Sage Healer Gear and Best in Slot — Dawntrail 7.4
On this page, you will find the best gear and best-in-slot items for your Sage Healer in Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail (Patch 7.4).
Sage Gearsets (BiS)
This page presents several premade best-in-slot (BiS) gear sets for end-game Savage raiding, along with explanations that should help you choose the set that best fits your needs. If you are curious about how we create these sets, or if you would like to compare other sets, you can view the Sage Relative Damage Calculator.
While you are gearing up, it is a good idea to have a set to work toward so that you can spend your weekly capped Tomestones effectively. However, the stat priorities of these best-in-slot sets do not necessarily apply to progression raiding. Notably, many of these sets have very little Piety (or none at all). This is not generally recommended for progression.
You can find Sage's general stat priorities and explanations on the Stats and Melding page.

Patch 7.4 BiS
Patch 7.4 introduces the final savage raid tier of the expansion. As such, old gear sets have become obsolete. Generally, you would start the raid tier using crafted gear. As you progress, the crafted pieces will gradually be replaced with raid and augmented tome pieces.
Here is the initial progression set:
As an added bonus, this progression set has the same 2.39 GCD as one of the BiS options, so you will not need to re-plan GCDs.
If you do not have time to farm this many tome pieces prior to starting the raid tier, then you should focus on the body piece if possible. Once you have the body, then gear the earring. If you will only have one week worth of tomes, go straight for the earring.
Once you start to get items, you can build towards the 2.39 set, which maximizes damage output:
Alternatively, if you would prefer a slower set, you can use the alternative 2.44 set:
Futures Rewritten BiS Sets with Dungeon Gear
Patch 7.3 introduces a new dungeon, which drops ilvl 735 gear - perfect for FRU. If you farm specific pieces of this new gear, you can give yourself a slight edge in DPS.
If you do not have gear from Cloud of Darkness (Chaotic), you can use this alternative set, which uses a hand piece from Occult Crescent instead of CoD.
Relic BiS for 6.5, 2.39
If you have access to up-to-date relics for patch 6.5, this will give you an edge on DPS. Just be aware that MP economy will be slightly worse than the other sets, as it only has the base amount of piety yet a faster GCD.
Alternate Relic BiS for 6.5, 2.41
Another relic set, featuring a slightly slower GCD but more determination. While still only having base piety, this set will have slightly better MP economy due to the longer GCD time.
Standard with Tomestone Ring, 2.42 GCD
With efficient healing, this set is comfortable for general use. Using the Tomestone ring sacrifices an extremely small amount of damage for a significant boost to your MP, and a modest amount of HP. It can tolerate a few extra safety heals or a raise without much trouble, but it may not have enough MP depending on how much healing and raising you'll need to do. Plus, with the same 2.42 GCD as last raid tier, there isn't much adjustment/re-learning needed.
Portions of these gear sets can only be acquired by completing the Abyssos raid tier. A guide for the content can be found in the link below.
Higher Piety, 2.44 GCD
This set features 621 piety, an increase of 95 over the 2.42 set. Plus, the slightly slower GCD also helps reduce mana consumption. This set can last even longer before mana becomes an issue.
Even Higher Piety
This set has even better MP sustain, with a whopping 741 piety and a nice slow 2.47 GCD. It will last quite some time even with a generous amount of raising and GCD healing. DPS checks in ultimates are not as tight as savage content, so don't be afraid to err on the side of caution and go with a higher piety set.
6.5 Relic BiS for 6-1-1 Final Phase
If you have an up-to-date relic, and are doing 6-1-1 stacks in the final phase, this is the ideal set. It has slightly less piety than the 3-2-2 sets, as 6-1-1 has significantly reduced healing requirements in the final phase. However, this set has more piety than the non-relic version, as it has a faster 2.42 GCD, compared to the 2.50 GCD of the non-relic set.
6.5 Relic BiS for 3-2-2 Final Phase
If you have an up-to-date relic, and are doing 3-3-2 stacks in the final phase, this is the ideal set. It has slightly more piety than the 6-1-1 sets to accommodate for the greater healing requirements of 3-3-2 over 6-1-1, but it has an edge over the non-relic sets in terms of DPS. Be warned that MP economy will be ever-so-slightly worse than the non-relic version, as this set features a 2.46 GCD instead of the 2.50 GCD on the non-relic sets.
6.5 Non-Relic BiS for 6-1-1 Final Phase
If you do not have a relic, and are doing 6-1-1 stacks in the final phase, this is the ideal set. It has slightly less piety than the 3-2-2 sets, as 6-1-1 has significantly reduced healing requirements in the final phase.
6.5 Non-Relic BiS for 3-3-2 Final Phase
If you do not have a relic, and are doing 3-3-2 stacks in the final phase, this is the ideal set. It has slightly more piety than the 6-1-1 sets to accommodate for the greater healing requirements of 3-3-2 over 6-1-1.
