Character Surnames in World of Warcraft: Forever

In World of Warcraft: Forever, characters will be created with both a First and a Last name. This new naming convention comes as a result of the new Rule Set system which will be replacing the previous Realms system in WoW: Forever.

To accommodate the enormous number of characters that will be linked by each Rule Set, character names will be unique per rule set and Region. Creating characters with a Main and Secondary Name will allow for more naming options, so that players have an easier time claiming their Main Name.

No, all characters in WoW: Forever are required to be created with both a Main and Secondary Name.

With the number of players on each Rule Set in WoW: Forever, the naming system allows multiple characters to have the same First Name. This actually makes claiming your desired name even easier.

Technically, there is an option in the Nameplates menu to toggle your character's Secondary Name on or off. However, this does not apply to any other players in the world, and only hides your character's Secondary Name from you.

As a reminder, Name Reservations will become available for all players who purchased either the Skyborne Heroic Pack, Skyborne Epic Pack, or Warcraft Forever Collection. Character Name Reservations will be first come, first served starting on October 27th!
