Forever Fire Mage Stat Priority

Last Updated: Oct 28, 2026 - 12:00 AM (3d ago)

On this page, you will find out the optimal PvE stat priority for your Fire Mage in WoW Forever. We first present the stat priority, before delving into more complex explanations.

1.

Fire Mage Stat Priority

Welcome to the Stats page for Fire Mage at Level 60. This page covers your stat priority, what each stat does, and how it contributes to your damage output. As you gear up however, it is always advised that you use the sims for the best results. These recommendations are subject to change as Forever is updated.

Hit Chance (to 17%)
Spell Power
Critical Strike
Intellect
Mp5
Spirit

Each stat will provide the following effects.

Stat Bonus
Hit Chance Reduces the chance to miss enemies with all your attacks and spells.
Spell Damage Increases the damage of your spells.
Critical Strike Increases the Critical Strike Chance of your spells.
Intellect Increases your maximum Mana and grants Spell Critical Chance.
MP5 Stands for Mana per 5 seconds, which is the amount of mana you restore every 5 seconds. This is not impacted by casting spells. You always gain the full amount of MP5.
Spirit Increases your health and mana regeneration. Additionally, regeneration pauses for 5 seconds every time you finish casting a spell that costs mana. Using your wand does not interrupt Spirit's mana regen.

Below we will discuss each stat in a little more detail as it applies to Fire Mage in WoW Forever.

1.1.

Hit Chance

One of the best changes in all of WoW Forever is that the guaranteed 1% chance to miss is removed from the game! Missed spells not only reduce the amount of damage you deal, it can also affect the application of on-hit effects such as Improved Scorch Icon Improved Scorch, and could even waste important procs on a spell that misses.Talents like Elemental Precision Icon Elemental Precision increases your chance to hit with frost and fire spells by 2/4/6%.

Hit Chance Table

See below the hit / miss chances and their respective hit caps.

Spell Hit Requirements:
Level Difference Hit Needed for Cap
Same level (Level 60 vs 60) 4%
+1 level (Level 60 vs 61) 5%
+2 levels (Level 60 vs 62) 6%
+3 levels / Raid Boss (Level 60 vs 63) 17%

Spell Damage

Spell Damage: Increases your Spell Damage. Depending on the spell cast length, the coefficients will change. Click below for a more detailed coefficient breakdown for Fire Mage.

Spell Damage Explained

When calculating Spell Damage, it is important to understand that Each spell has an attached Spell Damage Co-Efficient. For example a flat amount of 100 Spell Damage does not increases every spell's damage by 100. The equation is as follows.

Spell Damage x Spell Damage Co-efficient = Damage Dealt

Below we will the list Spell Power coefficients for your core damage spells at max rank.

  • Fire Blast Icon Fire Blast – 0.429
  • Scorch Icon Scorch – 0.429
  • Arcane Missiles Icon Arcane Missiles – 0.286 (Per Hit)
  • Fireball Icon Fireball – 1
  • Pyroblast Icon Pyroblast – 1
  • Arcane Blast Icon Arcane Blast – 0.429

With these coefficients in mind, we can run some example calculations. If we have 100 Spell Power and multiply that by 0.429 we would get 42.9, which means that Fire Blast Icon Fire Blast would have its damage increased by 42.9.

Fire Mages might also spec into Arcane Blast Icon Arcane Blast talent which stacks up to 4 times. Each time you cast Arcane Blast, you gain 15% of your Intellect as Spell Damage up to 60% which further increases the spell power scaling.

You may also come across items with Fire Damage on them. Value these equally to Spell Damage, as it applies to almost all of our damage. These items have a higher item budget, meaning the equivalent level item might be 10 Spell Damage vs 16 Fire Damage.

1.3.

Critical Strike

Fire Mage values Critical Strike nearly as much as Spell Power. Due to the Heating Up Icon Heating Up and Ignite Icon Ignite talent, Fire spells interact and rely on spell Critical Srikes in order to maximize their damage, which greatly improves Critical Strike value.

1.4.

Intellect

Intellect increases your Mana and Spell Critical Chance. It also increaes your chance to gain weapon skill, which also applies to your wand skill. A larger mana pool also allows you more freedom in situations where you might run out of mana before a fight ends.

One drawback from having a larger mana pool is the sheer amount of time required to drink or regen passively. Luckily at max level and raiding there are almost no drawbacks unless you speed run.

Intellect Scaling

Each point of Intellect will increase your stats by the following.

  • Mana
    • 1 Intellect grants 15 Max Mana.
  • Critical Strike
    • 54 Intellect results in 1% Spell Critical Strike chance.
  • Weapon Skill
    • Each point of Intellect increases your chance to improve weapon skill.
1.5.

MP5

MP5 means "Mana Per 5", or "Mana generated every 5 seconds." This stat applies both outside and inside combat.

Unlike Arcane Mage which receives the Arcane Meditation Icon Arcane Meditation. Fire only has Mage Armor Icon Mage Armor which gives an additional 30% of your mana regeneration to continue while casting. Making MP5 the stronger stat than Spirit for mana regen.

1.6.

Spirit

Increases your Health and Mana Regeneration per 5 seconds while not casting. It also increases the mana regenerated by Evocation Icon Evocation. During extended fights Spirit will help regen throughout the encounter allowing you to continue doing full damage without interrupting your rotation or sacrificing offensive consumables for let's say... a mana potion.

Since Fire Mage uses Mage Armor Icon Mage Armor which allows 30% of your mana regeneration to continue while casting. Having spirit remains valuable, especially during extended encounters. Typically spirit's mana regen is restricted to the 5-second rule. If you are unfamiliar with this, check below for a detailed explanation.

5-Second Rule

Whenever you cast a spell, your Mana regeneration will stop for 5 full seconds. After the 5 seconds, it will begin again regenerating an amount based on your Spirit. With spells such as Mage Armor Icon Mage Armor, you can bypass it to some extent. But with this rule in mind, it can often be worth stopping casts when an enemy is close to dead or you find yourself in situations where the enemies will die soon. That way you can start the process of regenerating your mana which will save you a ton of time in the long run.

If you find yourself completely out of mana, continue doing damage with Shoot Icon Shoot while your Mana regenerates.

1.7.

Haste

Haste decreases the cast time and Global Cooldown of your spells and abilities. Global Cooldown is a baseline cooldown of 1.5 seconds which is applied to all of your abilities, including instant cast ones such as Fire Blast Icon Fire Blast.

For example, 5% haste means you are able to cast 5% more spells in a given window. For arcane, haste is valued nearly 3x more than our other most important stat: hit rating. Although haste will be hard to come by in WoW Forever, it is an extremely valuable stat.

Until we know how Mana management looks at Level 60 in end-game gear, it's better to focus on other stats as Blizzard has made it clear they don't want haste to be easily accessible.

1.8.

Stamina

Stamina will do nothing to increase your DPS, but will help you survive dangerous mechanics which may require you to have a minimum max health.

Note: Undead DPS is slightly increased by Stamina, as Touch of the Grave Icon Touch of the Grave scales off of Max HP.
