Useful Leveling Items for Midnight
For players returning during the Midnight Pre-Patch, since it doesn't last very long you may not have time to gather up all the gear to get a perfect setup. Especially if you're just swapping over from Havoc or Vengeance, prioritize getting hold of the following:
- Crafted Weapons (
Everforged Warglaive x2) — Having
weapons will always be the biggest upgrade possible, especially for Devourer as
even the off-hand provides a huge amount of intellect. If you don't already have
Warglaives available, this is top priority. - Tier Set — you should be able to gather up 4 pieces of gear to acquire the 2-piece and 4-piece bonus, making them stronger than other items at similar levels. You can make use of the Matrix Catalyst to acquire it quickly. The pieces you use to do this don't matter - just get the bonuses!
- Trinkets — focus on picking up trinkets you don't have to micro-manage. Remember that old Agility trinkets may not work when you switch specializations, and you can use your left over Dinars left over from the final season of The War Within if you have any spare.
Best Puzzling Cartel Chip Purchases for Devourer Demon Hunter
Reintroduced in Patch 11.2.5, the
Puzzling Cartel Chip system is also
currently active in Pre-Patch. Like before, a weekly quest can be
completed to obtain these, and can be used to purchase high-value items from
Manaforge Omega and Mythic+ dungeons. You can purchase any trinkets or
special cantrip items available, all the way up to Myth track!
Purchasing an item, however, does require you to have defeated the boss. Each
item drops from its respective difficulty. As an example, to
purchase
Diamantine Voidcore Mythic, you need to have defeated Mythic
Fractillus. Trinkets from dungeons also require you to have completed
every keystone in time at level 12 or above.
To keep it very simple, your purchase order assuming you have access to every boss on Mythic Difficulty should be the following:
While Devourer has a lot of potential options, especially if you're moving over from Havoc, you may not have access to some of the new key items that it uses due to being intellect based. It's best to prioritize filling in gaps that are harder to acquire (such as a voidglass weapon and trinkets) to round out a setup. This list is not exhaustive or in order of priority, and you are best served simming yourself for optimal results, as the best pick will depend on the gear you already have available.
-
Interloper's Reinforced Sandals (Myth) - Click for Details
- The cantrip boots provide a flat increase to your
Reshii Wraps, and
as such are better than any alternative in the slot by quite a large margin.
These can be quite easy to obtain due to being a guaranteed drop per kill,
but they're also highly contested. If you can't get hold of a pair
but can pick up the Myth track version, these are a very high priority. This
is especially true if you don't have a pair at all.

- The best weapon available for Devourer, and should be prioritized if you
don't have one already. In particular if you're moving over from Havoc, you
may not have had the chance to grab this. This is especially important to
enable
Diamantine Voidcore to reach its full potential.

Lily of the Eternal Weave - Click for Details
- Devourer's best on-use, providing a bulk amount of a desirable stat with
a low enough cooldown that it can be aligned comfortably with
Void Metamorphosis.
This was also a trinket available to Havoc in previous patches so you may
already have one, but if not it's the best first pick trinket available.

Diamantine Voidcore (Myth) - Click for Details
- Devourer's strongest passive trinket, providing a large amount of Mastery
and a huge Intellect proc. This is empowered further if you have a Voidglass
weapon equipped (in this case
Voidglass Sovereign's Blade), so when
deciding on your purchases, ideally make sure you already have the weapon
available to get the most out of it.

- If you're not interested in using an on-use trinket (especially for the
purposes of leveling in Midnight), you can alternatively pick up an easy to
use second passive trinket.
Azhiccaran Parapodia fits that perfectly
to go alongside
Diamantine Voidcore.
- If you're not interested in using an on-use trinket (especially for the
purposes of leveling in Midnight), you can alternatively pick up an easy to
use second passive trinket.
As purchasing these items requires you to have defeated Mythic bosses to acquire them at the highest level, if you ever intend to kill those then hold off on buying a heroic version. You will only receive 3 total purchases through the remainder of the season, so use them wisely!
Reshii Wraps for Devourer Demon Hunter
Added in the final season of The War Within, the
Reshii Wraps is a
unique artifact cloak item that can be obtained through the Ghosts of K'aresh
quest chain. When completed, this reaches a final item level of 170. This
should always be used during the Pre-Patch, as no other cloaks are
available.
As a DPS, the unique effect is a high damage proc that also splits between enemies hit. This effect is amplified by the specific items available within Manaforge Omega:
Interloper's Reinforced Sandals - boots from The Soul Hunters.
These significantly increase the rate your cloak effect triggers, and are a
best-in-slot pickup at all times.
Band of the Shattered Soul - ring from Dimensius The All Devouring. Provides a
niche extra defensive component to procs, which has some uses on certain
encounters.
The
Reshii Wraps also come with one single Fiber Socket that
dictates which secondary stat it has, which can be changed at any time out of
combat. These can be acquired at Blue quality from Hashim on K'aresh, or
crafted by Tailoring at Epic quality. As Devourer, you will be
using either
Energizing Fiber /
Pure Energizing Fiber for Mastery,
or
Chronomantic Fiber /
Pure Chronomantic Fiber for Haste, depending
on your gear setup.
For more information on acquiring and upgrading your Cloak, make sure to check our dedicated Reshii Wraps page that covers it in more detail:

Devourer Demon Hunter Trinket Tier Lists
Raiding Trinket Tier List for Devourer Demon Hunter
This Trinket Tier List mostly focuses on single-target throughput, as raid encounters
are often decided by your boss damage. Generally, Devourer looks toward a strong
on-use to pair with
Void Metamorphosis, and the strongest stat proc
trinket it can find.

Mythic+ Trinket Tier List for Devourer Demon Hunter
This Trinket Tier List has a broader scope, looking for trinkets that have flexibility without extra conditions to get value out of them. In Devourer's case, many of the options taken for single-target still function well in AoE, though secondary procs and on-use stat boosts become slightly more valuable.

Tier Set for Devourer Demon Hunter in The War Within Pre-Patch
The previous season's final Tier Set of The War Within - the Charhound's Vicious Hunt - has been updated to be usable by Devourer, though the bonuses available have been changed. Instead of providing unique bonuses suited to each Hero tree, they instead provide flat damage increases:
-
Demon Hunter- Midnight PrePatch - 11.2 Class Set 2pc — Increases all damage dealt
by 6%.
-
Demon Hunter- Midnight PrePatch - 11.2 Class Set 4pc — Increases all damage dealt
by 10%.
These are simply straight increases, and while they have no impact on your rotation, they do significantly improve your throughput and should still be used at all times over the course of the Pre-Patch.
Best Crafted Items for Devourer Demon Hunter
Crafted gear for Devourer can still be made in the Midnight Pre-Patch, allowing
you to pick up some key items to switch over from Havoc, or set up a new character
ready for Midnight. There's only really one consistently worthwhile embellishment
option —
Darkmoon Sigil: Ascension, which is also a Nerubian enchant
that can be doubled up with
Writhing Armor Banding.
You should ideally sim the optimal stats to craft for your particular
character, but Haste and Mastery is most likely your best option with an
Algari Missive of the Feverflare.
Best Crafting Order for Devourer Demon Hunter
- First - craft weapon
Everforged Warglaive
with a
Darkmoon Sigil: Ascension applied. - Second - craft an off-piece and apply
Writhing Armor Banding to double the
effect — Any will do but
Rune-Branded Armbands
has the least friction with the rest of the gearset. - Third - if you don't have a second high item-level weapon available,
craft a second
Everforged Warglaive without any
embellishments. - After this, you are done with priority crafts and embellishments and can use sims to determine your best piece to upgrade with item level. Generally, it is a good idea to look for Rings and Necks as good options are very contested among other classes.
The value of crafting a high item-level weapon is very high, especially if you don't have access to one. This also uniquely applies to the off-hand for Devourer, as it gains equal Intellect for each weapon equipped. While the ideal setup only uses one so it can make room for a Voidglass weapon, if you're unable to pick up a Mythic level drop, a second craft can fill in the gap.
Note that any Intellect one-handed weapon can be crafted, meaning you have
a choice between
Everforged Warglaive,
Charged Runeaxe, or
Charged Hexsword. It's strongly advised to craft the
Everforged Warglaive here, as it's the only one that will switch primary
stats if you ever intend to play either Havoc or Vengeance.
"Simming" Yourself as a Devourer Demon Hunter
Throughout this page and elsewhere in our guide, we regularly refer to the importance of simming yourself on Raidbots. This is because every character is unique, and each gear piece you have access to can change what is best right now for you.
While we do offer recommendations for gear and trinkets, these are not complete replacements for simming yourself. The only way to truly optimize your character to that degree is by making use of the tools available!
If you are new to simming and Raidbots, check out our detailed guide below.
Best Gear Upgrades for Devourer Demon Hunter
As you complete endgame content, you will gather upgrade crests such as
Gilded Ethereal Crest that can be used to upgrade your items. Once you have
upgraded a slot to a particular item level, any other item in that slot can be
upgraded without a Crest cost.
As Crests are a limited resource, ideally you want to obtain the highest item-level possible before committing any crests to upgrade it. If you are capable of completing higher Mythic+ dungeons, it is generally a good idea to wait until you have the slot maxed out with free upgrades first.
Below is a general slot priority you should upgrade your items in.
- Weapons
- Trinkets
- Helm/Chest/Legs
- Shoulders/Gloves/Belt/Boots
- Rings and Necks
- Cloaks and Bracers
Note that exceptions are possible, such as special items that have additional procs attached to them.
