How to Use the Single-Button Assistant and Assisted Highlight in World of Warcraft

Last updated Yesterday at 12:00 by Stan 1 comment

This guide explains how to enable and use two new UI tools in World of Warcraft that simplify damage rotations and boost accessibility.

1.

Introduction

Starting in Patch 11.1.7, Blizzard added two new UI improvements designed to help players focus more on gameplay and less on memorizing their rotations. Whether you are brand new, returning from a break, or just trying out a new specialization, these tools, assisted Highlight and the Single-Button Assistant can make combat more intuitive and forgiving.

2.

Assisted Highlight: A Visual Cue for What to Press Next

Assisted Highlight adds a visual glow to the next recommended damage ability in your rotation, based on your current resources and combat state. Think of it as a subtle nudge in the right direction. It does not take over, but it helps keep your flow smooth.

The highlight prioritizes DPS abilities only, so you will still need to manually handle heals, defensive cooldowns, and buffs.

3.

How to Enable Assisted Highlight

  • Press Escape to open the Game Menu
  • Go to Options and navigate to Gameplay Enhancements
  • Toggle Assisted Highlight on with the checkbox
4.

Single-Button Assistant: One Key to Rule Your Rotation

The Single-Button Assistant combines your key DPS abilities into one-clickable button. Each press casts the next optimal ability based on your current talent choice with a small built-in global cooldown increase between casts (0.2 seconds), making it ideal for:

  • Players needing accessibility support
  • Players experimenting with new classes

It can also detect when multiple targets are nearby and switch to AoE abilities when appropriate.

5.

How to Use the Single-Button Assistant

  • Press N to open your Spellbook
  • Find the Single-Button Assistant ability
  • Drag it to your Action Bar as you would with any other spell

That is it. You are good to go!
