Mechanic Breakdown (Normal/Heroic)
1.1.
Core Assignments
- Splitting the raid in two:
- Two teams are required for Phase 1, 2 and the Intermission. These will be half of the raid each.
- In Phase 1 and the Intermission they are split for
Spectral Coils
soaks. For Normal mode this split is not necessary as the entire raid can soak
each one. - In Phase 2 the raid has to go to platforms on the opposite side of the room from each other.
- Each of the groups for Phase 2 should have an assigned mobile player to grab the Doomscale egg at the end of the corridor.
- Having set areas for egg collecting:
- On the pull 3 players should be assigned to pick up the eggs that are in the room. Running into an egg will pull the boss.
- When Ula'tek moves in Phase 1 eggs will spawn all around the platform. Players should have set areas they are aiming to collect eggs from.
- Splitting the raid in three for Phase 3 soaks:
- In Phase 3
Serpent's Bite will target a melee, a ranged, and a
healer player. - Soak groups are required for each of these groups. While the melee and ranged groups are logical, the healer group will need more than just healers in that soak.
- Assign a few ranged DPS ideally with low range such as Evokers and Devourer Demon Hunters to soak with the healers.
- This doesn't need to be a perfect split of 3 groups but should be as close to an even split as possible.
- In Phase 3
1.2.
Phase 1
- Blightscale Spawn (Adds from Eggs):
- Egg control is a key aspect of the fight as a whole. All eggs must be carried
carefully into a
Spectral Coils to spawn a largely ignorable Blightscale
Rawling add. - If you are hit by
Caustic Waves or leave the arena and take a
swim, this will spawn a Blightscale Viper which must be prioritised by all DPS as
it is quite deadly. - At the start of the fight there will be three eggs in the room in the centre. As the phase continues eggs will spawn in the arena.
- Egg control is a key aspect of the fight as a whole. All eggs must be carried
carefully into a
Spectral Coils:
- Spectral tails create two raid soaks which deal damage to the players standing inside them.
- Heroic: Split the raid into two equal groups before the pull and assign one group to each soak.
- The mechanic also hatches carried eggs, so use the planned
Spectral Coils to clear the eggs the raid has collected.
Raid standing in two separate
Spectral Coils groups.
- Tank Mechanics:
- A tank must be in melee range of Ula'tek and her tail.
Mother's Wrath will knock the active tank away. They need to
run back in range and inside of the red pool in front of the boss. This will
then deal a very large amount of Nature damage to the tank over a few seconds,
and apply a 1-minute DoT and
Hobbled. Use a slow removal spell to remove
Hobbled such as
Blessing of Freedom.- When
Caustic Waves starts to cast you can perform a tank swap
after safely dodging the first set. - When Ula'tek submerges pay attention to the bubbles on the edge of the platform, this will indicate where the boss has moved to.
Caustic Waves (Dodge):
- Ula'tek will pull one wing backwards before sending a wave across the platform from that side, with additional waves coming from the sides and back of the room.
- Identify the direction the first waves are moving to run into the safe spot, the next cast will always be in the opposite direction.
- Getting hit by a
Caustic Waves while carrying an egg will
spawn a Blightscale Viper.
Rage of the Shackled (Damage Amp):
- After two cycles of eggs and waves the Venomous Heart will be exposed for 20 seconds.
- The Venomous Heart is a second target on the boss and takes 100% increased damage and shares health with the boss. Remember to target it.
- Use Heroism/Bloodlust ~5 seconds before the heart is exposed to get full uptime of the buff as the boss disappears instantly after.
- Save your second use of 2 minute cooldowns and your damage potion of choice for this damage window.
- Avoid falling
Falling Debris areas while damaging the heart.
1.3.
Phase 2
- Raid Split:
- The two pre-assigned raid groups move to opposite side platforms after Ula'tek submerges.
- There is nothing to damage at the start of this Phase so you should use a mobility ability and jump as far as you can into the water to get to the outer corridors.
- If your raid has Warlocks a Gateway should be placed from the central platform to the outer corridors. This should be used for your journey back to the main platform.
- Doomscale Warden (Important Add):
- The Doomscale Warden is the only important enemy to attack this Phase.
- Tanks should position the Warden on top of the glowing eggs. Cleave from the Warden to any hatching eggs.
- The group should be stacked on the Warden to make healing the group easier.
Grasping Fangs (Tethers):
- The Doomscale Warden tethers three players on each side to anchors. Breaking a tether applies a heavy DoT to the entire raid, including the group on the opposite platform.
- Break two tethers at a time, then wait for the raid-wide DoT effect to expire before breaking the next pair.
- Repeat this three times and ideally kill the Warden before a second set of
Grasping Fangs are applied.
Being targeted by a
Grasping Fangs and snapping the tether.
- Doomscale Cauldron (Egg Delivering):
- After the Doomscale Warden dies, collect every remaining egg, including the large Doomscale Egg at the end of the corridor.
- Carry the eggs back to the Doomscale Cauldron while avoiding ground effects.
- Throw the small eggs into the cauldron first and deliver the large Doomscale Egg last.
- Each egg will spawn an add. Ensure the Tank is at the Cauldron to generate threat on all spawned adds.
- Cleave from the Weakened Doomscale while returning to the central platform.
Anguished Cry (Weakened Doomscale Add):
- A Weakened Doomscale becomes the priority target after the eggs have been delivered.
- Interrupt
Anguished Cry and kill the Weakened Doomscale. - Tanks need to point the frontal away from the raid.
1.4.
Intermission
Spectral Coils (Slam Soaks):
- Eggs will spawn in the centre of the room, collect them and get ready to break them in the slams.
- Spectral tails rise around the room and repeatedly cast
Spectral Coils. - Use the same two teams from Phase 1 and 2. Team 1 soaks casts 1, 3 and 5, while Team 2 soaks casts 2, 4 and 6.
- Move from tail to tail together and continue collecting newly spawned eggs between soaks.
- Each group can use a different ping type to notify others where to go, i.e. one group can use Warning and the other uses On My Way.
Visual example of the Intermission from the perspective of Team 2.
- Platform Shatter:
- After the final soak, the central arena shatters into four separate platforms.
- Move towards the side of the platform and avoid standing in the middle as it breaks apart.
- The resulting knock-up transitions the raid into Phase 3.
1.5.
Phase 3
- Phase 3 Positioning:
- Ula'tek resurfaces on a platform marked by bubbles. Tanks and melee play on the boss platform.
- Ranged players and healers position on the platform immediately counter-clockwise (left) from the boss.
- Space becomes more limited as platforms are destroyed, so maintain this relative positioning as the phase progresses.
Call of the Serpent (Egg Breaks):
- Blightscale Clutches spawn on the platforms, with their locations marked by circles before they appear.
- Stay clear of the spawning circles.
- Melee players will kill the clutch that spawns next to the boss with ranged players prioritising the one on their platform and at the back of the room.
- If your raid has a lot of melee players you can opt to send a melee squad to attack the egg on the platform clockwise (right) from the boss.
- Death Knights should grip the adds that spawn from these eggs to the boss.
Serpent's Bite (Soak Groups):
- One melee player, one healer and one ranged player are targeted and each requires their effect to be fully soaked by nearby players.
- Remain inside each targeted player's circle until the soak has fully completed.
Volatile Purge circles then spawn on all players who soaked and
detonate after 5 seconds.- Failing to complete a soak creates a
Calcified Corpse which will
wipe the raid.
Caustic Waves (Dodge):
Caustic Waves returns during Phase 3, but the incoming waves
now contain gaps.- Identify the safe gaps and move through them.
Circling Prey (Platform Break - Rotate):
- Ula'tek destroys the platform currently being used by the melee group.
- Every group will rotate one platform counter-clockwise (left) before the platform breaks and use a personal defensive cooldown for the second and third breaks as these overlap with other mechanics.
After the platform break there is now only one Melee DPS egg and the Hit Squad egg has been replaced with the Blightscale Shrieker.
- Blightscale Shrieker (Big Add):
- These adds spawn when an egg is not destroyed in time and a wave hits them or if a platform has been destroyed (as the egg falls directly in the venom).
- Tanks: Taunt the Shrieker and bring it to the boss so DPS can cleave from it to the boss.
- Interrupt
Vicious Echoes. - These apply a DoT to the raid which stacks the longer it is alive. Cleave from the Shrieker to the boss to lower raid damage taken.
- When two platforms are broken, two of these will spawn. Luckily when three platforms are broken the boss does not spawn any more eggs, so you will never have a triple set.
- Final Platform:
- You will have a final set of
Serpent's Bites to soak, and also
have
Caustic Waves to avoid. - Place your Ranged group to the left, the melee group to the right and leave the healer group in the centre of the platform.
- Spread for
Volatile Purge and use remaining defensive cooldowns. - You will now enter the final Heart Phase. Kill Ula'tek before she destroys the final platform.
- If the boss is very low, so ~1-2% at the end of the heart phase, jump off the platform behind the boss to avoid the platform break damage and try and finish it off.
- You will have a final set of

Quick TLDR Guide
1.6.
Phase 1:
- Soak
Spectral Coils. - Pre-split the raid into two equal Teams for Phase 2. For Heroic: These
split teams soak one
Spectral Coils each. - Pick up every egg and do not get hit by
Caustic Waves or the
venom outside the platform. - Tanks: Always be in range of Ula'tek and her tail positions with one
tank on each. Tank swap during
Caustic Waves . - Move opposite the wing Ula'tek pulls back for
Caustic Waves. - Use Heroism/Bloodlust and damage cooldowns during the first
Rage of the Shackled damage window.
1.7.
Phase 2:
- Split to the two side platforms. Use mobility on the way out and save the Warlock Gateway for the return.
- Kill the Doomscale Warden while cleaving its Blightscale Clutch eggs.
- Break
Grasping Fangs in pairs, waiting for the raid-wide DoT to
expire between breaks. - Collect every egg and feed the Doomscale Cauldron small eggs first and the Doomscale Egg last.
- Kill the Weakened Doomscale and interrupt
Anguished Cry. - Gateway back to the central platform and prepare for the next damage window.
1.8.
Intermission:
- Pick up every egg while moving around the arena.
- Soak
Spectral Coils. For Heroic: The soaks need to be in
alternate teams. Team 1 takes 1/3/5 and Team 2 takes 2/4/6. - Move away from the centre before the arena shatters into four platforms.
1.9.
Phase 3:
- Melee and tanks play with Ula'tek; ranged and healers begin one platform counter-clockwise (left).
- Avoid Blightscale Clutch spawn circles from
Call of the Serpent. - Fully soak each
Serpent's Bite in three assigned groups, then
spread for
Volatile Purge. - Use the gaps in
Caustic Waves and leave each platform before
Circling Prey destroys it. - Kill Blightscale Shriekers quickly, and interrupt
Vicious Echoes. - Use personal defensives for the second platform break.
- On the final platform there is a final heart phase. Survive to hit the boss for double damage.
