On this page, you will find the best gear and best in slot items for your Devastation Evoker in World of Warcraft Dragonflight 10.2.
Gearing a Devastation Evoker
Welcome to our Gearing Page for Devastation Evoker. This section will cover everything you need to know about equipping your character correctly.
If you have a new piece of gear for which you need gems and enchant advice, you can find everything on our dedicated page below.
Comparing potential upgrades
With Best in Slot lists being a static sheet of what is potentially best, what is best for you will vary with every piece of gear you obtain due to the value of the stats constantly shifting as you obtain item level. To get the most accurate information for your character, we advise that you sim your character every time a potential item drops by using the Compare Gear feature with both options, item by item. The reason for this is twofold:
- An item that is not strictly ideal in an ideal fully-kitted-out gear set may be a massive upgrade for you right now (high ilvl gains on pieces, weapon upgrades, etc.)
- Likewise, an item that is in an ideal gearset may very well be a loss for you right now, either because of an ilvl difference.
We strongly advise relying on sims to gauge upgrades on an item-by-item basis, particularly as a minor upgrade for you may very well be a large upgrade for other players in your Raid.
For guidance on how to sim your character, we have a guide for this, which you can find on the link below.
BiS Gear Guide for Devastation Evoker

BiS List for Devastation Evoker
This list contains the highest DPS setup from most sources for Devastation Evoker.
In most non-Tier slots, a 447 iLvl Craft is technically optimal since you can customize the secondary stats to your liking. A few 450 iLvl Slots from Mythic Raid are the exception.
447 iLvl Great Vault items from Mythic+ are not listed here, as they are not targetable due to the RNG nature of the Vault. Mythic+ items are included at Item Level 441.

Mythic+ Gear BiS List for Devastation Evoker
This list contains the highest DPS setup, with farmable gear from Mythic+ Dungeons and semi-farmable gear from the Dawn of the Infinite megadungeon. This is a great place to start on a relatively new character, as you can infinitely grind out these items from Mythic+. Secondary stats for Devastation in this patch are very competitive with one another, with Critical Strike being the only outlier, as you are guaranteed to cap out on this from gear easily. A lot of these other pieces are interchangeable with equivalent ilvl pieces of other secondary stats.
For information on the Item Levels that drop at each M+ key level, check out our dedicated page:

Embellishment Recommendations for Devastation Evoker
Embellishments are additional item effects present on profession gear,
either as a baseline (such as Elemental Lariat) or added
as an optional reagent when crafting (such as
Shadowflame-Tempered Armor Patch). These
grant a free, additional effect to the piece.
You may only have two embellishments active at a time; this is an ordered list of which embellishments
will provide the largest dps gain, with the exception of Undulating Sporecloak, which is an option for
survival checks and early prog if you're feeling unsafe.
For Devastation Evokers, we recommend the following in order of priority:
Adaptive Dracothyst Armguards has a chance to proc to provide you Versatility and Critical strike when you take damage or provide you with Mastery and Haste when you get a Critical Strike.
Acidic Hailstone Treads performs very well for single target damage scenarios (which is most of Aberrus) but has a downside of permanently slowing you by 10%. The damage bonus can be enhanced further with a
Toxified Armor Patch; however, this will count as both of your embellishment options. Sim to check if this is valuable for you to do.
Allied Legguards of Sansok Khan grants your spells and abilities a chance to increase the Versatility of you and your 4 closest allies for 10 seconds.
Shadowflame-Tempered Armor Patch is new for Patch 10.1 and adds the effect for your abilities to deal Shadowflame damage.
Venom-Steeped Stompers will provide you with more of your highest secondary stat and reduce your lowest secondary stat each time it procs. Ideally, this will give you more Mastery and reduce Versatility.
Blue Silken Lining is an optional ingredient that you can add to crafted gear to embellish it. This will provide you with additional Mastery while above 90% health.
Potion Absorption Inhibitor is an optional ingredient that can be added to crafted gear to embellish it. This will increase the duration of potions by 50%.
Undulating Sporecloak an embellishment which will provide you with a small amount of Versatility whilst above 75% hp, and grants you a minor shield with a 2-minute cooldown when dropping below 30%; this is a more survival base choice as it provides incredibly minimal dps gain.
Alchemical Flavor Pocket can be added to crafted items and does not
count as an embellishment.
Elemental Lariat was a very strong option in Season 1. However,
it has been reworked for Patch 10.1. The duration buff
from the Embellishment increases with the amount of gems you have socketed; therefore,
it is only worthwhile to use once you have a lot of sockets in your gear.
Devastation Evoker Tier Set - Weyrnkeepers Timeless Vigil.
The Amirdrassil Raid features new tier-set gear. In addition, you can eventually earn pieces of this set from any of the nine slots in the weekly Dragonflight Great Vault. They can also finally be made at the Revival Catalyst as a catchup system. This armor, when enough pieces of it are worn, unlocks two special bonuses for Devastation Evokers:
Evoker Devastation 10.2 Class Set 2pc — While Dragonrage is active, you gain Emerald Tramce every 6 sec, increasing your damage done by 5%. Stacking up to 5 times.
Evoker Devastation 10.2 Class Set 4pc — When Dragonrage ends, Emerald Trance persists for 5 sec per stack and grants you Essence Burst every 5 sec.
Once available, you should aim to acquire the set bonuses as soon as possible.
- The 2-piece bonus is just a flat damage increase during your cooldown period; it won't require any adjustments in play to maximize.
- The 4-piece bonus will grant you increased damage and free spenders for a period after your Dragonrage expires and will lead to less filler spell usage.
PvP Gear Recommendations for Devastation Evoker
Obtaining gear from rated PvP can boost your item level early in the season.
It is essential to note that all of these items have Versatility on them.
I recommend trying Rated Solo Shuffle as Devastation has a high amount of initial burst damage, which is well suited for this game mode.
Trinket Recommendations for Devastation Evoker
Nymue's Unraveling Spindle is your best trinket option for season 3. Passive Intellect, as well as providing a large burst
of channeled damage and a persistent mastery buff for 18 seconds afterward if you complete the channel.
Belor'relos, the Suncaller another great trinket, passive Intellect with a very large nuke that
has some positioning requirements; the on-use casts an AoE around you, slowing both you and nearby enemies
after 2 seconds, the damage is spread between all enemies inside the AoE, and you receive a DoT for 12 seconds.
Balefire Branch another strong on-use trinket, passive Mastery with an on use for an enormous amount
of Intellect that decays over 20 seconds.
Mirror of Fractured Tomorrows Situationally very good now that it can be farmed at the high ilevel, passive Intellect
with a large Mastery on use, but the 3-minute cooldown will situationally limit its uses.
Pip's Emerald Friendship Badge one of the more unique trinkets of the patch, grants passive Intellect and allows
you to pair with one of 3 best friends, granting you a permanent bonus to Crit/Mastery/Versatility depending on who you are
paired with, as well as a chance to tag in a new best friend, switching the bonus and empowering it substantially.
Sea Star a simple passive trinket with Versatility and a Intellect proc.
Coagulated Genesaur Blood a trinket with passive INtellect that gives your spells a chance to grant you a very
large boost in Crit
Flightstone Upgrades
The Valor Upgrade system is gone in Season 2 and is replaced by a new system that allows for item upgrades to be obtained from a wider variety of content.
Dragonflight Season 2 introduces two new currencies: Flightstones and Shadowflame
Crests both obtainable from practically all forms of content in the game. They
can be used to upgrade gear up to Item Level 441, which is entry-level Mythic Raid
Item Level. They can also upgrade Crafted Gear up to iLvl 447, which is late-Mythic
Item Level.
For more information on the new Gear Upgrades system, check out our dedicated page for it below.
As with Valor, the cost to upgrade scales differs per slot but now also increases quickly as item levels go up.
We recommend upgrading your Weapon first, as this will provide you with the largest DPS gain.
Enchants and Sockets
Once you have obtained a piece of gear containing a prismatic socket or needing to be enchanted, you will need to know how to modify it. Details about these tweaks can be found on our dedicated gems, enchants, and consumables page.
Onyx Annulet
This ring came into the game with Patch 10.0.7. The Onyx Annulet
for Devastation Evokers will only be used when you are starting your gearing journey
as most ring options in Season 2 will give you more DPS due to how valuable
secondary stats are.
It is worth noting that a crafted ring at 418 with Haste and Mastery will
provide more of a DPS gain than the Onyx Annulet.
For more information on the best Primordial Gemstones to put in your Onyx Annulet, check out our Enchants and Gems page below.
