Maraudon Inner Wing Dungeon Guide

Last updated on Jul 13, 2020 at 00:10 by Seksixeny 1 comment

Maraudon is a dungeon with 3 wings that each require different levels and setups depending on which one you are attempting. For the Inner wing (Earth Song Falls), we recommend gathering a group of at least Level 48 players, with level 49 being recommended for a smooth run. This wing can be completed in under 30 minutes.

The other wings are Maraudon Purple and Maraudon Orange.

1.

Quests in Maraudon

It is important that you pick up the dungeon quests for Inner Maraudon before heading inside, as you can get some great loot (such as Thrash Blade Icon Thrash Blade), as well as a lot of experience.

The quests are all outlined in our separate dungeon quest guide for this instance.

2.

Entrance Location

The entrance to Maraudon is in Desolace (30, 62). Find the temple-looking doors that mark its outdoor entrance and adventure inside, following a linear path and slaying Centaurs until you arrive at three distinct path options.

We will focus on guiding you through the middle path, which can also quickly be reached by going through the left path and dropping down on the bridge. Use the Scepter of Celebras Icon Scepter of Celebras near the small altar present in the alcove to open an instance portal to the Earth Song Falls area of Maraudon.

3.

If you are going in underleveled, Warlocks are excellent would-be members, due to their CC ability Banish Icon Banish, which is great against the many Elementals present in the dungeon.

For optimal speed when grinding this dungeon, you will want to run either a melee cleave setup (4 Warriors / Rogues + 1 Shaman) or a spell cleave setup (mostly as many Mages as possible for their AoE damage and CC abilities).

Regardless, you should be able to clear the dungeon with any group setup.

Quick Dungeon Reset Method for WoW Classic

The fastest way to reset a dungeon in WoW Classic, typically used for speed farming, is to convert the group to a raid, invite a person from outside the party, grant them leader status, and have everyone who was inside the dungeon log off their characters. If the person who is outside resets the dungeon in this state, the persons who were inside will find themselves teleported to a fully reset dungeon instance once they log back in.

This technique is essential to farm Inner Maraudon, as you will have no easy way to exit the dungeon in order to reset it yourself.

5.

Layout of Inner Maraudon

Assuming you start at Earth Song Falls, either from reaching it after entering one of the side instances, or directly after using the portal from Scepter of Celebras Icon Scepter of Celebras, proceed into the cave opening that is slightly ahead of the starting zone. From here, you will follow a linear path until you arrive at a ramp leading upwards.

After climbing the first ramp, you will notice an opening ahead of you. It leads to Tinkerer Gizlock, after quite a few trash packs and going down some ramps. If no one in your group needs his loot, this opening can safely be ignored for a faster run.

Once you are back (or if you decided not to go at all), you will want to climb the other ramp, reaching a bridge. On the other side of the bridge is another fork: the right side leads to the highest point of Inner Maraudon, where Landslide resides. The left side leads to Princess Theradras, and the lake beneath her cradle has Rotgrip.

Because it can be difficult to exit the dungeon from this point, it is generally recommended to use Hearthstone Icon Hearthstone / Mage portal or suicide in order to get out. If you want to keep farming, use the quick dungeon reset method!

6.

Notable Trash in Inner Maraudon

Because of its short duration, there are only two notable trash mobs to take care of.

  • Subterranean Diemetradon are very dangerous because they spam an area of effect silence. This will prevent Taunt Icon Taunt and similar abilities from working, and can easily cause casters (including the healer) to become silenced for large durations if aggro is lost, leading to a wipe.
  • Primordial Behemoth are mostly tank and spank enemies, but their high health, damage, and armor makes them easily capable of taking the tank down, so make sure to use your damage reduction abilities and heals to avoid this fate.

The rest of the trash is generally not problematic, as long as you are not pulling more of it than you can handle. Make sure to watch out for Hydra and Earth Elemental patrols!

7.

Maraudon Solo Farming for Gold

This dungeon is one of the top places to grind gold for Warlocks, Hunters and Mages. You can watch Staysafe's Warlock doing it quite efficiently here.

For Warlocks and Hunters, the idea is taking advantage of being Level 60 to skip most / all trash and solo the bosses quickly for their blue drops, which are valuable to the vendor, or can be sold to players who want them, but do not want to go through the hassle of creating a group to farm Inner Maraudon.

For Mages, it is all about skipping the difficult elites, and focusing on area of effect farming the many packs of small enemies present in the dungeon. Elemental Earth Icon Elemental Earth is extremely valuable and can be quickly and efficiently farmed by Mages, as displayed by Gracious in this video.

Inner Maraudon can also be used to quickly level up, without competition for spots in the world, as displayed here, by Frostlive.

Finally, Blade of Eternal Darkness Icon Blade of Eternal Darkness is a special item that should be farmed by Mages who wish to increase their longevity when doing area of effect pulls. A usage example is when farming Zul'Gurub, as shown by FP in this video.

Bosses in Inner Maraudon

8.1.

Tinkerer Gizlock

This Level 50 goblin is generally a very easy boss, but his area of effect close range abilities can be a pain to deal with if your group is too close to him and stacked up.

Try to have casters attacking him from maximum range and melee spread around him in order to minimize his area of effect damage potential on your group and he should pose no threat.

8.1.1.

Loot from Tinkerer Gizlock

Item Required Level Slot
Gizlock's Hypertech Buckler Icon Gizlock's Hypertech Buckler 48 Shield
Megashot Rifle Icon Megashot Rifle 48 Gun
Inventor's Focal Sword Icon Inventor's Focal Sword 48 1H Sword
8.2.

Landslide

Landslide is an easy tank and spank boss. Make sure to have your back to a wall to avoid his knock back, and be ready to crowd control or area of effect damage the adds he spawns when he stuns your party for a whooping 8 seconds around half health.

8.2.1.

Loot from Landslide

Fist of Stone Icon Fist of Stone is an interesting weapon because of its proc, which can regenerate a lot of Mana over time. Make sure to give it a try as a weapon swap during downtime if you are a healer!

Item Required Level Slot
Helm of the Mountain Icon Helm of the Mountain 48 Head
Rockgrip Gauntlets Icon Rockgrip Gauntlets 48 Gloves
Cloud Stone Icon Cloud Stone 48 Off Hand
Fist of Stone Icon Fist of Stone 48 1H Mace
8.3.

Princess Theradras

By far the hardest boss in Maraudon, Princess Theradras is a serious threat to most groups. There are two main dangers in this fight: tank dying from her huge melee damage or tank losing threat, due to being feared away, or from ranged DPS pulling aggro during her dust cloud ability.

This is usually followed by her one-shotting the non-tank players, until the fight is not doable anymore.

In order to avoid this happening, make sure all players are ready to run away from her if the tank loses aggro at any point, which should be enough, assuming they started from maximum distance, as she will often stop to do her dust area of effect attack again. It will also be helpful if the tank positions himself between the ranged DPS most likely to pull threat and the boss, as this will allow him to Taunt Icon Taunt the boss back before she can hit the DPS player.

8.3.1.

Loot from Princess Theradras

Similar to Fist of Stone Icon Fist of Stone, Blade of Eternal Darkness Icon Blade of Eternal Darkness has an interesting Mana regeneration proc, which can contribute to your Mana pool during downtime, and is thus especially useful for healer classes.

Item Required Level Slot
Blackstone Ring Icon Blackstone Ring 49 Ring
Bracers of the Stone Princess Icon Bracers of the Stone Princess 49 Bracers
Eye of Theradras Icon Eye of Theradras 49 Head
Gemshard Heart Icon Gemshard Heart 49 Neck
Elemental Rockridge Leggings Icon Elemental Rockridge Leggings 49 Legs
Charstone Dirk Icon Charstone Dirk 49 Dagger
Princess Theradras' Scepter Icon Princess Theradras' Scepter 49 2H Mace
Blade of Eternal Darkness Icon Blade of Eternal Darkness 49 Dagger
8.4.

Rotgrip

Rotgrip is somewhat of a bonus boss that you get for free after possibly struggling a bit on Princess Theradras, depending on your party level and composition.

For the most part, he will simply melee his current aggro target, which deals a lot of damage, but should not be problematic for your group at this point.

8.4.1.

Loot from Rotgrip

Rotgrip's most notable loot is Gatorbite Axe Icon Gatorbite Axe, which is a great leveling weapon for most melee classes.

Item Required Level Slot
Rotgrip Mantle Icon Rotgrip Mantle 48 Shoulder
Albino Crocscale Boots Icon Albino Crocscale Boots 48 Feet
Gatorbite Axe Icon Gatorbite Axe 48 2H Axe
