Leatherworking in World of Warcraft Forever is a primary crafting profession that turns hides and leather scraps, gathered primarily through Skinning, into leather and mail armors, and armor kits.
Leatherworking Profession Overview in WoW Forever
Leatherworking is a primary crafting profession that turns leather, hides, and scales into armor, armor kits, bags, and other useful items. This overview covers what Leatherworking does in WoW Forever, where trainers can be found for each rank, the best profession to pair with it, and the benefits and campfire features it provides.
What Is Leatherworking?
Leatherworkers turn leather, hides, and scales into leather and mail armor, cloaks, bags, and armor kits. These gear options can be great for replacing weak gear while leveling, or making equipment for another character. Leatherworking is a good fit for Druids, Hunters, Rogues, and Shamans, as these classes can wear most of the armor it produces, and use their own crafts as they level to keep their gear up to date.
Armor kits permanently improve equipment worn on the chest, legs, hands, or
feet, with different kits offering various stats. For example, a
Light Armor Kit adds Stamina and Armor, a
Forceful Medium Armor Kit
adds Attack Power and Armor, and
Mystic Medium Armor Kit gives Spell
Power and Armor instead. These kits are a great way to gain a mixture of defensive
and offensive stats, especially while leveling.
Leatherworking can also create ammo pouches and quivers for hunters, which
grant a unique attack speed buff. A
Light Leather Quiver holds arrows, while a
Small Leather Ammo Pouch holds bullets; both increase ranged attack
speed for their respective weapons, making them useful for Hunters who use ranged
weapons.
High level Leatherworkers can choose to specialize in either Dragonscale, Elemental, or Tribal Leatherworking, granting them access to learn recipes unique to their chosen discipline. These specializations give you additional armor options based on the spec you chose, with each one leaning into a different main stat line.
Leatherworking Profession Benefits
Leatherworkers can craft bracer armor kits for themselves that grant spell power, attack power, or stamina, allowing you to choose a bonus that best fits your role. These unique bracer kits are much more powerful than any alternative options. Leatherworking can also make A custom saddle that increases mounted movement speed by 5%, helping players build up a mounted movement speed set to travel around much more quickly.
Leatherworking Campfire Items and Buffs
Leatherworkers can make items to place at a campsite once they have the required Leatherworking skill, providing nearby players with unique buffs and crafting abilities. Each item requires a nearby campfire, and all camping features share a cooldown of one hour. The skill required to place each item is shown below:
| Campfire Item | Skill to Place | What It Does |
|---|---|---|
| 20 | Allows players sitting nearby to build Rested experience up to 5% of a level. Has no effect if they already have more than that amount. | |
| 140 | Allows certain reagents to be made at the camp and provides the

Best Profession to Pair with Leatherworking
Skinning is usually the second profession for a Leatherworker, as it supplies the leather, hides, and scales used in many recipes. These materials are used throughout all of Leatherworking, so gathering them yourself can greatly reduce the cost of leveling the profession and making your own equipment. Skinning is also great to pick up while leveling, as you will fight a ton of beasts throughout the leveling process, giving you a bunch of leather for free.
