On this page, you will learn how to optimize the rotation of your Restoration Shaman Healer, depending on the type of damage your group is receiving while doing PvE content in WoW Forever. We also have advanced sections about cooldowns, procs, etc. in order to minmax your healing output and your mana efficiency.
Restoration Shaman Gameplay and Rotation Guide
Restoration has a very simple spell kit that
is easy to understand. You will use
Healing Wave for single-target healing,
Chain Heal for area healing, and
Riptide for spot-healing. Riptide is
also used on your main Chain Heal target for the +25% healing buff.
The following rotations will be in priority order, which means that when deciding what to cast at any given moment, you should work through the list top to bottom.
These lists assume you are using the recommended builds in the Talents page, and are at maximum level. If you are still leveling, refer to the Talents page for leveling rotations.
Single-Target Rotation
Use this rotation to heal a single target or a small amount of allies taking focused damage.
- Pre-place all of your Totems with
Call of the Elements,
with
Searing Totem being placed last just before pulling due to its
lower duration. - Cast
Riptide on the most injured targets on cooldown. - Cast
Healing Wave to heal injured targets, downranked if damage is
not enough to warrant using your maximum rank. - Use
Lightning Bolt for damage if there are no urgent healing requirements and
Mana allows.
Multi-Target Rotation
Use this rotation when healing multiple allies simultaneously against group damage, or when trying to deal damage to 3+ enemies at once.
- Pre-place all of your Totems with
Call of the Elements, with
Magma Totem being placed last just before pulling due to its lower duration. - Cast
Riptide on the most injured targets on cooldown. - Cast
Chain Heal on an injured target with
Riptide, downranked
if damage is not enough to warrant using your maximum rank. - Use
Fire Nova and
Chain Lightning for damage against multiple enemies
if there are no urgent healing requirements and Mana allows.
Cooldown Usage
As a Restoration Shaman, you have various long cooldowns that can be critical for supporting your allies.
Mana Tide Totem
Mana Tide Totem restores a significant amount of Mana to yourself and
nearby allies. Try to use it at 80% Mana in order to not waste any of its restoring
effects.
Nature's Swiftness
Nature's Swiftness allows you to cast one of your heals (typically
Healing Wave) instantly once every 3 minutes. Keep it for an emergency, i.e.
to save your tank from dying when they drop incredibly low all of a sudden.
Utility Abilities
Shamans also come with a ton of utility spells and Totems, which can be used to help your group deal with specific challenges.
Earthbind Totem
Earthbind Totem slows down all enemies around it, which makes it great
for controlling melee enemies who run away when at low health, or allow yourself
and allies to run from adverse situations.
Poison / Disease Cleansing
Poison Cleansing Totem and
Disease Cleansing Totem remove all
poison and disease effects from nearby allies periodically, which is
invaluable against enemies who apply dangerous poison and disease debuffs.
Tremor Totem
Tremor Totem allows you to remove sleep, fear, and charm effects from
party members, which is of particular use against common mass-fear effects from
end game bosses and in PvP.
Earth Shock
Earth Shock is the only healer interrupt in WoW Forever. Using
this correctly will allow you to prevent a lot of damage that would otherwise need
to be healed, and it can help bring caster enemies to melee range where they can be
more easily killed and controlled.
Mana Management
A Restoration Shaman's primary resource is Mana. Its maximum is based on your Intellect, and the regeneration rate is based on your Spirit and MP5. For a detailed breakdown on the various Mana-affecting stats, check out our Stats page.
Most of the time the best consumable you can use will be a Mana-restoring one
such as a
Major Mana Potion, but in shorter fights with high healing
requirements you can also use
Major Mender's Potion to make your healing
more potent for a short period.
