see nearby herb nodes on your minimap. You do not need a gathering tool: simply walk up to a plant and interact with it as long as your Herbalism skill meets its requirement. You can check the required skill for each herb in the table below. Higher Herbalism skill is required to pick plants in later zones, with most end-game recipes using almost exclusively higher level materials.

Herbalism boosts let you gather herbs before reaching their normal skill requirement. For example, a +5 boost lets you gather Goldthorn at 165 Herbalism instead of 170. The glove enchants work on any gloves, while Herbalist's Gloves require you to wear leather. If you can use them, the gloves and advanced enchant stack for +10 Herbalism.

Each of the standard herbs below has a minimum Herbalism skill and tends to grow in certain terrain, so checking cliffs, waterways, or ruins can matter as much as the zone you are in. The table focuses on outdoor zones with the most listed node locations for each herb, while keeping the starting areas for early herbs. Dungeon spawns are left out.

Herbalists can occasionally find scarce crafting materials while gathering regular herbs. Alchemists use these materials to make dyes for Tailoring, Enchanting, Engineering, and other crafts. Keep an eye out for the following items as you gather:

• Frilled Lichen — Used to make Cerulean Dye.
• Rosecap — Used to make Magenta Dye.
• Stranglevine — Used to make Viridian Dye.

WoW Forever also adds Marefoil, Demonsage, and Death Lotus for new endgame recipes, although their gathering locations are currently unknown.

WoW Forever adds three new herbs used in endgame crafting, including new flasks and enchants. Gathering locations and skill requirements for these herbs are not yet fully documented and will be added as more information becomes available.

• Marefoil — Used by Alchemists to make Flask of Natural Precision and Flask of Natural Swiftness.
• Demonsage — Used by Alchemists to make Flask of Natural Accuracy and Flask of Natural Aggression.
• Death Lotus — Used in all four of these new flasks, as well as new Enchanting recipes.

Gathering herbs can also yield scarce crafting materials in addition to the herb itself. These materials are used in new recipes, including dyes made by Alchemists:

• Frilled Lichen — Used by Alchemists to make Cerulean Dye.
• Rosecap — Used by Alchemists to make Magenta Dye.
• Stranglevine — Used by Alchemists to make Viridian Dye.

Herbalists can make three items to place at a campsite, giving nearby players an intellect buff and eventually letting you grow herbs or combine the seeds you collect. Each item requires a nearby campfire, and camping features share a cooldown of one hour. The skill and source for each item are shown below:
