1.

Gearing a Arms Warrior

Welcome to our Gearing Page for Arms Warrior, this section will cover everything you need to know about equipping your character correctly.

If you have a new piece of gear that you need gems and enchants advice for, you can find everything you need on our dedicated page below.

2.

The Importance of "Simming Yourself" as a Arms Warrior

At this stage in the game, and despite the stat priority, there are so many variables and so many layers of optimization that you can apply to your character, that there is no way for a guide or anything else to tell you exactly what gear you should wear. This is why we always recommend simulating your own character using Raidbots. The website can help you choose set bonuses, trinkets and combinations thereof in a way that is tailored completely to your specific character. Learning to use this tool is essential to maximizing your potential, as there is simply no other way to take all the variables into account.

3.

Droptimizer

The Droptimizer feature from Raidbots lets you identify which dungeons and Raid Bosses you should spend your Bonus Rolls on. It simulates all of the potential upgrades in a raid or a dungeon, and lists the bosses/dungeons by rank order of how much DPS you can expect to gain from bonus rolling on it. We have a guide for it that you can access using the link below.

3.1.

General Simulations

While we heavily recommend simming yourself, you can find some of our general simulations on the dedicated page below.

4.

Legendary Powers for Arms Warrior

With the addition of Unity Icon Unity, all Arms Warriors will be able to gain the effect of their Covenant Legendary power. This allows Enduring Blow Icon Enduring Blow to be used at the same time, interchanged with Signet of Tormented Kings Icon Signet of Tormented Kings in Mythic+ dungeons.

Legendaries should always be crafted in slots which grant a free socket: Head, Neck, Wrist, Waist, or Ring, ideally without conflicting with Tier Set slots: Head, Shoulder, Chest, Hands, Legs. This makes Neck, Wrist, Waist, and Ring the best general places to craft Legendaries when possible.

For a more detailed explanation of Legendary picks worth looking at, and when you should consider crafting or using them, look at our dedicated Legendary page below:

5.

Tier Set Bonuses

In Patch 9.2, every class will once again earn pieces of a gear set uniquely tailored with two- and four-piece set bonuses for each specialization. For Arms Warrior, these set bonuses are:

While the set seems complicated, it is very straightforward and reliable, resulting in significantly more Tactician Icon Tactician and Overpower Icon Overpower procs, and near-constant uptime on a powerful Strength buff. Although neither of the bonuses have significant talent or rotational impact, aside from simply pressing Overpower more often, they both help speed up the rotation by reducing downtime and provide a reliable damage increase free of gimmicks. It is fairly difficult to not gain full value out of the tier sets, and that infallibility is an important part of consistently dealing good damage.

Arms Warriors should generally prioritize the tier set Helmet, Shoulders, Chest, and Gloves, although priority should be given to completing the set bonuses rather than holding out for specific pieces of gear. If opportunity allows, Helmet may also be forgone in order to free up a valuable legendary crafting slot. Once the Creation Catalyst unlocks, any piece of gear may be converted into a pre-defined piece of tier gear, including normally offpiece items including Bracer, Belt, Cloak, and Boots. This makes completing sets and gearing much easier, although that system is not intended to become available for several weeks.

6.

Valor Points

Certain Mythic+ and world drop gear may be upgraded with Valor Points, a special currency gained from a variety of activities. While we have a dedicated Valor page covering the details of the system, the major change from past seasons is that Valor no longer has a weekly cap, allowing you to upgrade as many items as you can earn points!

7.

Stats

Many people have a tendency to overthink the distribution of their secondary stats. An important thing to remember is that a higher quantity of stats is nearly always better than a better quality of stats. Because of this, wearing higher item level gear with worse stats tends to be better than lower item level gear with better allocated stats. Keep this in mind when considering gear, and please refer to our dedicated page for more information on stats.

8.

Gearing Up in Season 4

Season Four introduces a number of changes, first and foremost being Fated Raids, upgraded versions of the previous three raid tiers. Each week, a different raid will be Fated, increasing its difficulty and item level rewards on every difficulty, to a maximum of item level 311 from the final bosses on Mythic difficulty. The rotation will begin with Castle Nathria, followed by Sanctum of Domination, and finally Sepulcher of the First Ones, before starting over again.

Because of this raid rotation, it is now possible to gather maximum item level gear from across all three instances, opening up new possibilities, such as using Gavel of the First Arbiter Icon Gavel of the First Arbiter and Jaithys, the Prison Blade Icon Jaithys, the Prison Blade side-by-side. Although only one raid is available each week, the Creation Catalyst will continue to work, allowing players to complete and upgrade tier set gear without waiting for Sepulcher every third week.

Additionally, there is a whole new rotation of dungeons in Shadowlands Mythic+ Season 4. Instead of the previous Shadowlands dungeons, Season 4 features Mythic+ versions of Tazavesh, the Veiled Market, Operation: Mechagon, Return to Karazhan, Iron Docks, and Grimrail Depot. This also opens up new gearing possibilities, as loot from previous expansions such as the Mechagon Ring sets can now be used at competitive item levels.

Please note that Fated gear obtained from the Sanctum of Domination do not contain Domination Sockets and Shards of Domination are not able to be reused in Season 4.

9.

Puzzling Cartel Dinar

To help ensure players do not miss out on important end-game pieces of gear due to the weekly raid rotation, a new currency called Puzzling Cartel Dinar Icon Puzzling Cartel Dinar will become available through a quest line requiring players to defeat Fated raid bosses. Over the course of Season 4, players will earn up to three Dinar, which can be used to purchase powerful special effect weapons and trinkets.

Arms Warriors will want to prioritize Gavel of the First Arbiter Icon Gavel of the First Arbiter, Jaithys, the Prison Blade Icon Jaithys, the Prison Blade, Old Warrior's Soul Icon Old Warrior's Soul, and The First Sigil Icon The First Sigil, though because you can loot these items normally in raid or through the Great Vault, take care to purchase the items you are least likely to loot yourself.

10.

Best in Slot List for Arms Warrior

This Best in Slot list represents the best combination of gear obtainable within all three raids and the new Mythic+ dungeons, though due to the weekly rotation and Great Vault loot, it is possible to obtain other competitive items that may change your gearing. Because not everyone is a Mythic raider, PvP Gladiator, or clears Mythic+15 every week, this list is more of a guideline for the best pieces to look for, and we recommend using Raidbots to sim the items you actually have available to you in order to find your best combination of gear.

12.

Trinket Comparisons

Class damage buffs and debuffs such as Colossus Smash Icon Colossus Smash and Avatar Icon Avatar do not increase the damage of non-class spells, such as potions, enchants, and trinket damage.

This trinket list compares all current trinkets at various equal item levels, meant as a guideline to help prioritize upgrades, so care should be taken when assessing your own pieces should they vary in item level or bonuses. As always, simming your own gear is recommended.
