World of Warcraft: Forever Protection Paladin - Spec, Builds, and Talents

Last Updated: Oct 31, 2026 - 2:53 PM (today)

On this page, you will find out the best PvE talent choices and builds for your Protection Paladin in WoW Forever.

1.

Protection Paladin Talent Builds for World of Warcraft: Forever

Welcome to the Talents page for Protection Paladin. Unlike some other specs, Protection has a lot of flexibility in how you fill your talent tree, giving you the chance to go Deep Prot for extra survivability or even deep Ret for some extra damage output. Below we will talk about both builds and in which situation to run them.

2.

Deep Protection Talent Build

The Deep Protection build focuses on getting as tanky as possible at the expense of some damage choices. This will be the best all-purpose build as you are gearing a character, when engaging in difficult content, or when you simply want to prioritize staying alive as much as possible.

Your flexible points lie with Anticipation Icon Anticipation which you can easily invest more or less into depending on how far you are from the Defense cap. If you end up having excess points, you can path your way into Vindication Icon Vindication and Sacred Arbiter Icon Sacred Arbiter for increased damage output.

3.

Deep Holy Talent Build

Holy Shock Icon Holy Shock and Light's Vigil Icon Light's Vigil are the focus of this build, offering high levels of damage and threat at the expense of serious tankiness. You should only be playing this build in situations where extra survivability is not at all needed. Additionally, this build can be quite intensive on mana and requires smart use of abilities during long fights.

Your overall rotation will look the same with an emphasis on maintaing Consecration Icon Consecration, but more importantly casting Holy Shock Icon Holy Shock as much as possible with Light's Vigil Icon Light's Vigil. Healing builds can struggle to make use of Lights Vigil, but when the ability is used for damage, it refunds the majority of its mana cost, creating an interesting dynamic where Protection can spec into it for high levels of AoE damage and the ability to occassionally heal yourself with Holy Shock Icon Holy Shock.
