Structure of This Guide

Best-in-slot Gear

The optimal weapon to use for this build is the ION CANNON as the build is largely constructed around it and will function inefficiently otherwise. You should try to pick up copies of the weapon in Corrosive, Shock, and Incendiary Elements to line up with your Action Skill Elements to make use of the Spiritual Driver and Elemental Projector combination.

In addition to having multiple ION CANNONs, you should also look to pick up a general-use weapon, should you find yourself in a situation where you need to kill regular enemies. The weapon choice itself is fairly flexible, but you should ensure the weapon has Incendiary, Shock, or Corrosive damage so that you can match your Action Skill Element to it. Some of the best choices are Kyb's Worth, ION LASER, and Crossroad.

For your Class Mod, you should pick up a copy of Spiritual Driver. You should look to optimise it with Weapon Damage, Heavy Damage, and Splash Damage Rolls as well as upto 3 Skill Points into Mindfulness Mindfulness. No alternative Class Mod is recommended as this build is constructed entirely around Spiritual Driver.

For your Artifact, the most important thing to look for is the Elemental Projector component as it will turn the self-damage effect of your Spiritual Drive into a large boost in damage. The Legendary Artifact, if any, it is paired with is irrelevant as none of the available options will boost boss damage. Instead, you should prioritise looking for Magazine Size, Area-of-Effect Damage, and Incendiary/Shock/Corrosive damage as secondary stats.

To get the most out of this build, you should look over a Shield that helps restore Heavy Ammo to overcome to the low amount of ION CANNON ammo that you can hold. The best option for this is a Big Boom Blaster, which will drop boosters to restore your Heavy Ammo as well as your shield. Alternatively, you can use the safe choice of The Transformer which will absorb some of the bullets you are hit by as ammo. As this shield also absorbs all Shock damage, you can use a Shock ION CANNON as emergency healing if needed.

Grenade Mods in this build have very little impact and you should make your choice based on anointments (explained below). However, you should try to choose one that has no risk of self-damage, such as Hex or Tran-fusion.

Anointed Rolls

Anointed rolls are special additional effects that can appear on weapons and shields at higher levels. The special effects relate to the use of action skills and provide powerful temporary buffs.

On your weapons, you should look for large-damage boosting Action Skills such as 'After using Phaseslam, Weapon damage is increased by 300% for a short time' or 'After using Phasecast, Weapon damage is increased by 250% for a short time.', and ensuring to change your Action Skill accordingly. Alternatively, you can use 'On Action Skill End, Deal 125% more Weapon Damage to Badass, Named, and Boss enemies for a short time' or 'On Action Skill End, Weapon Damage is increased by 100% for a short time' that can be used with any Action Skill.

On your Shield, you should look for 'On Action Skill End, gain 50% Bonus Element damage'. This will give you a further 50% boost in damage, and should ideally match your Action Skill Element.

On your Grenade, you should look for a similar 'On Action Skill End, gain 50% Bonus Element damage' anointment as on your Shield. However, you should ensure this is of a different Element to your Shield as two anointments of the same Element will not stack.
