Hunter Class Quest Guide for World of Warcraft: Forever

Hunters have one major quest as a class, which unlocks your pet at Level 10. Once you hit Level 10, you should always prioritize completing this quest as soon as possible since it will be the single biggest boost to your damage, survivability, and leveling efficiency that you will ever experience on your journey from 1 to 60. Beyond earning your pet, Hunters do have another quest available at Level 50. Its rewards are some decent gear options rather than a new skill unlock.

1.1.

Human Hunter Class Quests

1.1.1.

Level 10 - Pet Unlock

Travel to either Stormwind or Goldshire in the Human starting zone and seek out one of the Hunter trainers. You can also pick up a breadcrumb quest called "The Hunter's Path" from other trainers that will take you there. Once you've arrived, you will pick up the quest Taming the Beast.

Taming the Beast will give you a Taming Rod Icon Taming Rod, which is an item that functions the same as the spell you will unlock after the quest chain, Tame Beast Icon Tame Beast. This quest will be repeated 3 times total, with each quest requiring you to tame a specific type of beast. Once you tame the beast for your current quest, return it to the trainer and they will give you the next version of the quest. The beasts that you will need to find are:

  • Rockhide Boar (Boar)
  • Gray Forest Wolf (Wolf)
  • Young Forest Bear (Bear)

Important: taming these beasts can be very dangerous. Taming a beast requires you to channel the item for 10 seconds, and you cannot do any other actions while channeling. Starting the channel will turn the target beast hostile, and it gets 10+ seconds to try and kill you while you cannot fight back.

The best way to go about taming is to always start with using a Concussive Shot Icon Concussive Shot on the target from max range, immediately followed by the tame beast channel. This will slow the enemy down and cause it to spend a few more seconds running to reach you, saving you some hits. It still will deal some damage to you though, so make sure no other enemies are nearby when you find your taming target.

If you have trouble finding the beast you are looking for, make sure to use Track Beasts Icon Track Beasts and look at your mini-map for beasts that may be nearby. You can hover over the icons that appear there to check the names and see if they are the right beast you are looking for.

Once you have completed all 3 taming quests, return to the trainer and you will unlock your full suite of pet abilities, including the real, permanent version of Tame Beast Icon Tame Beast. Now you can go tame a permanent pet companion!

Post-Level 30 Hunter Quests

While in previous versions of World of Warcraft there was one more minor Hunter quest available at Level 50, we were never able to confirm this during the Beta. The Beta ended at Level 30 and many classes got modifications and additions to class quests, so we will be updating this section with new quests found after Forever's official release!
