FAQWhich Tier Slots Should We Use?
In optimal gearing, Devourer aims to use an off-piece in the Legs slot, due to the less desirable secondary stats they have. Th four ideal pieces to use are as follows:
  • Devouring Reaver's Intake Icon Devouring Reaver's Intake
  • Devouring Reaver's Exhaustplates Icon Devouring Reaver's Exhaustplates
  • Devouring Reaver's Engine Icon Devouring Reaver's Engine
  • Devouring Reaver's Essence Grips Icon Devouring Reaver's Essence Grips
Always remember though, while this is your ideal long term setup, it's much more important to get the 4-set bonus online before worrying about perfect pieces. If this means you need to use the Legs (Devouring Reaver's Pistons Icon Devouring Reaver's Pistons), then it's always worth using them.

Best Crafted Items for Devourer Demon Hunter

Crafted gear provides one of the easiest ways to pick up high value items in a season, allowing you to target key pieces to fill out your gear-set. Currently it is unknown exactly when sparks will be available, so we've provided a crafting order plan so you have a general idea of where you'll be spending your Spark of Radiance Icon Spark of Radiance when the Season begins.

Unless secondary stats are already assigned by the item, you should use a Thalassian Missive of the Feverflare Icon Thalassian Missive of the Feverflare for Haste and Mastery on your crafts, unless sims return different results.

Devourer Crafting Order Spellbreaker's Warglaive Icon Spellbreaker's WarglaiveSilvermoon Agent's Utility Belt Icon Silvermoon Agent's Utility BeltLowest Item-level Pieces

Crafting Notes:

  • Craft a weapon first, as it has the biggest impact early. Always pick a Warglaive, for the flexibility to switch specs. Attach a Darkmoon Sigil: Hunt Icon Darkmoon Sigil: Hunt.
  • Craft Silvermoon Agent's Utility Belt Icon Silvermoon Agent's Utility Belt second. Attach Arcanoweave Lining Icon Arcanoweave Lining as your second embellishment.
FAQCan I Optimize my Crafts at the Start of the Season?

If you're seeking to min-max your Dawncrests within the first month of Season 1, then your crafts alter slightly. You still always craft Spellbreaker's Warglaive Icon Spellbreaker's Warglaive first, a weapon is non negotiable. Spend 80 Myth Dawncrests on this ASAP.

For your Arcanoweave Lining Icon Arcanoweave Lining piece however, the proc scales with item level. Efficient Dawncrest use early therefore means it's best to craft a high budget piece instead of the low budget piece (like a cloak) Best-in-Slot setups use. Due to Tier pieces existing, it gets complicated:

  • Legs are our best off-piece, but drop from Crown of the Cosmos – an end boss deep into Mythic progression this tier, making them hard to access. That means Silvermoon Agent's Leggings Icon Silvermoon Agent's Leggings are the best, high budget early craft. Use your second 80 Myth Dawncrests here.
  • If the tier pieces you get conflicts with this, you should wait on crafting, using catalyst charges (easily farmable with the Catalyst Unbound achievement) to make room for it.
  • If absolutely necessary, craft in Boots or Belt slots instead if you can't acquire the ideal 4 tier pieces.

This is only a minor optimization, but does spend Dawncrests in a much better way long term compared to rushing to craft a Cloak.

FAQDo I Fully Upgrade my Embellishment Pieces?

Yes. Arcanoweave Lining Icon Arcanoweave Lining scales with Item Level, so regardless of your gearing strategy and which item you craft it on, you should be spending crests to fully upgrade this to Myth level.

Following these three crafts, you should have a solid setup, and can look to crafting high item-level pieces to fill out any empty slots in your gear setup. High priority candidates are a second weapon due to the high value of off-hands for Devourer, and Jewellery pieces due to being very contested among other classes.

Using Crests as a Devourer Demon Hunter

Early into the season, or if you have just started playing an alt, you will have limited access to upgrading-crests such as Myth Dawncrest Icon Myth Dawncrest. These can be used to upgrade gear to higher item levels. Since crests are limited each week, and every slot will cost 20 crests per upgrade regardless of the slot. Due to that, you should prioritize your usage of these on items you don't plan on replacing any time soon, or specific slots that offer larger stat benefits:

Devourer Demon Hunter Crest Upgrade Priority Weapon (Mainhand)TrinketsHelmet/Chest/LegsShoulders/Gloves/Belt/Boots

These are not the only items worth upgrading, of course. They simply offer the highest DPS gain early into the tier when your upgrade currency is limited. Note that exceptions are possible, such as special items that have additional procs attached to them.

5.1.

Adding Sockets to Gear

While all Rings and Necklaces come with one socket by default, three additional sockets can be acquired on the Helmet, Belt and Bracer slots as a bonus when they drop. These can also be added manually using the Radiant Jewelbinder Icon Radiant Jewelbinder consumable, which can be purchased 6 Thalassian Token of Merit Icon Thalassian Token of Merit, the pity currency from The Great Vault.

When using these, it's always best to put them on pieces you don't expect to ever replace. This means Mythic items, or any crafted pieces in these slots, since they can't have them added in any other way. Due to them being a very limited currency, if you have these, it's best to plan long term before wasting any.

6.

"Simming" Yourself as a Devourer Demon Hunter

Throughout this page and elsewhere in our guide, we regularly refer to the importance of simming yourself on Raidbots. This is because every character is unique, and each gear piece you have access to can change what is best right now for you.

While we do offer recommendations for gear and trinkets, these are not complete replacements for simming yourself. The only way to truly optimize your character to that degree is by making use of the tools available!

6.1.

The Raidbots Droptimizer

The Droptimizer feature from Raidbots lets you identify which dungeons and Raid Bosses offer the highest DPS upgrades to you. It simulates all of the potential upgrades in a raid or a dungeon and lists the bosses/dungeons by rank order of how much DPS you can expect to gain from each of the items it drops. Linked below are two guides to help break down using these two features to get the most out of your gearing process:
