On this page, you will find out the optimal PvE stat priority for your Feral Druid in WoW Forever. We first present the stat priority, before delving into more complex explanations.
Feral Druid Stat Priority
Feral Druid sits in a special spot, as there are two distinct ways of playing the spec. You can either be a full DPS, prioritizing being in Catform as much as possible, or tank for your group as a Bear. While both have some overlap in what stats they want, there are also differences, which we will be detailing in this page.
Feral DPS And Tank Threat Stat Priority
FAQWhat Kind Of Weapon Does Feral Druid Want?
Feral Druids are not particularly picky when it comes to weapons, unlike some
other melee classes, and only really care about the DPS of the weapon they equip.
This is because both of your main forms,
Bear Form and
Cat Form,
have fixed swing speed on their auto-attacks. The scaling from weapons added to
Feral Druid in WoW Forever simply adds the DPS from your weapon to your baseline
damage in your forms.
Because of this, the only thing that really matters is that your weapon has high base weapon DPS, with good stats or chance-on-hit effects being good bonuses.
FAQWhy Do Feral Druids Want a Specific % Of Expertise And Hit?
The values following Expertise and Hit above indicate the amounts you need to reach the caps of each stat, and where they start to lose value compared to other stats. We will explain briefly here, with more information available on each stat in their sections further down the page.
Expertise is a stat that reduces the chance for enemies to Dodge or Parry your
attacks. The baseline values you need to remove the possibilities for
each of them is 6.5% for Dodge and 14% for Parry. If you mainly play as
DPS in
Cat Form you mainly care about getting past 6.5%, since you will usually
be behind your enemies, where they are unable to Parry. However, if you are tanking Raid Bosses
you gain value from Expertise all the way up to 14%.
Hit chance works the same way, where you want a specific amount for your attacks to be unable to miss enemies. The amount needed to avoid misses against Raid Bosses is 8%.
Feral Druid generally wants very similar stats when playing as DPS or when Tanking, mainly because Threat is directly linked to how much damage you deal. Because of this Tanks still need to consider their own damage output to avoid losing Aggro to DPS players that do significantly more damage than you. Besides the stats above, you also value Critical Strike chance and raw Attack Power about as much as Agility and Strength.
Feral Tank Mitigation Stat Priority
FAQWhy Do You Want 440 Defense?
To be more exact, we do not actually know if we need 440 Defense since we have not seen Raid Bosses at Level 60 yet. But assuming that they will deal a lot of damage with their attacks Defense becomes very important to remove the chance for the Boss to critically strike with their attacks.
The baseline chance for a Raid Boss to critically strike you is 5.6%, and each point in Defense reduces this with 0.04%. Which is why you want 440 Defense for mitigation. Defense beyond 440 still increases your Dodge chance an increases the chance enemies will miss you, so any Defense over 440 does not lose all value.
When it comes to surviving enemy damage your main goal is building mitigation to reduce the damage you take so that Healers need to put less healing into you. For Feral Druid this is mainly done by stacking Armor and Stamina, which increases your damage reduction against Physical damage and Health respectively. Feral Tanks are also unable to become immune to Crushing Blows from Raid Bosses, where they have a 15% chance on all auto-attacks to deal 50% increased damage. Because of Curshin Blows you might need to invest in enough Armor to survive several in a row.
FAQIs There An Armor Cap?
Yes, you can only reduce Physical Damage from enemies by 75% through Armor.
The amount needed against Raid Bosses is 17 265 Armor, which will likely be
hard to reach even when stacking Armor buffs from consumables and
buffs like
Inspiration from Priest Healers.
Stats Explained
All stats have different effects and work slightly differently when interacting with your abilities. The following table will give some general information about each stat, with more details given in the section for each stat further down the page.
| Stat | Effect |
|---|---|
| Weapon DPS | Feral Druid converts the Weapon DPS of your equipped weapon into increased base damage in your respective forms. This also affects several of your abilities. |
| Hit chance | Increases the chance for your attacks and abilities to hit the target. |
| Expertise | Reduces the chance that enemies will Dodge or Parry your attacks. |
| Strength | Grants Attack Power, which increases your auto-attack and ability damage. |
| Agility | Grants increased Critical Strike chance and Dodge chance. |
| Critical Strike | Increases the chance for your attacks and abilities to deal bonus damage. |
| Armor | Reduces damage taken from Physical attacks. |
| Defense | Reduces the chance enemies will hit or critically hit you, and increases your Dodge chance. |
Weapon DPS
Feral Druids function a bit differently from other classes since when using
Bear Form
and
Cat Form you are technically the weapon yourself. No matter
what weapon you have equipped your base Swing Speed is the same, 1 second in Cat Form, and
2.5 seconds in Bear Form. The damage you do in each form is directly increased by the Weapon
DPS on your equipped weapon, as well as your Attack Power.
Beyond just increasing your auto-attack damage, a lot of abilities in each form deals damage based
on your attack damage. Abilities such as
Primal Bite,
Lacerate, and
Shred
deal damage based on your attack damage. Note that these attacks scale based on your attack damage in form
and not the damage of your equipped weapon.
All your attacks and abilities in your forms have the chance to activate chance-on-hit effects on weapons
such as
Twilight Maul. This means that you sometimes might want to consider using a weapon
with slightly lower Weapon DPS if it has a strong chance-on-hit effect.
Hit Chance
All your attacks and abilities have a small chance to miss enemies in WoW Forever, and the chance is based on the difference in your level and the level of your target. You need a specific amount of Hit chance to make sure all your abilities hit the target, and this number is generally referred to as Hit cap by the community. For Feral Druid the Hit cap to keep in mind is 8% when fighting Raid Bosses.
Hit Chance And Hit Cap
Expertise
Expertise is the word used to refer to effects that reduce the chance for targets to Dodge or Parry your abilities. For Feral Druid this applies to our auto-attacks as well as all of our abilities, making it a very potent stat, especially if you are Tanking.
The chance for Raid Bosses to dodge your attacks is 6.5% and is the most important part to remove if your primary role is playing as DPS. It is still important for Tanking, especially since attacks that are Dodged generate no Threat on your target. But you also have reason to stack more than the initial 6.5% because of Parry.
Raid Bosses have a massive 14% chance to Parry all attacks from players in front of them, which makes reducing it really strong. Because of this Expertise beyond 6.5% still holds a lot of value when Tanking, especially when you take Parry Haste into account. Parry Haste is a mechanic that speeds up auto-attacks for players and enemies when they Parry attacks, which can cause a tank to get hit by several attacks in a very short window.
Critical Strike chance
Critical Strikes increase the damage of your auto-attacks and abilities by 100%, or 120% if you
have talented into
Natural Instinct. Spells operate differently and only gain 50% increased
Critical Strike damage. However, this only applies to
Thorns and some chance-on-hit effects
on weapons. Your Melee Critical Strike chance is also increased by your Agility.
Strength And Attack Power
Strength and Attack Power are very simple stats which increases your physical damage done. Each
point in Strength converts to 2 Attack Power, and every 14 Attack Power increases your auto-attacks
power by 1 DPS. This in turn affects all your abilities, increasing their damage as well. Some of your
abilities that do not scale with your attack damage, such as
Swipe,
Rake, and
Rip
instead scale directly from your Attack Power.
Agility
Agility is a stat that increases the chance for all of your Melee abilities to critically strike,
as well as granting you Dodge chance and a small amount of armor. It also increases your Attack Power when you
are in
Cat Form, click below for more information about the exact amounts.
Agility Scaling
Haste
Haste increases the speed of your auto-attacks and shortens your Global Cooldown. The values are mainly limited
to auto-attacks when you are playing as DPS in
Cat Form due to limited Energy to spend, but Haste has slightly
more interactions when tanking in
Bear Form.
Haste Interactions
Armor
Armor is the most basic defensive stat, in that it reduces the damage of physical hits. The way it does this is based on a mathematical formula which you can find below, with the simple explanation that the more armor you get, the slower the damage reduction grows. It does it in a manner such that your Effective Hit Points increases by roughly the same amount for each Armor you gain. There is a cap after which you are unable to reduce damage more through Armor, which is 75%, something you need 17,265 Armor to do against Raid Bosses.
Your Armor as a Feral Druid is increased through
Bear Form and later on
Dire Bear Form,
as well as the talent
Thick Hide.
Armor Scaling
Defense
Defense is a simple stat in that it reduces the chance for enemies to hit you with attacks, critically strike you with their attacks, as well as increasing your Dodge chance. It changes all of these chances by 0.04% per point in Defense, and since Raid Bosses have a 5.6% chance to critically strike with their attacks you need 140 Defense to become immune to Critical Strikes from all enemies when you are Level 60.
