The first week of Midnight Season 2 is coming to a close, and the excitement for the first Great Vault (proper) of the season is high! The excitement mainly comes from
Nebulous Voidcores being obtainable from the Great Vault (and a big determinant of how to gear your character).
Learn what’s new with the Great Vault, and where to best spend your coins!
Voidcores Obtained from the Great Vault
The biggest change in gearing in Midnight Season 2 comes from the Great Vault: Each week, in addition to choosing between up to 9 pieces of gear, you can instead opt for a
Nebulous Voidcore – a bonus roll to be spent anywhere you want.
To unlock the option to pick up a Nebulous Voidcore from the Great Vault, you’ll need to have unlocked at least three slots.

The Great Vault is the only way to obtain Nebulous Voidcores early in the season. The questlines for additional Voidcores, first introduced in Midnight Season 1, are on a timegated countdown.
Items Obtained from Voidcore Bonus Rolls
As a rule of thumb, items rolled from Voidcores match the level of the loot that you would receive from that content in the Great Vault. This exception is applied to the Venomous Abyss, where you’ll receive items one tier above.
In addition to this, items from the Venomous Abyss raid now only cost one Nebulous Voidcore (down from two in Midnight Season 1). In addition to the item level changes from coining the raid, this makes Venomous Abyss a very attractive place to coin.
Because of these factors, picking up a Voidcore over an item in the Great Vault ends up being a stronger choice in most cases (the exception usually being a Best in Slot item on the Mythic+ tab).
Here’s a reference table for which item level of loot you’ll receive from coining certain pieces of content.
| Content | Item Level Received |
|---|---|
| Nightmare Prey or Tier 8 Bountiful Delves | ilvl 305 (Hero 1/6) |
| Heroic Venomous Abyss All Bosses | ilvl 318 (Myth 1/6) |
| +10 Mythic Dungeons (Or Above) | ilvl 318 (Myth 1/6) |
| Mythic Venomous Abyss Bosses 1 through 6 | ilvl 334 (Myth 6/6) |
| Mythic Venomous Abyss Coiled Altar and Ula’tek | illvl 344 (Myth 9/6) |
