Changes to FFXIV in Patch 7.5

Patch 7.5 introduces the final updates to content released in Dawntrail, a new Limited Job, and several miscellaneous quality-of-life changes. The developers have focused on cleaning up tech debt from A Realm Reborn, and many quality-of-life changes seek to decrease inventory clutter and make UIs more smooth.

3.1.

Duty Support Updates

The developers will continue to add Duty Support for dungeons not featured in the main scenario. Patch 7.5 will introduce changes and Duty Support for both the Dusk Vigil and Shisui of the Violet Tides.

3.2.

Occult Crescent Updates

Occult Crescent Updates

Further updates to the Occult Crescent Field Operations zone will be made in Patch 7.5 and beyond. The North Horn zone will be added, and with it comes a new raid called Forked Tower: Magic. Several new phantom jobs will be added, including Black Mage, Dragoon, White Mage, Ninja, SummSoner, Blue Mage, Red Mage, and Necromancer. In addition, Phantom Weapons will be able to be upgraded to item level 790, and eventually item level 795.

3.3.

Cosmic Exploration Updates

Cosmic Exploration will receive further updates, including a new planet, Auxesia, as well as upgrades to Cosmic Tools. New rewards and recipes will be added.

3.4.

Housing Updates

Housing Updates

The furniture placement limit of houses have been increased by 50% for indoor furnishings and 100% for outdoor furnishings. House decorators will enjoy this change, as different housing items are often combined to create a new look. An increase in the limit will give them more items to play with.

3.5.

Dye Updates

There are over 100 dyes in the game taking up precious inventory space. The devs have changed the backend system and will consolidate them into three types of dyes: the original 85 dyes from A Realm Reborn, the 9 dyes released with Ishgardian Restoration, and the 11 dyes released with Cosmic Exploration. The new system will allow players to use any of the dyes in the set if they have the new consolidated dye item. However, the special dyes will remain individual, including the popular Jet Black and Pure White dyes.

When Patch 7.5 is released, current dyes that will be consolidated will no longer be able to be used. You will be able to trade in dyes for the new consolidated dyes at a Calamity Salvager NPC.

3.6.

Armoire Updates

The major change to armoires and the glamour dresser coming in Patch 7.5 is that all dungeon gear released after Heavensward can be stored as outfit glamours. In addition, individual pieces of gear can be removed from outfit glamours. This updates takes us one step closer to modernizing the glamour log.

3.7.

Ocean Fishing Updates

Ocean Fishing New Route

A new Ocean Fishing route, Thavnair, will be released. Ocean Fishing is a relaxing way to earn gatherers' scrips and level up the Fisher job. A new route will contain new fish and new titled achievements.

3.8.

Miscellaneous Updates

Quality-of-life updates are generally shown in the Live Letter immediately preceding the patch and fully expanded on once the patch notes are live. Here are some miscellaneous updates we're aware of so far.

  1. The Sightseeing Log has a few updates, including telling players the emote required to complete a log entry when nearing it. The system will also tell players if conditions have not been met.
  2. While players are on standby in the crafting menu, they can now switch jobs, consume potions and food, and do other UI-related actions.
  3. Two new UI themes have been added: Clear Pink and Clear Grey.
  4. Companion Chocobos will have more animations and react to certain emotes.
4.

Patch 7.5 PvE Job Changes

No PvE changes were discussed in the 7.5 Live Letters. We will have to wait until the patch to see if there will be any adjustments. All jobs are fairly balanced at the moment, though Ultimates generally favour jobs with burst damage profiles due to downtime.

5.5.

New Raids in Patch 7.5

Windurst FFXI

The final wing of the Alliance Raid crossover, Echoes of Vana'diel will be released in Patch 7.5. Windurst: The Third Walk is the final Alliance Raid, and players will be able to fight the famous caster Shantotto! In addition, an Ultimate Raid will be released in Patch 7.5, with nothing known about it except a teaser at the very end of the patch trailer. Kefka makes his return, but he was originally summoned by Omega...so why has he been summoned once more?

6.

Gearing in Patch 7.5

New Gear

As FFXIV is a vertical progression MMO, new and improved gear can be acquired in the patch. Patch 7.4 does not feature an increased item level, but will ease up on restrictions on acquiring gear so players can more easily acquire best-in-slot items for Ultimate raids and the expansion. Learn more about how to gear up from our Dawntrail gearing guide. You can also find best-in-slot gear lists on each of our job guides!

7.

PvP Updates in Patch 7.5

CC Map

With the release of Patch 7.5, PvP Series 11 will begin and Series 10 will end. A new Crystalline Conflict map will be released: Archeia Harmonias is inside a library and features special glyphs and panels for teams to capture and use. Balance updates will continue for PvP versions of jobs.
