Two-headed Aevis Guide for The Forked Tower: Magic

Two-headed Aevis is the first boss of The Forked Tower: Magic. The arena is square, and players are able to fall off or be pushed off by knockback mechanics.

The boss has two targetable parts: the Green Head, which is weak to Wind, and the Blue Head, which is weak to Fire. Players will be tethered to one head near the start of the encounter, and will only be able to deal damage to that one for the remainder of the encounter.

As a reminder, all encounters within FTM will inflict a permanent Vulnerability Up debuff. As such, players intending to greed mechanics must be aware that doing so too often can lead to instant and unavoidable death due to unavoidable damage becoming too great to survive.

Boss Ability Quick-Guide

  • Buffet (Both): Tethers players to a specific head, allowing them to only deal damage to that one for the rest of the encounter.
  • Thunderfrost Tempest (Both): Raidwide. Detonates any ice or lightning orbs on the arena.
  • Archaeofury: Tankbusters on the highest aggro target for each head.
  • Poison Breath (Blue): Large circle AoE targeted at the arena, the centre of which is denoted by a tether.
  • Storm's Breath (Green): Large knockback AoE targeted at the arena, the centre of which is denoted by a tether.
  • Two Terrors (Both): Two large line AoEs targeted at the arena, the location of which is denoted by the positions of the boss' heads. These lines follow the markings on the floor of the arena.
  • Hissing Reprise (Both): Afflicts players with Westerly Reprise or Easterly Reprise, which will push players in the indicated direction when the debuff expires.
  • Summon (Both): Summons four orbs onto the arena. These are either all ice, all lightning, or a split of two each.
  • Ice Cluster (Blue) / Lightning Cluster (Green): Circle AoE targeted at the arena. If Ice Cluster hits an Ice orb that was Summoned earlier, it will cause the orb to denote in a circle AoE around itself a moment later. Lightning Cluster will detonate Lightning orbs, with the same effect.
  • Blazeloop (Either): Small circle AoE targeted at the arena, followed up with a massive donut AoE that covers the entire arena except for the initially hit circle.
  • Arcane Revelation (Both): Summons multiple green wind portals on the arena in a + shape. These will do two sets of line AoEs with each set containing both horizontal and vertical lines, creating multiple small square safe spots around the arena.

Tips and Tricks

  • There is a small window of time at the start of the encounter where powerful AoE Phantom actions such as Iainuki can be used to attack both heads.
  • Players may be forced out of melee range at least once during the encounter by either Ice + Lightning Cluster or Blazeloop. Melee players looking to greed damage can safely take one hit here if they wish to avoid disconnecting.

Rewards and Proceeding Onwards

Clearing Two-headed Aevis will reward players with a personal treasure coffers that only they can see, which can be found in front of the Teleportation Sigil within the boss arena.

There is a long stretch of walkway between the first boss and the second. Players will need to avoid blue AoEs that block passage along the walkway in some places, and players that have Phantom Thief mastered will wish to use Trap Detection in order to reveal a hidden treasure coffer for all players. This coffer is located on one of the four round platforms off to the side of the walkway between the two bosses.

Players should note that, aside from the first set of three adds and the last set of three adds, the three sets of adds between the first and last ones do not need to be killed in order to progress the raid. However, players may wish to do so anyway if progressing the raid with a smaller group size.

The next boss is Sword Dancer.
