Forever Assassination Rogue Stat Priority

Last Updated: Oct 26, 2026 - 4:33 PM (1d ago)

On this page, you will find out the optimal PvE stat priority for your Assassination Rogue in WoW Forever. We first present the stat priority, before delving into more complex explanations.

1.

Assassination Rogue Stat Priority

Welcome to our stat priority guide for Assassination Rogue. The focus of the guide is to give a strong idea of what stats to prioritize in the end game, but will provide a solid outline regardless of what level you are. We are still very much in the early stages of WoW Forever, so the information here may change as more items are found and any class changes that may occur for Assassination.

Hit Chance
Agility
Weapon Damage
Critical Strike
Haste

Each of these stats will make your character stronger in different ways. Listed below are very simple explanations of how each stat works with their specific impact for Assassination Rogue.

Stat Bonus
Hit Increase the likelihood that your attacks will hit the target.
Agility Increases the damage your abilities deal and makes Critical Strikes more likely. It also grants a slight Increase to your Dodge chance.
Weapon Damage Directly impacts the amount of damage many of your abilities and Auto Attacks will deal. As Assassination, it is also important to keep in mind that we are always using two Daggers to deal full damage with Mutilate Icon Mutilate.
Critical Strike A Critical Strike causes your attack to deal 100% increased damage.
Haste Makes Auto Attacks more frequent and reduces your Global Cooldown.

Now that there is a clear idea of how each stat functions, here are some details about how each will directly benefit your Assassination Rogue.

1.1.

Hit Chance

Hit is the absolute highest priority stat but only until specific caps. Hit is how likely your attack is to land on the target based on the difference in level between you and the target, for both Auto Attack and your abilities. It is important to note that both Auto Attacks and abilities do have different hit caps. Melee ability hit cap against a raid boss is 8%, assuming you have 300 weapon skill with the type of weapon you are using. Auto Attack hit cap is much higher at 27% to guarantee you will never miss an Auto Attack while Dual Wielding. You should only aim for the 8% hit cap, but any extra hit that you find along the way will still benefit you until you hit that hard cap of 27%.

And of course, do not forget your Precision Icon Precision talent when considering gear choices.

Main and Off-hand Hit Caps

At max level, the majority of mobs will be one of two levels. The same level as you, Level 60, or a raid boss which is 3 levels higher. Broken down below for reference is the required hit rating that would be needed to guarantee a hit with both your Main-hand weapon's attacks and abilities and your Off-hand weapon's auto swings.

Target Level Difference Main-hand Attack and Ability Miss Chance Off-hand Miss Chance
Same Level 5% 24%
+3 Levels 8% 27%

1.2.

Agility

Agility increases your Attack Power and Critical Strike rating. Attack Power what increases the amount of damage your abilities, Poisons, and Auto Attacks do, so maximizing Agility should be a priority once hit cap is reached.

Agility Scaling

Each point of Agility increases your character's stats by the following.

  • Attack Power
    • Attack Power is increased by 1 for each point of Agility.
  • Critical Strike
    • Critical Strike is increased by 0.3448 per point of Agility, so 29 points of Agility are needed per percent increase of Critical Strike.
  • Dodge
    • Each point of Agility will increase your chance to dodge by 0.03846, meaning 26 Agility is needed to gain 1% Dodge.
1.3.

Weapon Damage

Weapon Damage is a massive part of gearing choices as a Rogue. Many of your abilities like Mutilate Icon Mutilate cause damage based on your weapon's listed damage, so having a weapon with higher damage will result in any of these abilities with similar multipliers to dealing more damage.

1.4.

Critical Strike

Critical Strikes deal 100% of the damage of a normal attack or ability. This also synergizes incredibly well with talents like Lethality Icon Lethality which increases the damage done by your Critical Strikes with certain abilities like Mutilate Icon Mutilate.

1.5.

Haste

Haste increases the rate at which you Auto Attack and shortens your Global Cooldown. The added Auto Attacks will yield more chances for procs of things like Instant Poison Icon Instant Poison. It will also reduce your Global Cooldown, which is a nice benefit especially at the start of encounters, but Energy is almost certainly going to be a limiting factor.

Haste Interactions

As of now, Haste interacts with your character in the following ways:

  • Does not affect Damage-Over-Time abilities like Rupture Icon Rupture.
  • Does not affect spell cooldowns.
  • Does not increase the rate at which Energy is regenerated.

The biggest thing to note is Haste's interaction with the Global Cooldown. As a Rogue, you will be heavily limited by the amount of Energy you have available, so this added benefit of a shorter window between being able to use your next ability will have limited benefits.

With this information in mind, gearing decisions for your Rogue should be focused on just a few simple rules, and below is an easy breakdown of how to decide on what piece to equip.

  • Am I at the hit cap and would changing this piece result in me being under hit cap?
  • If an item has raw Attack Power on it instead of Agility, is the amount of Attack Power greater than the Attack Power I gain from the Agility on my current piece?
  • Double check that the weapon upgrade I am choosing is a Dagger.
