On this page, you will learn how to optimize the rotation of your Discipline Priest Healer, depending on the type of damage your group is receiving while doing PvE content in WoW Forever. We also have advanced sections about cooldowns, procs, etc. in order to minmax your healing output and your mana efficiency.
Discipline Priest Gameplay and Rotation Guide
While a Discipline Priest's main job is to heal, if you're playing solo or find yourself with nothing to do in group content, the following rotation should be used to deal single-target damage.
- Make sure to have
Power Word: Fortitude &
Inner Fire
on yourself before entering combat. - Just before pulling, cast
Power Word: Shield on yourself/your
group's tank. - Cast
Holy Fire on the furthest enemy,
or a priority target if you are using the
Power in Light talent. - Cast
Smite as the enemy approaches. - Cast
Mind Blast. - Cast
Shadow Word: Pain. - Cast
Penance if it isn't needed for healing. - Use your wand until the enemy goes down.
It's generally a good idea to use your wand to finish off a foe rather than
using
Smite or
Mind Blast. A key aspect of playing Priest is
managing your Mana to survive the longer encounters. Remember that it's expected to
break from this rotation in order to save yourself or an ally.
When farming,
Holy Nova is a decent option for dealing AoE damage. It's an
instant-cast ability, which allows you to avoid interruptions and send out healing/damage
quickly. However, this spell is costly and should be avoided if you're looking to do
a group heal in PvE content.
Healing Rotation
- Use
Power Word: Shield if you need to buy time to cast your
healing spells. - Use
Lesser Heal for a quick, but small, heal. - Use
Heal for a moderate heal after a few seconds. - Use
Renew when you are looking to keep up with chip damage,
or if an ally needs some help while you're repositioning. - Use
Flash Heal in an emergency. - Use
Prayer of Healing when multiple members of your party are heavily injured. - Use
Holy Nova if
Searing Light procs and
no one is in imminent danger. - Use
Cure Disease and
Dispel Magic when appropriate.
An important note about
Cure Disease and
Dispel Magic is that you
may not need to cleanse your allies of all disease and magical debuffs. There will be
times when you will need to make a decision about whether the debuff is worth spending
mana on removing. I.e. sometimes it is easier to let your Renew heal a damage over time
effect instead of cleansing it.
While
Flash Heal casts much faster than
Heal, it's prudent to reserve
the use of
Flash Heal for emergencies only. Mana management is key to survival and
Flash Heal is more costly to your mana pool.
