Devourer Demon Hunter BiS List in Pre-Season

The list below only contains the Best-in-Slot gear available in the Midnight Pre-Season. This means no Raid or Mythic+ gear is included, instead it provides the best setup available from Midnight Dungeons and Delves, with Crafting not included due to how early in the expansion we are.

Note that this gear-set aims to balance out stats evenly to avoid diminishing returns, so individual pieces may not suit your current gear-set on their own.

Best Trinkets for Devourer Demon Hunter in Midnight Pre-Season

Due to there being less endgame content available in the Pre-Season alongside fewer options, for now we'll be recommending the best trinkets to pick up before Season 1 begins. Devourer wants to get one on-use trinket to pair with Void Metamorphosis Icon Void Metamorphosis, and a strong passive trinket to go with it.

Aim to pick up one trinket from each of these categories as a pair:

Trinkets to Hunt in Pre-Season On-Use - Emberwing Feather Icon Emberwing Feather or, alternatively, Freightrunner's Flask Icon Freightrunner's Flask
Passive - Heart of Wind Icon Heart of Wind or, alternatively, Vessel of Tortured Souls Icon Vessel of Tortured Souls

You can click below to open a ranking chart for other trinkets, in case you've picked something else up are are looking to check how it stacks up.

Ranking Trinket
S Tier
  • Emberwing Feather Icon Emberwing Feather
  • Heart of Wind Icon Heart of Wind
A Tier
  • Freightrunner's Flask Icon Freightrunner's Flask
  • Vessel of Tortured Souls Icon Vessel of Tortured Souls - Click for Details
Provided you consistently collect the orbs spawned for Intellect, this is a solid passive trinket that covers Devourer's extended cooldown windows.
  • Sapling of the Dawnroot Icon Sapling of the Dawnroot
  • Glorious Crusader's Keepsake Icon Glorious Crusader's Keepsake
B Tier
  • Lightspire Core Icon Lightspire Core - Click for Details
While passive Mastery with an additional proc is good, the positional requirements on a spec that can sometimes be moving quite a lot holds it back slightly.
  • Eye of the Drowning Void Icon Eye of the Drowning Void
  • Ever-Collapsing Void Fissure Icon Ever-Collapsing Void Fissure
C Tier
  • Soulcatcher's Charm Icon Soulcatcher's Charm
  • Sealed Chaos Urn Icon Sealed Chaos Urn
D Tier
  • Sylvan Wakrapuku Icon Sylvan Wakrapuku
  • Void-Reaper's Libram Icon Void-Reaper's Libram

Best Crafted Items for Devourer Demon Hunter

Crafting Disclaimer During the Pre-Season there's no reason to rush to craft! While we provide recommendations for what is likely to be the best picks, things may change, so bear that in mind when you get your first Spark of Radiance Icon Spark of Radiance.

Crafted gear provides one of the easiest ways to pick up high value items in a season, allowing you to target key pieces to fill out your gear-set. Currently it is unknown exactly when sparks will be available, so we've provided a crafting order plan so you have a general idea of where you'll be spending your Spark of Radiance Icon Spark of Radiance when the Season begins.

Unless secondary stats are already assigned by the item, you should use a Thalassian Missive of the Feverflare Icon Thalassian Missive of the Feverflare for Haste and Mastery on your crafts, unless sims return different results.

Devourer Crafting Order Spellbreaker's Warglaive Icon Spellbreaker's WarglaiveLoa Worshiper's Band Icon Loa Worshiper's BandAetherlume Bands Icon Aetherlume Bands

Crafting Notes:

  • Craft a weapon first, as it has the biggest impact early. Always pick a Warglaive, for the flexibility to switch specs. This isn't in the absolute BiS setup, but has high early impact. Attach a Darkmoon Sigil: Hunt Icon Darkmoon Sigil: Hunt.
  • Craft Loa Worshiper's Band Icon Loa Worshiper's Band second. Prioritise Flawless Masterful Peridot Icon Flawless Masterful Peridot in sockets after your Diamond.
  • Craft Aetherlume Bands Icon Aetherlume Bands third. Attach a Stabilizing Gemstone Bandolier Icon Stabilizing Gemstone Bandolier to improve the ring, and remove the Darkmoon Sigil: Hunt Icon Darkmoon Sigil: Hunt from your weapon to make room.

Following these three crafts, you should have a solid setup, and can look to crafting high item-level pieces to fill out any empty slots in your gear setup. High priority candidates are a second weapon due to the high value of off-hands for Devourer, and Jewellery pieces due to being very contested among other classes.

"Simming" Yourself as a Devourer Demon Hunter

Throughout this page and elsewhere in our guide, we regularly refer to the importance of simming yourself on Raidbots. This is because every character is unique, and each gear piece you have access to can change what is best right now for you.

While we do offer recommendations for gear and trinkets, these are not complete replacements for simming yourself. The only way to truly optimize your character to that degree is by making use of the tools available!

If you are new to simming and Raidbots, check out our detailed guide below.

6.

Best Gear Upgrades for Devourer Demon Hunter

As you complete endgame content, you will gather upgrade crests such as Myth Dawncrest Icon Myth Dawncrest that can be used to upgrade your items. Once you have upgraded a slot to a particular item level, any other item in that slot can be upgraded without a Crest cost.

As Crests are a limited resource, ideally you want to obtain the highest item-level possible before committing any crests to upgrade it. If you are capable of completing higher Mythic+ dungeons, it is generally a good idea to wait until you have the slot maxed out with free upgrades first.

Below is a general slot priority you should upgrade your items in.

  1. Weapons
  2. Trinkets
  3. Helm/Chest/Legs
  4. Shoulders/Gloves/Belt/Boots
  5. Rings and Necks
  6. Cloaks and Bracers

Note that exceptions are possible, such as special items that have additional procs attached to them. If you're looking to find out more about how the upgrade system has changed going into Midnight, you can check our Gear Upgrade System page.
