Last Updated: Oct 31, 2026 - 2:53 PM (today)

On this page, you will find out the best PvE talent choices and builds for your Shadow Priest in WoW Forever.

1.

Shadow Priest Talent Builds for World of Warcraft: Forever

In terms of talents, Shadow's main goals are to reach Shadowform Icon Shadowform in the Shadow tree and Meditation Icon Meditation in the Discipline tree. Many talents beyond those choices boil down to personal preference and have little influence on your gameplay.

Below, we've outlined a cookie-cutter build that you can pick and just play the game with, and then we discuss the optional talents, what talents are worth picking, and for what reasons.

2.

Looking to pick one build and not think twice about it? This is the build for you. It isn't perfect, but no Shadow build is. Shadow is able to customize a large part of their build, but it will require some decisions which we highlight below. If you're just looking for a build that'll serve you decently well in any situation, pick this one!

Shadow Talent Swaps

Here are the flex talents you can drop in order to pick something else in the tree:

  • Twilight Focus Icon Twilight Focus - While almost a sure pick, there are cases where you don't need this talent. In any situation that you're sure you won't be taking any damage, this talent is just wasted. Those situations are rare but exist.
  • Third Point of Shadow Weaving Icon Shadow Weaving - Technically, a 66% chance of triggering it is enough, so this extra point isn't really necessary.
  • 3 Points final of Mental Strength Icon Mental Strength - A nice increase in Intellect, which will result in slightly higher crit. Small DPS increase, but an increase nonetheless. It is small enough for these last points to be considered optional.
  • Silent Resolve Icon Silent Resolve - Threat might not always be a problem for you if you play with good tanks, so you might feel inclined to remove this. However, whenever your tank quality decreases, you will wish you hadn't.
  • Devouring Contagion Icon Devouring Contagion - Technically, it is an almost pure multi-target talent, meaning it can be easily dropped in favor of the single-target focused build. Our mana economy is solid enough at 60 to accommodate it.
  • Silence Icon Silence - It is our only kick and costs only one talent point. If you're not inclined to kick targets, it can be dropped.

Here are other talent options that are worth considering after removing points mentioned above:

  • Inner Focus Icon Inner Focus - While it is a 3-minute cooldown, its damage amp is really minuscule. But it is a DPS gain.
  • Holy Precision Icon Holy Precision - If you find yourself having to dispel bosses, it is worth picking one point to guarantee your cast won't miss, as Dispel Magic Icon Dispel Magic isn't covered by Shadow Focus Icon Shadow Focus.
  • Early Demise Icon Early Demise - While a damage increase, due to the high cooldown of Shadow Word: Death Icon Shadow Word: Death, this will likely only affect a handful of casts, providing a very small DPS increase.
  • Shadow Reach Icon Shadow Reach - Looking to stay 3 yards further from bosses? This is the talent for you.
