Gearing a Affliction Warlock
Welcome to our Gearing Page for Affliction Warlock. This section will cover everything you need to know about equipping your character correctly.
If you have a new piece of gear for which you need gems and enchant advice, you can find everything on our dedicated page below.
How To Effectively Compare Upgrades as an Affliction Warlock
Due to the simplicity of determining upgrades with a simulation in the current game era, we recommend using the popular Raidbots tool to decide which pieces of gear offer the most potential for your character. The main reason why this is a considerable advantage is due to the vast number of variables that differ from character to character, such as Stat Quotients and Scale Factors.
The Top Gear function can be handy, as it allows you to compare multiple items and item types to find the best combination of upgrades.
Learning to use the tools available will allow you to reach the most accurate conclusions with the least effort. It is highly recommended that you avail yourself of these tools, which will serve you well when evaluating items.
Droptimizer
The Droptimizer feature from Raidbots lets you identify which dungeons and Raid Bosses you should spend your Bonus Rolls on. It simulates all of the potential upgrades in a raid or a dungeon, and lists the bosses/dungeons by rank order of how much DPS you can expect to gain from bonus rolling on it. We have a guide for it that you can access using the link below.
Affliction Warlock Gear Upgrades in Dragonflight Season 3
The Upgrade system introduced in the previous Season is being revisited again, with Crest being now a currency in the relative tab, instead of occupying precious inventory space. The system will allow to update gear obtained in Season 3 up to 489 item level, which represents the highest Mythic Raid level. Crafted items will only be upgradable to 486 item level , though.
For more information on the new Gear Upgrades system, check out our dedicated page for it below.
As with Valor, the cost to upgrade scales differs per slot but now also increases quickly as item levels go up.

Mythic+ Gear BiS List for Affliction Warlock
The following list contains gear exclusively from Mythic+ Dungeons and Crafted items and, therefore, is aimed at those who have no access to raiding due to various reasons.
Lastly, the latest tier set is taken into account, as it is the foundation for the whole gearing process. In situations where the Catalyst is not yet available, consider running the previous tier 4 pieces, as it should still provide more DPS than a higher item level equivalent without set bonuses.

Raid Gear BiS List for Affliction Warlock
The list contains the highest DPS setup available using exclusively gear from the Amirdrassil Raid, without craftable items.
As such, it is mostly useful for informing your organized guild of what loot is optimal for you for loot distribution purposes.
Consider supplementing the list with the crafted gear present in the Overall BiS List tab in the event that running Mythic+ does not appeal to you.

Crafted Gear & Embellishments
The newly revamped crafting system gives players access to an alternate avenue of gearing, one which offers unique embellishment, which is limited to two equipped at any time.
Spark of Dreams will remain the main limiting factor when crafting high-end gear, as it can be acquired once every two weeks by combining two Splintered Spark of Dreams and 250 Flightstones.
At the start of a tier, it will be possible to craft two pieces (the first from the initial quest and the second from the initial bi-weekly reward).
It is essential to understand that your individual crafting strategy depends heavily on the kind of progress and therefore drops available, the speed at which you progress through the content and whatever drop you can obtain early. As a result, there will not be a single best path, instead listed below will be some guidelines:
DISCLAIMER: After the sudden nerf to Undulating Sporecloak, which happened prior to release of the patch, the best option in single target remains double Shadowflame-Tempered Armor Patch on low-stat budget slots such as Wrists and Back.
For multitarget and Mythic+, some degrees of variety are retained however, offering the choice between Blue Silken Lining and Allied Wristguards of Time Dilation, with Shadowflame-Tempered Armor Patch still offering the single target damage increase.
Tier Set for Affliction Warlock
In Dragonflight season 3 Affliction Warlock get access to a new tier set with the following bonuses:
- Warlock Affliction 10.2 Class Set 2pc: Soul Rot deals 15% additional damage and lasts 4 seconds longer.
- Warlock Affliction 10.2 Class Set 4pc Soul Rot causes your next 3 casts of Malefic Rapture within 12 seconds to deal 50% increased damage and extend the duration of your Agony, Corruption, Unstable Affliction, Haunt, Vile Taint and Phantom Singularity by 2 seconds.
Since both bonuses work around Soul Rot, the talent is a requirement alongside the supporting talents, but the rotation does not changes meaningfully beside the a bigger emphasis on Malefic Rapture in multitarget as a mean to extend current dots.
It is important to note that achieving the Warlock Affliction 10.2 Class Set 4pc is a higher gain than having the set on the sub-optimal slots.
That said, the ideal setup has the Gloves as the offset piece due a suboptimal stat distribution.
Weapons for Affliction Warlock
Two weapons stand out, and both are staves: Iridal, the Earth's Master and Dreambinder, Loom of the Great Cycle, dropping respectively from Dawn of the Infinite: Galakrond's Fall and Nymue, Weaver of the Cycle in Amirdrassil.
Trinkets for Affliction Warlock
Due to the prevalence of high item level trinkets via Mythic+, raiding, and PvP, there are various suitable options for trinkets. It is always best to use Raidbots Top Gear to determine what your optimal trinkets are.
From Amirdrassil Nymue's Unraveling Spindle and Belor'relos, the Suncaller are the overall best trinkets, with Pip's Emerald Friendship Badge offering a passive damage increase alternative.
From dungeons Balefire Branch and Mirror of Fractured Tomorrows are the only active options. The passive choices are somewhat lacking in single target with Vessel of Skittering Shadows being mediocre at best. For AoE instead Sea Star and Coagulated Genesaur Blood offer comparable results to Pip's Emerald Friendship Badge.
